I am not ashamed to admit that I am absolutely addicted to family suspense novels!! At one point you know how crazy big families can be with all their past histories and secrets but then you read another superhit book and you're back to square one. Families can truly be messed up and this thrilling tale proved it to me.

I am someone who only reads romance novels but then I saw that my favourite author was doing this book and yeah , there was no chance I was missing this book no matter what genre. So I signed my crazy ass up for one hell of an adventure because I knew that this author won't make me regret even a second of it!!

The story focuses on Nigel and Winnie and their son Samuel. One day Juno , who was staying with them , overhears a certain argument and decides to unfold all the secret's this crazy family holds. This set her on her path filled with deceit and lies and there was no one she could trust. And what she found might just change everything they all had ever known!!

The thrill in this book , goddamn , the thrill !! I was at the edge of my seat for the whole book and I can't even tell you guys how much time it took me to get over these characters!! They were a crazy bunch and I am so glad that I got to read them! A definite recommendation to all the Thriller Books lovers out there!!

I will never look at the opening of my home’s crawl space the same way ever again. Not after this book!

At sixty-seven, Juno’s life is not what she thought it would be. Now a disgraced therapist, she is homeless and has a record, plus she has a debilitating disease that will probably kill her. However, she feels she’s a good judge of character.

Across the park from where Juno lives, is the large home of the Crouch family: Winnie, Nigel and thirteen-year-old Sam. They seem to have it all. They are even adding onto a house that is much too big for a family of three.

One day, when the construction guys are having lunch in the park, Juno slips in and looks around. She could be very, very comfy there. She takes a few things. How could anyone with this much miss so little? And she’s right. No one notices.

As the construction goes on, Juno decides to make the Crouch’s home hers. Awfully creepy! The family notices little things that are odd, but never even dream of what is really happening. Juno pokes around in their papers and drawers, until she discovers their secret. A BIG secret that must be brought to the light.

Two reason that the odd little things distract from their taking full notice is that 1) Winne and Nigel’s marriage is falling apart and 2) Winnie’s brother, Dakota, is losing his battle with alchol and drugs.

The ending of this tautly written thriller blew me away. I can’t wait until somebody else reads it and we can talk about it!

The Wrong Family receives 6 out of 5 stars in Julie’s world.

I feel like I'm going to struggle on writing this review because I'm still fleshing out on how I feel about The Wrong Family by Tarryn Fisher. I love Tarryn's previous books that I have read. This one has a different vibe to it. It was written in the third person which threw me off a bit. It was quite confusing in the beginning but once you started to give in to the chapters, you figured out what was going on. I don't want to say too much because there are a lot of plot lines and twists and turns that you just didn't see coming. It was an interesting read. It did make you think a bit. It wasn't my typical Tarryn read but I still enjoyed it.

I will admit, the first quarter to one-third of "The Wrong Family" let me sort of doubtful about where the book was going, as it felt like the plot really wasn't going anywhere. But after getting through the initial "slump" (for lack of a better word) of the beginning of the novel, then it really took off. I could hardly put it down after reaching that point.

"The Wrong Family" had a tautly intricate and suspenseful plot, and was compelling. Once you start, you won't be able to put it down.

A creepy storyline that keeps you reading, but the character development is lacking. Parts of the story seemed to be just thrown in without really adding anything to the story. Could have been so much better.

The Wrong Family will have you scratching your head trying to determine who in the family has earned the title of the most craziest mixed up one.

A book of unlikeable characters , which I always like.

The book is slow and steady to start but look out: the twists are soon coming . Unbelievable but so good.

I wont say more so I don't give anything away, you are better to go into the book bind and follow the author's trail.

Thanks to Net Galley and Harlequin - Trade Publishing (US and Canada) - Graydon House for a mind boggling read.

The Wrong Family is told in parts. The first part.. I thought it was going nowhere. If you’re here mid-read searching for answers much like I was, yes keep going. It takes a while but as soon as part two hits... it’ll all click.

Part two makes you look at every single thing differently. And everything makes sense.... until it doesn’t.

The last bit was so over the top and chaotic I’d have thought of a million other ways for it to go... nonetheless this is what we get and it works fine but still... chaos.

A little spoiler here:
I didn’t love Dakota as a character. I didn’t feel like he fit well in the story and he was just plugged in to make a twist. But it wasn’t twisty after all because I saw it coming a mile away when he was *missing*.

LONG STORY SHORT:

The epilogue was my favorite part.
What can I say? I like disturbing things *shrugs*

The Wrong Family is a fun thriller to read, although it didn't invoke as many gasps at plot twists as I would have liked. Juno is living in a house with the Crouch family - Winnie, Nigel and their son Sam. She is fascinated with their lives, and their secrets. I can't say more without spoiling some of the surprises in this book, but I will say that I guessed many of the plot twists ahead of time. I think after reading several psychological thrillers, you come to expect things to not be the way they seem and can see them coming a mile away.

However, the conclusion of this book left me breathless. If you like twisty thrillers, you'll enjoy this book, even if you see what is coming for most of the book.

Thanks to Netgalley for my advance copy!

The Wrong Family is a must-read, dark psychological thriller about two women Juno and Winnie. Both more alike than different, both mental health professionals, both over-involved in their client's lives, both interfered with outcomes, and not capable of seeing what's in front of them, both having controlling issues, both having mental health issues that they cannot see in themselves.

The Wrong Family leaves more questions than answers and is a great talking point on all the issues that take place along the way. You will find yourself reading but actually asking if what is happening in this story could really occur in real life. I guess they call these teachable moments, but what the actual hell? You'll understand that last statement once you read this story!

The Wrong Family by Tarryn Fisher is a twisty psychological thriller that will certainly keep you guessing at each and every turn. Told from the alternating perspectives of Juno and Winnie, secrets are strategically revealed in such a way that the individual credibility of each woman remains in a kind of diabolical limbo throughout thr narrative. Juno, in particular, is a richly drawn, multi-layered character whose circumstances will stay in my mind for a very long time.

This was my first read from Tarryn Fisher, but The Wives will certainly be added to my TBR without delay.

Many thanks to NetGalley and HARLEQUIN - Trade Publishing (U.S. & Canada) for the opportunity to read this ARC.

3.5 stars

Leave it to Tarryn Fisher to write something evocative and slightly out of my comfort zone. I loved how little bits of the truth were scattered through the narrative in a way that allowed it to slowly reveal itself. Telling the story from two viewpoints added to the overall impression and I found myself wanting to hear the story from Nigel and Samuel's points of view too.

In all, I have to give this 3 stars for the story and an extra .5 stars for the way the story unfolded.

I was excited to read this book after enjoying THE WIVES by the same author. This book was quite different, but similar in that Fisher’s writing kept you wanting to read more.

Juno, who is staying with Winnie, Nigel, and their son Samuel, thinks the Crouches have a picture perfect life with their beautiful home and happy family. Then, one night she overhears and argument between Winnie and Nigel, and she can’t help herself: she decides she needs to intervene.

I enjoyed this book - the plot kept moving, the twists were surprising, and overall just a great thriller. I look forward to reading future books by Taryn Fisher.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

THE WIVES was a favorite of mine last year (and also the first book I read in 2020), so to say I was eager to pick this up would be an understatement. There is something about Fisher's writing that is just so captivating, the spine-tingling kind. Add the fact that this book was inspired by a true story passed down from Fisher's aunt...I was HOOKED.

The last 50 pages were just gut-wrenching; this could easily be made into a phenomenal movie and I would not be surprised if the motion picture rights get snatched up quickly after publication.

Here is the thing. The epilogue. That's the thing. It MAKES the entire book. I keep thinking about it and there are things I will NEVER do and things I will make sure I ALWAYS do when buying a house because of this book. That may be confusing now, but if you read the book you will totally get it!

I took off 1/4 of a star towards the rating only because there is a recurring trope in this one that THE WIVES had as well and it was disappointing to see it resurface in her newest.

Loved this! New author for me, but I am glad I went there. Usually I can guess the ending to a mystery pretty quick- but not this one.

Tarryn Fisher has done it again. I think I might even like The Wrong Family better than The Wives!

Winnie and Nigel seem like your typical family. Living in a beautiful house near the park, doting on their son Sam. It seems perfect on the surface. Juno knows what's underneath the surface. Secrets, lies, and pain.

With every chapter I though I knew what was going on, then little pieces of information would realize the darkness lurking in the past.

The Wrong Family is the best book I have read all year. I can’t even begin to describe how this story made me feel. All I can do is recommend it to everyone I know. It is truly one of its kind, and it was incredible.

Eh, not as good as The Wives, especially because I think Tarryn Fisher has the habit of cramming so much in at the end, but people who like Mary Kubica or Gillian Flynn will like it. One of those I'm glad I know about because I'm sure I'll end up recommending it to people.

Wow! This one was a bit creepy. Do you feel like you are being watched? Do things seems just a little off in your own home? A lingering smell? A family with secrets is never truly happy.

Tarryn Fisher offers a unique approach in this psychological thriller with a few unconventional circumstances and moderate plot twists. While the storyline held some predictability and dialogue that seemed oddly at war with itself, it was made up for in characterization. The cast was all deviously crafted with irritative and unlikable qualities that, not only fell in line with the tone of the plot, but left the reader second guessing just about everyone.

I literally squealed when I got the email from NetGalley with the widget for this book. The Wrong Family was one of my most anticipated books for 2020, after reading The Wives earlier this year. The Wives was one of the best thrillers I’ve read, so I was impatiently waiting for this one. Let me tell you—IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT.
WHOMP—feel that? That was the curveball Tarryn Fisher just threw at your face. Have you ever been wrong about someone? Read this book about the Crouch family and Juno, and find out just how wrong someone can be.
This book publishes on December 29, 2020—and now you know what you’re spending your Christmas gift cards on. You’re welcome.
