Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This turned out to be a purely erotic novel without much of a plot or real romance. Pure sex from beginning to end. If that's what you like this short novel is for you.

I received a copy of this book to review from Netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity.
This is a very fast paced book which goes from 0 to 100mph in pages. The writing is OK.
I would have preferred more developed characters as they seemed very one dimensional and only focused on one thing. If that's your thing, then this is the book for you.

Short, fun and hot. This was a perfect quarantine read! I liked all the characters and the plot. It was amazing what Rachael Reilly could do in such a short book.

It was cute. But I needed a little more. I don't know what was missing. The story was good. I would want just more.

Complementary copy given for honest review and opinion. This story went from 0 to 60 in no time! I am not even sure where the beginning, middle and end were. Good fast read.

This book started out good, but quickly went downhill. The nicknames really killed this book for me and made me cringe.

Behind Closed Doors. By Rachael Reilly. 2020. The Wild Rose Press (ARC eBook).

Behind Closed Doors is an instant attraction between two opposites; a middle school librarian and an adult toy store owner. It’s an entertaining but short and simple read that flows well. Recommended if you’re looking for steam with a low amount drama that is quickly resolved.

I could only read a little bit of this book, unfortunately, but what I did read was pretty good. The plot pulled me in, the characters were fully fleshed out, and I liked the writing style.

This was a very short book and I don't feel like the characters were defined at all. Basically, the characters meet and have sex on the first date. After that, their every encounter is basically the same. There was a few interactions where they talked but none that lead me to believe they had grown to know each other or fall in love. I enjoy reading books were the characters actually have some conversations so this was not a great book for me.

This book pretty much lost me when the main character took it upon himself to search out the heroine by using her credit card receipt to find her last name and address. That is just way too creepy for me. And he kept referring to her with hackneyed and silly nicknames, too. Sorry, but there are far too many good books out there to waste time reading something that gives off stalker/creep vibes like this one.
Note: I was provided a copy of this book by NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This book was ok. I feel like I didnt gain anything by reading this. They met, they had great sex, there was a hiccup about them being together, they resolve it and then it's over. There is no confrontation with her employer. It was a very simple plot line.

Reading outside of my genre with some titles I can recommend for readers. This one fit the erotica genre well. It seemed to end rather abruptly though. No pun intended....but maybe a little more "fleshing" out of the story would have served it well.

This was another fast romance book. I liked that the "love at first sight" view was there, however. Als BRAVO for s standing up to an obviously archaic system that makes a teacher or ANYONE sign a mortality clause. This is one of MANY issues in this world. Whoooo Boy! That entire exchange had my blood boiling! ANYWAY sorry to get off topic. But This was a cute book. I would have loved for it to be longer but a cute and fulfilling book none the less.

A school librarian and a sex toy shop owner meet while she is perusing the aisles of his store.

They are quietly attracted to each other and after she makes her purchase he learns her name, enabling him to send her flowers to ask for a date.

Their romance is fast paced especially when an old disgruntled ex stirs up trouble with her employer.

With a happy ever after ending in this romance.

With only 5 Chapters, I'm not sure if this debut from new author Rachael Reilly is considered a short story or novelle. The limited space did not allow for much character development as far as family history, positive or negative experiences and influences when the main characters were growing up, but nevertheless, I found them appealing enough to care what happened to them. Julia Morgan is a 33 year old middle school librarian, who after overhearing some teachers talk about a newly opened sex toy shop, decides to check it out. Her ex was a selfish jerk, so solo is the way to go. But she is drawn to the owner of the store, Clay Nichols. She can't stop thinking about him when she uses her new toy and he is smitten enough by her, to track her down by her credit card. They embark on a fast moving relationship, but there is a snake, i.e. her ex, who attempts to destroy it and hurt her.

I read an ARC that I received from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

The synopsis for this book held real promise, but as is the case for many novellas, the story was too short to develop much nuance and fall in love (or at least want to root for) the characters.

Ok, if I walked into a sex shop and an employee immediately called me "pretty lady" I would turn around and walk right back out. Gross. So... this didn't have a great start for me. And unfortunately the cringeworthy nicknames didn't stop there; over the course of only about 60 pages, he also calls her blue eyes, hot stuff, woman, and Coug/cougar (because you know, 33 and 30 is such an age gap).

In addition to the pet names, their whole meet cute (and especially the fact that he looks up her info from her credit card to contact her and ask her out) just felt a bit too skeevy to me and sort of put me off right from the beginning. The rest of the story was fine, I guess, but I never really grew to particularly like either of them, and the conflict toward the end felt very manufactured and unrealistic.

ALSO, you would think that a story about the owner of a sex shop would involve more toys, no? That was a bit disappointing to me as well.

Overall, this is a quick little novella so I don't overly feel like I wasted my time, but at the same time there's much better erotica out there.

Thank you to NetGalley and The Wild Rose Press for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Behind closed doors was a very short read, but despite this it had a backstory and likeable characters. I really enjoyed reading about a librarian who is working in a middle school. Julia was a sweet character and I'm glad her relationship with Clay worked out in the end. I wasn't sure about some of his pet names for her, in particular 'Coug', since Julia is only three years older than he is. The story is fast-paced, and full of steamy scenes. If you are looking for a quick erotica read, give this one a try.

Julia, a school librarian, is instantly attracted to the owner of a new sex shop in town. This book was ok. I loved the characters of Julia & Clay, but felt their connection could have been deeper on paper. I believe they were in love, but the story mainly focuses on their sexual chemistry. The thing that bugged me in the story is that the "issue" towards the end of the story was never fully solved. It was a rushed resolution. Behind Closed Doors would have been better as a full length story rather than a novella. I would have loved more of the story- especially seeing Bryce & Kyle punished for being jerks.
