I really enjoyed this book! This was my first Casey McQuiston book and it will not be my last!

I was apprehensive about the magical realism, but I did enjoy it!

The steamy scenes in this book were just enough!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced digital copy of this book!

August recently moved to New York City to attend college. She has unique and fun roommates, She is away from her mom who has forced her to help with a missing persons case from the 70s her whole life, and finally determined to finish her degree. August soon meets Jane on the subway and is fully enamored with this gorgeous hippy chick. Their connection grows, but only on the subway. You see, Jane is stuck on the subway and has no idea why. I enjoyed this book and the historical time travel aspect. Such a unique experience and I was sucked in from the beginning.

Romance is usually not high up on my list of favorite genres, but this book was great! I really liked the characters, I liked the storyline, I liked the setting, I liked the ending, and most of all, I loved reading the alternate history element in the book.

Casey McQuiston’s One Last Stop was an epic ride from start to finish. Even though I went into it already knowing a little about the mysterious Jane, I was still on the edge of my seat the whole way through never knowing what would come next. This book is the perfect blend of romance, humor and sci-fi and everything I could have hoped for from a Casey McQuiston book.

Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin press for the arc!

I absolutely loved this book! I was so engrossed by the characters right off the bat. Their writing is out of this world, if you've been in a reading slump this is a great place to start, it absolutely blew me away!

I absolutely adored this book, and I somehow ended up loving the characters even more than I thought I would.

Life changing sapphic romance from one of my favorite authors. Exactly the representation I craved, with lots of laughs and quirky elements that make Jane and August so memorable. Casey McQuiston is an autobuy author from now on.

TW: past homophobic violence, off page death, dealings with anxiety, depression, and familial estrangement

This book follows cynical 23 year old August as she moves to New York City, which for her is just another place on the map. She doesn’t expect New York to provide any special or cinematic treatment for her. But then she meet Jane on the subway and everything starts to slide sideways…because Jane is from the 1970’s and she’s stuck in a loop on the Q train.

So, my absolute favorite thing about this book was the gigantic cast of eccentric, lovable characters; from August’s chaotic roommates, to the crew at Billy’s, to all the Brooklyn drag queens, to Jane herself. I really couldn’t tell which of them is my favorite, but Jane, Myla, Niko, & Isaiah are definitely the ones that had me cracking up the most. I also love how much LGBTQIA+ representation was shown across this cast of characters and story!

The only complaint/comment I have about this book is that the pacing was off, or maybe just really slow?? To me the beginning was not very interesting, and very angsty for no apparent reason. I just didn’t keep me as hooked as I would have liked. It did eventually pick up and get very interesting when the Jane-stuck-in-time plot moves to the forefront.

Overall, One Last Stop is a wholesome, longing love story, about finding your proper fit in the universe. To be honest, I think I might even enjoy this book more as a reread.

4.5/5 stars

This book set me on a magical realism ride that hasn't quit. Normally I'm not a fan of any time-travel type books, and romance is not my preferred genre, but these characters captured my heart. I loved how the setting was its own character in the book; the train, the cityscape, the diner all added to Jane and August’s story. The author managed to capture the falling-in-lust feeling between August and Jane achingly well and August’s platonic friendships were superbly written and made me love her even more. Five enthusiastic stars.

ugh so cute! I liked this better than Red White and Royal Blue, actually. The portrayal of queer New Yorkers is so real, lol.

This is an adorable Rom-Com with a sci-fi twist. Casey McQuiston hits it out of the park again - this time with a young women, new to NYC, who becomes friendly with a passenger on her commute. CM's writing is simply lovely. Her characters are deeply defined and could walk right off the page.

I’m actually giving this a 4.5 out of 5 stars! But I loved this sooo much! The characters were perfect! I would read anything with these characters! The only reason I docked half a point is because it didn’t hit me as hard as Red White and Royal Blue did, but I still loved this sooo much! Can’t wait to read more from this author!

Just such a rich, sweet story. Loved the magical realism / time travel elements. Such a fun way to raise the stakes for the story. Loved following all kinds of relationships: romantic, friendship, familial, and Seeing how they all play an important part in a persons life.

Casey McQuiston is amazing! While I didn't love this one as much as I loved Red, White, and Royal Blue, it's still a delightful romp of a romance novel! Yes please to more punk lesbians displaced from the 70s! Definitely will be recommending Casey McQuiston to pretty much everyone. Here's hoping the author writes a bunch more!

I am thankful to the publisher for the opportunity to offer my unbiased opinion.

Unfortunately around 30% I realized this was not going to be the book for me. I didn’t realize that there was going to be a specific kind of component. And that component did not interest me.

I may have moved forward with the story if I felt the “romance.” But I liked the friends so much more than the heroines. It felt like it didn’t matter how it ended.

Review: If you recognize the author’s name, it’s because they also wrote Red, White, and Royal Blue. One Last Stop is an f/f romance that, while a bit too long for my liking, is one that I really enjoyed. It has a bit of a science-fiction vibe because Jane is stuck on the subway – from the 70’s. August is in the present day, falling in love with Jane, and trying to figure out how to save her, while still keeping her around. I thought both women were fascinating individuals, though I particularly loved Jane. It was fun learning more about her past! McQuiston seems to be really good at writing secondary characters too, which is something I love in a book. 4/5 stars.

When cynical August moves to New York City in order to prove herself right- that the only way to get through life is by herself, she is proven wrong by working at a 24-hour pancake and moving in with an eccentric group of roommates. But everything really changes when she sees Jane on the subway- maybe the coolest girl she has every seen. Charming, mysterious, and amazing hair-Jane. Who gives her an amazing leather jacket with August needs it the most-Jane. But turns out their is a problem with August's subway crush- she is from 1975 and stuck on the subway. August must decide if she is all in so she can help Jane.

This book was out of the ordinary, sexy, and funny. I loved the secondary characters just as much as Jane and August. This is a great addition to McQuiston's lineup of books.
