Being a person who has coped with anxiety most of my life, I found this small book big on good advice and techniques on handling stressful situations. I even realized what type of anxiety I have. It is written in language very understandable and not a lot of unnecessary information. I recommend it to anyone looking for ways to combat their feelings.

This pocket guide had some great ideas for helping people or myself with anxiety. Many are methods I have heard from before but it was nice to have everything in reference form. This book does not cover the use of medication at all.

Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to review this book.

Anyone with anxiety can benefit from the information and tips in this book. As the title suggests, it's a "pocket guide" to anxiety, not an extensive guide, so I would still suggest that someone suffering from extreme anxiety should seek out help from a professional. However, I think someone who already is on the path of working on their anxiety would benefit greatly from this guide which gives tips and exercises on how to confront anxiety head-on and deal with it in the moment.

This is a great little book for someone that is familiar with mindbody practices and how they can support anxious tendencies. It's helpful that the tools provided are given in detail, allowing for a full understanding of the technique, leaving little room for error. An accompanying audio track for the relaxation exercises would be helpful, but not necessary. I will recommend this book to clients!

Hi everyone!

First of all I want to say that I've been dealing with anxiety and panic attacks for over a year now and lately I’m getting a lot better. So I wanted to read this just to understand anxiety and get even better.

I've read many articles and watched many videos to find a solution and the main problem was that everyone always says something different that they liked.
Instead, this book suggest all the different things you could do to ease your anxiety: how to relax you body and mind (with various techniques), how to practice self care, nutrients and physical activity you need and most important how to deal with anxiety on the spot. So you will have the opportunity to choose which things fit you better and start using them in your everyday life.

In the end this is a great short read that could definitely help everyone who is feeling a little anxious or someone that is dealing with panic attacks. I'll definitely use the new things that it taught me the next time I feel scared or overwhelmed

This is an easy to read and sensible guide to managing anxiety.

It is written in plain English and succinctly explains the causes and treatments of anxiety in a simple yet non-patronising manner.

I found the chapter on facing your fears particularly interesting and look forward to applying the knowledge to my own anxieties.

Parts of this book would be very helpful for teenagers - the clear explanations and lack of judgement mean than it is an accessible book for school students experiencing anxiety. This book is clearly aimed at adults, however, and so I would want to select chapters carefully rather than using the whole book.

I did feel that the chapters on exercise and diet didn't quite match the standard of the rest of the book - some terms went undefined and I do feel that these sections would have benefited from some diagrams and clearer links to research.

Nevertheless, this is a very good book which covers a deceptively wide range of strategies for dealing with anxiety, despite its short and accessible format.

This is a compact, easy read on what anxiety is, how it affects the mind and body, and how to cope with it in various ways. It begins by explaining various forms of anxiety and common ways to relax the body and mind, followed by several ways to alleviate anxiety in daily life. These include changing thought patterns, exposure to what causes the anxiety, eating a good diet and exercising, and ways to make your life a little less stressful.

This is a good book to read and keep on hand if you are just learning about anxiety and how to manage it. It could be something to read on a commute or keep on hand in a purse if you find you ever need it. Most of the insights in it are not things that can't be found anywhere else, such as an internet search or many other books, but they are perfectly good for someone looking for a quick, broad overview of the topic, either for themselves or someone they care about. I also like how it ends with ways to cope with anxiety you may be dealing with in a particular situation, like a guide in an emergency, and even invites you to list your own favorite ways of coping, so that you can remember them when you need them.

These are great little books! I hope they're available digitally, because they're perfect to have on my phone to pull up when I need them, along with my breathing app. They're full of good tips and are actually helpful!

This is a neat book. I like the idea of a pocket guide of strategies to cope with anxiety. It offers a great overview of different methods - changing thinking patterns, the benefits of exercise for anxiety, and breathing exercises that even this skeptic was willing to try. I strongly disagree with the statement that all fear can be treated with exposure therapy; I'm the exception to that rule, it seems. But that's a small compliment in what is otherwise a book that I have a feeling I'll be turning to again and again.
