Not the best Tarryn Fisher book I've read. This one was a little flat for me. I found the characters really boring although I thought there could have been so much potential... I am very sad to give this a 2/5 considering "The Wives" was a solid 5 for me :(

I love the writing style of Tarryn Fisher and this book did not disappoint. The beginning of the book moved slowly as the unique writing of this story unfolds, by the end, the twists and turns leave you dizzy and your shocked at the ending, in true Tarryn style.

I wasn't sure if I should request a Tarryn Fisher book. I've tried her before and she's just too dark for me most of the time. I did like The Wives tho so I thought I'd give her another shot. I am honestly sorry I did. I should just accept that her writing and style are not for me. Reading this book I felt like I wasn't cool enough to get what was cool about it. I just felt annoyed and horrified. I hated all of the characters as well. Which is maybe the point? I don't know either way, I don't like leaving negative reviews based simply on my own preference/tolerance for dark fiction. I hope her fans enjoy her for many years to come. Sadly despite my best efforts I am not one of those fans.

Who doesn’t love a good Tarryn Fisher book?!? This book, like her others, is a page turner and just when you think you might have it all figured out, plot twist!

The Wrong Family is one that I am happy I picked up, and is the first book I’ve read by Tarryn. This book was gripping and intriguing. The storyline, plot, and characters were interesting, and it was neat being in the minds of the two main characters and to see the way through their thought process. For me, I was a little confused when it went back and forth between ‘then’ and ‘now’ / different parts. This book was suspenseful, my heart beat fast a few times throughout, and the last 30% had me on the edge of my seat. Everything was completely unexpected. Loved how it took place in Seattle, and I can’t stop thinking about that epilogue!!

This book was absolutely insane and not in the ways that I enjoy. Another by this author where mental illness is used as a plot twist or as a way to villainize a character… not for me. My friend Brooke said it best when she called this a bad ripoff of Parasite! ☹️

On the outside, Winnie and Nigel appear to be the perfect couple... but appearances can be deceiving. Juno is fascinated by them and has developed a friendship with their son. I don't want to go into more detail because this book is much better if you go in without reading too much summary. I loved The Wives by Tarryn Fisher and, while this book isn't as twisty as that one (which, to be fair, would be hard to top), I really enjoyed this one. I will definitely read more by Tarryn Fisher- when you read this, make sure you have time to read it all in one or two sessions. Once I hit 50%, I couldn't put it down!

This book was not great. Very forgettable plot and characters. There were a couple of interesting twists, but that couldn't make up for the dragging story. Did not enjoy.

I was pretty disappointed with this book. I love Tarryn Fischer and I know this isn’t indicative of her work as a whole. Read Mud Vein if you’re in the mood for a mind-blowing thriller. This isn’t it, though. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The Wrong Family was everything I expect from Ms. Fisher. It was twisted, dark, and a complete thrill ride. I loved this book so much. Every book gets better and more twisted than the last. This is a real page-Turner and kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes thrillers!

A tense interesting thriller with quite a twist at the end! The content/plot of this one didn't resonate with me as much as some of the author's other books, but it still gets points for a genuinely surprising ending.

Content warnings: mental illness, addiction, death, infidelity

I see the name TARRYN FISHER I come running. Sadly though this one did not live up to the rest of her books. Nevertheless, I will always hurry to get my hands on whatever she writes. I wish her the best of luck and I look forward to the next novel

Whoa! What a crazy, twisted suspense! Parts gave me chills and made me uncomfortable to read. Every time I thought I had a grasp on what was really happening, I was thrown by a twist to an alternative truth which had me questioning everything. Loved the flawed characters and the original storyline. This book was a page turner for me and I had a hard time setting it down.

Tarryn Fisher definitely has twisty and complex down! This book took me for a ride, Winnie and Juno and their connected lives. The idea of the perfect family being shattered in the shadows. The writing is great, it really takes the reader on a journey, needing to know what is going to happen next, needing the next secret to be revealed. D

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. I do not like to read the whole summary of any book before I read it. I have to be honest, it did take me some time to actually finish this book, but when I got toward the end, OH BOY!!!! I just had to keep reading and was very happy I stuck it out in the end! I love The Wives also, so I will recommend this one and read more by this author! Thank you again to NetGalley!

I’m not sure. It is strange. A strange book. But of course that is also part of a psychological thriller?

To be honest, I hesitated a few times to read on. Tarryn has a certain writing style where you really have to read between the lines. And I’m used to that because this is not the first book I read by her. I loved Love Me With Lies series and I loved Atheist who kneel and pray apart. But I was still intrigued with the latter.

At The Wrong Family, I just wanted to know if the secret was right. That’s exactly why I kept reading, but boy, I thought it was a bit boring. You went through the day by day things that happened in the house and that was pretty much the only scene we saw.

Before you attack me, I understand this story was about maternal feelings and what it feels like when someone takes or wants to take or take away your child. I get the gist. I’m just not super intrigued.

Then why 3.5 stars?
Well, because I thought the ending was quite powerful. I didn’t see it coming very late. It was hinted at, but it took a while before I realized what was going to happen. I had not foreseen the when at all and that piece held my attention so well. It was very well done and the gist of what family can do with people (in both a good and bad way) was really clear.

The whole build up to it just took a little too long for me. Or well … Too little happened for me.

sorry, forgot to post here. Did post on Amazon.de and Goodreads and blog

Tarryn Fisher hit it out of the park again. This novel had secrets that kept you guessing and those secrets helped develop a storyline that was unique and clever. The main characters, Winnie, Nigel and Juno all had such depth to them and I found myself constantly trying to figure them out. The storyline was very different from anything I have ever read, but the readability was just like Tarryn Fisher's other books. I have to say that the storyline has me second guess different noises I hear in my house. Well done Tarryn. I look forward to your next book!

I had such high hopes for this book after reading and loving THE WIVES, but The Wrong Family couldn’t deliver.
The twists were shocking, but lukewarm.

What a great psyco thriller! Loved all the twists and turns. Great character, with Juno being my favorite.
