I’m not quite sure how to rate this book. It wasn’t for me. That being said, I checked it out because I’m a fan of Ben Sears’ artwork. While the artwork was fantastic, the story pacing and tone were not something I’m comfortable or familiar with. It felt like reading a hard PG-13/R horror story with jokes that didn’t quite land for me. I’m not sure who the intended audience is but it isn’t me.

Dead Dudes delivers on its description and curiosity-provoking title. It’s a fun book, eye-catching, and full of action and humor. Ideal for middle grades readers but also enjoyable for other age groups. The work of Ben Sears is always worth a look.

For the most part, the story was funny and compelling, and the book had a great art style. I was kind of confused by the ending, though.

This is an interesting Graphic Novel, about a team of TV Show Ghost Hunters who take the trip of a lifetime to the most haunted location in America.

This is a light-hearted take on the horror genre, at times a little TOO light-hearted for my tastes (I like a little scare in my horror) but still, it's a tone that works well.

The swear words are all bleeped out, which I found a little odd, though it does mean it can perhaps be aimed at a younger audience. The violence is a little graphic in a couple of places though, so bear that in mind.

I did enjoy the light and slightly goofy art style. I think it conveys the tone of the story well. The characters have enough about them to keep you interested, and the storyline is just quirky enough. This was a quick and easy read.

This graphic novel started off really strong. I've seen this concept of ghost chasers done before but I always tend to enjoy it. I like that they took it in a different direction. I enjoyed the setting and the characters enough to read it in one sitting.
The second half of the graphic novel was a let down. None of the characters decisions made sense and their choices would change 2 pages later. I just couldn't follow along with what was happening or why.

An interesting tale, we wish we could have seen more of the different stages of being a ghost and nurse frenzy's story. The ending was kind of naff. My main issue, however, is the drawing style, the characters lack much distinction between one another so it's hard to tell who is who made worse by the fact that when we are first introduced to the Parawarriors, the blond guy is Todd and the bald bearded guy is Jones, but later in the story, they switch places.

Dead Dudes by Christopher Sebela and Ben Sears is a goofy little graphic novel about paranormal investigators that become ghosts and want to prove to the world that ghosts exist when their rivals show up to the place their haunting.

The Ghost Bros, which is what the protagonists call their team, are quite clearly modeled after the Ghost Adventures crew while the rivsls give off a Ghost Hunters vibe.

The art is just okay. Not great but not awful. It seems to be purposefully messy. The plot is interesting but gets a bit too odd and convoluted at the end. There's no character growth. Everyone stays the same. The author has bleeps instead of actual swearing which gets quite annoying. Either swear or don't swear. Don't try and be cute and live in the middle.

This was fun but could have been a lot better. The story tried to do to much and it didn't have enough going for it to make up for the shortcomings.

Oh, there are no words for just how much I loved this comic! I admit I am one of the believers in ghosts and I spent many a night watching Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, heck, any ghost-related show! This is all of those and then some.

The Ghost Bros go to prove spirits are real and get killed by them and become ghosts themselves. On the 1st Anniversary of their deaths, their cable channel does a “live ghost hunting” show of the place they died. Now the Ghost bros must save their hated competitors while still trying to make the world see Ghost are real.

This was pure genius. Sebela and Sears did an amazing job on the story and the artwork. I want more Ghost Bros! Make it a multi-series, make it an animated TV show!

You have got to read this if you are just a little bit comic nerd and ghost nerd.

This was so much FUN! I love ghost hunter shows and I really enjoyed this concept. A great read to get you in the mood for spooky season. The art was nice and I liked how the story flew. For a book called "Dead Dudes" I should've been prepared for how many times the word "Dude" would be used. This was really just a fun and quick read.

I really enjoyed the art style they had used, but I feel that the story could have use more polishing and development. I was very intrigued with the story initially, but gradually lost interest as the plot progressed. Additionally, I think that the novel had great and unique ideas but the execution was lacking. For example, the novel is missing a lot of character development so I was not invested in any of the characters or what happened in the plot. I think that if the novel was condensed, I may have been more likely to finish the novel. However, I still think that this graphic novel is a good option if you are looking for a lighthearted and fun paranormal read for the summer. I think that many people would enjoy the sorry, but I personally could not connect with it. Although I did not finish the novel, I am not opposed to trying another work by the author.

Only criticism is that the bleeping out of bad words made it confusing. Why not just not include it or just include it just raise the age of intended audience. Also there is a mistake on I believe page 58 when we meet the extreme paranormal guys. They mix up two of the characters names and it confuses the story a bit. I didn’t know who jones was until later in the story because of this mistake. But otherwise the book is an interesting story.

They rock up with all the gear they could possibly need and get their producer to lock them in, lets just say, not only do they get their footage, they also get a one way ticket to the after life.

Being dead isn’t the worst part, they are sharing it with bloodthirsty inmates, a psycho nurse and crazy warden. It goes from bad to worse when a year later their deadly rivals the Parawarriors turn up ready to steal their glory, the Ghost Bros are not going to take it lying down. They are going to use their new ghostly skills to stick it to the Parawarriors and hopefully prevent the bloodthirsty ghosts from escaping in the process.

Dead Dudes is definitely a fun, don’t take too seriously read. It’s a colourful book and flows nicely, the horror is subtle so don’t worry you will get sleep after reading it. The only thing that annoyed me about it was the bleep out swearing, there was too much of it, just swear already - that’s just me though I have a mouth like a sailor!

I appreciate having had an opportunity to read and review this book. The appeal of this particular book was not evident to me, and if I cannot file a generally positive review I prefer simply to advise the publisher to that effect and file no review at all.

Ghost Bros is a 'paranormal reality' show on its last legs, not least because the more 'extreme' Parawarriors have jumped the bandwagon and stolen their thunder by having an even higher level of bullshit. So, staring cancellation in the face, they go for the big one: "The most haunted place in the world, dude. No one's ever investigated it. And if what I heard is true, it's the Chernobyl of ghosts, bro." An abandoned Montana prison, already steeped in death before its final, catastrophic fire. The Bros have always varied in how much they really believe in ghosts, but soon enough they get the answer – not least because they're now ghosts themselves. Sebela comes up with some interesting mechanics for how ghosts work, but I still never felt fully invested in this, nor able reliably to remember which character was who; this probably wasn't helped by Ben Sears' art, which served largely to remind me that while Marc Ellerby makes it look easy to draw like Marc Ellerby, it really isn't.
Also, the Bros' inadvertently Goatse logo, which we only see once that I recall, is vastly more entertaining than the bleeped swearing, the sort of running joke you keep hoping might be about to get funny but which never quite does.

This is a really fun and funny book. The ghost bros’ TV show shows a humorous side of reality TV and the personalities of the three bros were well written. They each had their own reasons for working on the show which created an interesting group dynamic as they tried to accomplish their goals sometimes at the expense of their bros.

The horror aspect was a good mix creepy but not too serious. The humorous tone did at times interfere with some of the horror aspects; the characters were pretty flippant at times about the gory death around them. Readers looking for something really terrifying may be disappointed, though may also be a bit too gory and violent for readers at the younger end of YA. The artwork was well done and enhanced the creepy setting. The visual representation of the ghost powers was particularly interesting and overall the artwork fit the tone of the book well.

It's a graphic novel about ghost hunters who die and come back as ghosts themselves. The concept itself sounds awesome and should be enough to convince many to check this book out.

Dude, that was fun!

At first, I was afraid that the dudes are going to be hipermasculine and boring, but each had his own trait--one had ambition, one was trying to make a name for himself, and the last was full of anxiety and unable to stop his friends.

The whole theme of being "dudes" and "bros" was at no point taken seriously and that was a part of the joke. Characters called each other dudes even when it was completely uncalled-for, giving a very light-hearted tone to the book. The story was just as lighthearted.

Whenever I read graphic novels, the style of illustrations plays an important role in whether or not I'll be able to follow the story and enjoy it. Here, it was quite simple and clear. Despite the subject matter, there was not a lot of gore, and even if there was some blood depicted, it was difficult to take it seriously because of the style.

It was a great stand-alone graphic novel.

There's nothing wrong with this graphic novel, it just wasn't the thing for me.

Following a team of ghost hunters who become ghosts themselves, dead dudes has a fast paced, zany plot and well-fitting art style. I can't really describe why but the style of humor just didn't resonate with me and seeing as above all else this book is definitely meant to be humorous, I wasn't able to enjoy it.

Humor is super subjective though so if it sounds interesting to you, I'd definitely still check it out.

This was a fun story with pretty good art. I was definitely entertained and interested, but at times the story was a little predictable. The characters were ok but I wasn’t very invested in any of them surviving (Which was maybe for the best). Three guys have one of those ghost hunting shows that are everywhere these days called Ghost bros. When heir show is being shut down due to the flood of ghost hunting shows, most better, the team makes a last ditch effort and goes to the scariest and most haunted place on earth, an abandoned prison and hospital for the insane in Montana. Silliness and ghosts ensue.
