Since this is the audio copy I am reviewing I am reviewing it as to the performance of the audio.

The narrator is to me, a non-audiobook lover, is perfect for this story, she tells the story in an interesting way while giving an air of mystery that fits perfectly with the plot of "Two Reasons to Run."

Content Review: 

I wasn't sure what to expect in this novel.

I enjoyed it and seeing the healing relationships throughout the story, I really loved seeing Jane, Reid, and Will become a family, I was lost at some points and I realized after reading it that it was the second book in the Pelican Harbor series, oops! And that was slightly saddening, however, I still enjoyed the book though I was lost at some spots.

As far as suspense goes I liked that there was more than the main suspense plot. As our main characters search for answers in regards to what had happened in the past it was intriguing for them to have pasts that aren't that normal but are sadly so very possible.

I don't recommend this book to younger readers since it deals with cults, death, murder, stalker, and other things. 17 up unless the reader is sensitive.

This is book two in the Pelican Harbor series. When I started this book I did not realize it was book two, however I could tell quickly it must be part of a series, because I was lost. So, I stopped this book and started book one "One Little Lie", which cleared things up. Therefore in my opinion you really need to read these books in order, they are not a stand alone. Having said all that they are great suspenseful reads. I know I can not wait for book three.
I loved Police Chief Jane Hardy, Reid Bechtol and Will. Their ups and downs and all the suspense and mystery in this novel.  Colleen Coble always does such a tremendous job at keeping you interested and on the edge of your seat.
I was given a completely audio book for my honest opinion.

I had to force myself to finish this book.  There seemed to be too many plots, such that they became diluted and never fully explored.  And, the book assumes the reader has read previous books in this series.  You are plunged right in the middle of the drama of the core family without knowing what led to it.  Nothing is really explained in detail, just a few allusions here and there.  There's a decent amount of action in the book.  But, all of this was overshadowed by the main character (Jane) who is a police chief who does little but whine and fear what will happen.  The tone of the narrator adds to this "whiner" impression, as if we're to feel sorry for Jane.  On the other hand, the new detective Augusta is the type of woman I'd like to see as the police chief.  She has the moxy and smarts to do the job well.  A series built around her would be fantastic!

We are back in Pelican Harbor, AL after Sheriff Jane Hardy has uncovered the massive secret that has been kept from her for the last 15 years. She doesn't feel like she can trust her father, and she especially doesn't feel like she can trust the unexpected man from her past, Reid. Now that she has been reunited with her presumed dead teenage son, Jane is navigating her newfound motherhood and still fighting crime like a BOSS.When a murder takes place upon the major oil platform outside of town, it is discovered that the victim was secretly uncovering a environmental terrorist's plot. Jane and Reid once again both have ties to the crime and are forced into working together to save the rig and surrounding water life from devastating damage. But, it turns especially personal when their son, Will, is suddenly the terrorist's target. The terrorist threatens Will in an effort to get Jane to back off from her investigation. Terrified of the potential to lose her son once again after just getting him back, Jane and her little family have to bunker down and try to solve this puzzle before the expected attack.

The narration was very well done, the story was fast paced, and the ending left me excited to read book #3! Overall, a great second book in the series and I was pleasantly surprised when I found I preferred this one to the first book! Like I said before and I'll say again, good for you and good for grandma. This Christian fiction was clean while still being fast paced, exciting and realistic.

This was a feel good story about second chances and overcoming the past! I found the main characters very likable and enjoyed getting a good feel for who they are, their likes (beignets & root beer!) and dislikes. It also gives the reader a good sense for the setting: the people, the places, the food, which I found interesting. I did have a difficult time initially with following what was happening, the plot was complex and there were so many characters. Each character was given a lot of attention, regardless of their level of importance to the story, and I struggled to keep up with them. The ending tied up all the loose ends, with the exception of one critical to the relationship of the main characters. Looking forward to finding out what happens next!

Jane is the newly appointed sheriff in the small town of Pelican Harbor.  When a murder on the oil platform Zeus and a terrorist’s plot is discovered.  Not only does Jane have her hands full their, but after reuniting with her presumed dead son and his father Reid,  she must work with him and trust him to keep their son safe. Good romantic mystery.  I’m going to go back to read book one to see how exactly Jane got were she is but don’t feel like I needed to.

Unfortunatelly this book wasn't for me. I enjoy thriller and mistery a lot but I think this story lacks of it. It focuses a lot (most of the book) on the main characters (Jane and Reed) relationship and history. Actually, I like that (though it was very forseeable), but I think the book's mistery, the case, was forgotten most of the time, didn't have much content really (although the idea is very good, a propable terrorist attack to an oil station) and resolved very easilly and fast at the end. In summary, nice idea, nice characters but, in my opinion, a weak story

This one is not for me, but sounded really interesting. I still wanted to give it a try and was really excited, but it did not capture my attention like I wanted too. This is just a personal preference. I know others will love it.

Small town police chief Jane follows up on a hunch from a friend in town and ends up in a bigger mess than she was expecting. There is the threat of a terrorist attack on the oil platform just off the coat of Pelican Harbour. Her ex husband and the father of her son becomes her stand in partner due to the threat on their sons life. Will they be able to sort out their past while also protecting their sons life? That’s the question everyone, especially their son, want answered.

I got about a third of the way through this before I realized it was the second in a series. I thought there were a lot of plot holes but most were filled in even though I hadn’t read the first. The plot of this was fantastic. I found myself walking extra blocks with gatsby so I could get through each chapter. Highly recommend (but make sure you read One Little Lie first).

I wanted to L-O-V-E this like I did the first book in the Pelican Harbor series but it came up just -meh-. 

It felt like the main character, Jane, regressed in all the ways she had overcome her apprehensions in the previous book. It also felt like Reid flip-flopped from “Will is ours” to “I am the superior parent” making me dislike him...  which was disappointing. 

I also feel like Jane’s fathers involvement was confusing. I still am not sure if he’s a protagonist or not. 

Nonetheless, I look forward to book 3 and will choose to read the next one instead of listening to it.

I enjoyed the audio version of this book. Everything was going along fine until I got to chapter 14. It stopped reading after that. I could not restart it. I closed the book opened the book.  Still stuck at chapter 14. I then went and requested the netgalley copy of this book to finish.

I enjoyed it but this is the second audio book to stop working. I had this happen to another book I got from here. This book went a little further than the last one.

Two Reasons to Run is a great addition to the Pelican Harbor series. It is book two in the series and I highly recommend that, for this series, each book be read in order, or you will miss out on important details regarding the backgrounds of the two main characters, Jane and Reid. Each book has its own mystery that must be solved and the plot in each book is wrapped up nicely, however, Jane and Reid’s story is ongoing throughout the series.

I am simply loving the Pelican Harbor books! I read the first book, One Little Lie, and I listened to the second book, Two Reasons to Run. The audio narration for Two Reasons to Run was very nicely done. There were slight variations in voice for certain characters to help the listener know who was speaking. This audio book definitely kept me listening, as I tried to figure out who the villain was!

Will, the teenager in the story, frustrated me a bit in this plot. He just did not seem to “get” that he was in danger. I guess he had some growing up to do emotionally. He did eventually realize that the danger was real and ended up making some very good decisions. He was still a character that I really liked and I was happy with how everything resolved.

I have loved the dynamic between Reid and Jane ever since book one. They continued to have wonderfully complicated emotions toward each other in this book. I am really looking forward to book three!

There is a lot of action in Two Reasons to Run.  It starts off with a bang and keeps moving.  I didn't know when I began that it was a second book in a series.  Every reference to the previous story and what the heck happened with Jane, her dad, and Reid had me wishing I had read it.  I felt like I walked into the middle of the book and it took a while to keep the characters straight.  You don't have to read the first one to follow the plot of this one, terrorists, oil rig, murder....but I think it would have helped to navigate as she walked around her small town speaking to all of the people it seemed I was already supposed to know.

I really like the fast pace of this one.  The narrator made it easy to follow and differentiate between the characters as I listened.

Two Reasons to Run is non-stop action from start to finish. While I didn’t read the first book in the series, I caught on to what I’d missed easily enough and never felt lost. Described as romantic suspense, I thought it was far more suspense than romance.

The narrator of the audiobook failed to convince me of the danger the characters were in, but overall, it was well-done.

Two Reasons to Run in the second book in the Pelican Harbor series by Colleen Coble, which follows the life of Police Chief Jane Hardy. This is one of those series that you absolutely need to read book one prior to picking up book two otherwise the current situation between Jane, her fifteen year old son Will, and Reid (the father of her son) will make zero sense. 

Two Reasons to Run picks up pretty much right where One Little Lie left off. Jane has settled into her new routine which incorporates both Will and Reid in her life. While Jane is still unsure of Reid, they must work together to solve a murder that happened on a oil rig. The investigation heats up though when the terrorist threatens Will's life. 

From start to finish, the thriller aspect of this book was filled with twists and turns that kept you on your toes to figure out who was actually behind everything. 

I like that we delved deeper into both Jane's and Reid's characters. It is clear that both of them are still still affected by their pasts, but they aren't willing to give up on each other. I really felt for Reid in this one especially when someone from his past comes back and threatens to take everything from him. 

Overall, this is a great page-turner, and I look forward to this gang's next adventure.

This book was mediocre at best. It was very predictable I would definitely not be recommending this book

I hate to admit this, but I DNF this book around 25%. I was completely confused with the characters past(s) and didnt realize this was book 2 in a series until I googled to learn more. I think the actual premise of this one is really interesting and perhaps I'll come back to this once I read the 1st book. I really enjoy Colleen's writing style, but I was not invested in the plot and too confused to push forward.

A fast paced story which lent itself to the audiobook format as you couldn’t just sneak a peek at how it all turned out. Great characters and a sense of “back story” permeated this plot.

(3.5/5) This is book two in the Pelican Harbor series. Not having read the first book, I didn't find it difficult to follow this story at all. You do get a bit of the backstory of Jane, Will and Reid at the beginning and actually throughout the book so you get an understanding of their relationship. It was a good suspenseful read, although Jane at times frustrated and annoyed me. For being the police chief in her town, she didn't always make the smartest of decisions. It surprised me and left me wondering has to why she was doing certain things being a police officer. But even with those frustrating moments, I did enjoy this story. It kept me interested right until the end. The narration by Devon O'Day was very well done.

I listened to Two Reasons to Run by Colleen Coble on Audiobook.  I loved the narrators voice and must give some credit for a very well done job in that respect.  I received this audiobook as an ARC from NetGalley, and did not realize it was the second book in a series.  I actually felt this story was a bit cobbled together in some areas and now attribute this to a large part of the storyline being explored in the first book.  As a stand alone book it did ok, and left me interested in unraveling the different lines of the plot further.  I may need to locate One Little Lie to find out more!  In the meantime I would recommend this as a light, non-stressful domestic suspense.  Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book, all opinions are my own.  3.5 stars
