I’ve always loved Vampire stories. Especially when I was in my teens. But lately I haven’t read many Vampire books. So when I got the opportunity to read ‘Bane’s Choice’ I got super excited.

In ‘Bane’s Choice’ we meet Bane. Bane has been a vampire for more than 300 years and he has lost his humanity a long time ago. The one thing he lives for is his Vampire Motorcycle Club, and he is determined to protect it from dark magic and evil. One day, he accidentally comes into contact with a human doctor Ryan St. Cloud. She should mean nothing to Dane. But from the moment Dane meets Ryan, he feels his cold heart start to beat again. And an intense romance begins. Unfortunately evil doesn’t care, and soon Bane and Ryan have to fight to stay safe.

When I started reading, it took me a long time to really get into the story. It felt like the story to started right in the middle, and I really had to get used to the different characters. But from the moment Ryan came into the story, I started to like this book more and more.

Bane’s character is definitely one that got better the further in the book I came. He seemed so cold and dark. But after he met Ryan, I started loving him more and more. Ryan’s character was my favorite. She was obviously the ‘weakest’, being human between vampires does that, but she was very brave and wouldn’t get bossed around. Not even by Bane, the most handsome guy she has ever seen. I loved how she stood up for herself.

The romance between Bane and Ryan started very fast, but it didn’t bother me that much. What did bother me at times was the pace of this book. One minute we would be in Bane’s place and the next we are in the motorcycle club. Bane and Ryan are having a romantic moment, bam they have to fight for their life. I really had to go back a few times to check if I wasn’t missing a page.

The action filled moments where nice, but could have been a little more detailed. And how was Ryan able to use her ‘gifts’ all of a sudden? I didn’t really get that part at all.

But overall I had fun reading this book, and would definitely like to read a second book in the series.

I was really excited about this book... it sounded like it would be something I would really enjoy. But for some reason, it fell sort of flat for me. I think the pacing was off and while I really did like Bane and Meara, something about Ryan just didn't sit right with me. I like that she was a fierce, independent woman who stood up for herself and what she wanted. But I didn't love her for some reason. And as much as I enjoy romance, I think I'm falling out of love with the instalove. Fated love is one thing, but this was just straight up instalove without much character development to let the reader be on the same page. Overall it wasn't a bad read and I did enjoy it for the most part, but I'm not sure I'll continue the series.

Bane is the leader of the Vampire MCs. He is also a Vampire. When some warlocks enter his territory with intent to take over its up to him and his group to stop them. Dr St Cloud works the ER. When one of her patients has a mysterious visitor who disappears with her patient, she sets out to find out what’s going on. This story made me laugh and also long in many places. I have never read one of her books that I did not enjoy!

I'm not usually one for motorcycle club books, but this one really drew me in. Within a few pages I was completely invested in these new characters and this new world. As book 1 in a series, I can't wait to see more!

Bane is the leader of a motorcycle club as well as the leader of their vampire... group? He's been burned before by magical foes, so takes special offense when they try to take what he deems "his territory." As if he needed more drama, he also get tasked with doing a last minute life-saving "turn" for an old friend right after a big battle. This is still all things he can manage, until he runs into a doctor who can resist his compulsion. Ryan is... special. Let's just say that she's got some unresolved family issues and leave it at that.

These two are clearly fated for one another, but they try to save each other to the detriment of their relationship. A highlight of the book, however, was all the side characters. With such a rich world, I'm sure we will be seeing more of everyone in the future (or at least I hope so!). Ryan and Bane get a much deserved HEA while we get the building of a really interesting and unique world to play in. I'm excited for all the possibilities here!

The first in the Vampire Motorcycle Club, Bane’s Choice, was a promising read. I liked the premise of this story however the MC aspect is minimal. Secrets, intrigue, magic and control, Bane’s Choice has complex, engaging characters and an array of dynamic support characters. I like this story and will look to read more of this series.

It’s been a very long time since I have read anything by Alyssa Day, but I remember really enjoying her Paranormal Romance books in the past, so I thought that I would give this new series a shot. BANE’S CHOICE is book one in the Vampire Motorcycle Club. And obviously, the series title totally caught my attention. But I’m afraid that I may have had some high expectations because I was a little disappointed in this book.

It’s definitely not a terrible book by any means, but I did feel like there was a lot of info dumping in the beginning and also just a big mixture of different creatures. There’s mention of witches and warlocks and even necromancers. I guess I had the wrong idea that this would just be a vampire romance series. So if you’re going into this series thinking the same thing, there’s actually quite a lot of other paranormal creatures involved as well.

As for Day’s writing, I liked it. I kind of wished that it would be smoother just because the dialogue felt quite choppy to me. Bane didn’t completely win me over, but I think that’s also because of his roughness. It’s been a while since I’ve read a hero who just doesn’t seem to care. Overall, I liked it, but I would’ve liked more polished writing and characters. I will keep reading the series though and see what the next book will have in store for readers.

What a fun story… well minus the danger that they were in from almost the beginning of the story. 😉

Alyssa Day did a great job of creating a unique, yet familiar world that included warlocks, vampires, shifters and more. There was also a lot going on in Bane’s Choice that included a lot of players. At times I felt that there might have been a little too much going on, but not enough for the story to suffer or cause confusion.

Bane had never felt a connection to anyone as intense as his attraction to Ryan. She was a mystery he needed to solve and a complication that he and his family didn’t need.

Ryan believed in science and medicine, she didn’t believe in vampires, shifters or any other beings that went bump in the night. Needless to say, her entire world got turned upside down when she was faced with the realization that all those things and more truly did exist.

Plenty of action, humor, danger and romance to keep the pages turning and one of my favorite combinations. The supporting characters were great and I can’t wait to get to know them better. As for Ryan and Bane, I have a feeling that their story is far from over. I can’t wait for the Vampire Motorcycle Club to continue. 😉

I was excited to receive this first book in a new series by Alyssa Day and I was not disappointed with it. I was disappointed that the author didn't know what implosion (vs. explosion) meant, but it was one word in a good book filled with thousands of words. Also, there is so much wrong with the idea of the VMC - the Council of Clubs would never okay it, but it's a fantasy romance so it is easily forgivable.

The really good stuff includes a Harley riding vampire who owns a dog named Bram Stoker! During the course of a battle with a group of really nasty Necromancers, Dr. Ryan (a human, she thinks) gets drawn into the world of magic, something that challenges her level headed and scientific nature. She suddenly has to deal with vampires, witches, warlocks, necromancers and werewolves, and makes a discovery about her own nature all while falling in love with Bane.

DNF. Loved the concept but the characters failed to draw me in. There was no chemistry and the characters lacked motivation and personality

Actual rating: 3.5 stars
I have mixed feelings about this book. While overall I enjoyed it, it took a while to get into and I wasn't heavily invested in the main characters. Ryan was overly arrogant, as is the way with most doctors. She was adamant that only she could look after her patient even though he was a danger to her and she a danger to him. She wouldn't listen when she was told that things were different around vampires. It was as though only her way was right. I did admire her bravery when it came to the fighting scenes. she didn't care that she was heavily outmatched she was prepared to help her new friends even if it meant death.

Bane was heartless, he didn't care for the well-being of his group which in my opinion makes him a poor character. Yes he was willing to protect Ryan but throughout much of the book he wouldn't commit to not killing her. Not something I would tolerate in a partner. I'm sorry but if someone has mixed feelings about not killing you then you better run.

On to what i did like, the vampire motorcycle club was a fresh take both genres, I loved the combination. I would have preferred more involving the MC club angle but it was overshadowed by the paranormal. The background characters who I hope are main characters in their own books later in the series were far more interesting to me. I found them altogether more likable and I want to know more about them.

While the main characters were a miss for me, I know there are many paranormal fans who will love them. The series is promising and I hope it goes on to bigger and better stories. I will definitely be giving the next book a go.
I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I've wanted to dive back into paranormal vampire romance for quite some time now but can't seem to find the right book. Unfortunately this fell a bit flat for me. Certainly not bad, but nothing romance readers haven't seen before. I think Alyssa Day's writing just doesn't do it for me. The characters were one note and the romance had very little heat to it. I think the concept was interesting but the execution didn't work for me.

Bane is the leader of the Vampire Motorcycle Club. He's tough, unfeeling, and brutal - he's also a vampire. His club is a mix of those most loyal, human and vampire. When nasty and dangerous death magic infiltrates his territory in South Caroline, Bane and his crew bring forces together to combat the enemy. He wasn't counting on a mouthy doctor who is immune to the thralls he and his vamps toss her way.

Dr. Ryan St. Cloud refuses to believe in the odd occurrences one evening in the hospital where she works. Disappearing patients, beautiful men, and weird interactions are not all in a night's work and Ryan can't let the events go. Ryan suddenly finds herself immersed in a motorcycle club and surrounded by vampires. One of the many questions she has is whether or not she's going to get to leave, or, after falling for Bane, she's going to want to leave.

Bane's Choice is a dark and broody book. Bane and his vampire crew are lowkey, dangerous, and deadly. Ryan brings light, strength, and a bit of stubbornness to the vampires. Sparks fly between Ryan and Bane. Their chemistry jumps off the page even when both are trying to deny the attraction. When Ryan becomes a target, Bane becomes overprotective. Ryan isn't exactly helpless, however, but her revelations shock everyone.

The several side characters really strengthen the dynamics of the book. All of the characters are likable and I enjoyed their companionship. The story is long but paced well. I was hooked from the very beginning and the author wrote wonderful characters that kept me engaged. This is the first book I've had the chance to read by Alyssa Day and it won't be my last. She has mad writing skills and wrote a book I could sink my teeth into. Lovers of paranormal romance stories will become absorbed in this book.

I was provided a copy of this book.

If you love sexy vampire books, then you have to pick this one up. Plucky, female protagonist meets 300-year-old protective vampire; let the fireworks begin. I really liked this book and a lot of good set up for future books. There is a bit of a cheese factor, but it's also what I'm expecting when I read an urban fantasy book. Was a great book to read in October.

Title: “He kissed her, because she’d brought life, and love, and hope into his heart.”
“He kissed her, because he intended to spend eternity kissing her.” Now that ladies (and maybe gentlemen) is a love story! Fine looking Bane on its cover too. This was such a well-written paranormal romance that I had a hard time putting the book down. It is a must-read for lovers of PNR, steamy romance with demons, angels, warlocks, shifters and of course vampires. What choice will Bane need to make? Oh, there is humor too…
Vampire Bane is the leader of the Vampire Motorcycle Club, VMC, and as such is hiding in plain sight. He gives his human crew excuses why he can’t ride with them during the day which they accept. He’s not especially happy and hasn’t been for centuries until Dr. Ryan St. Cloud “glows” at him. Their first “meeting” is quite something. The story would be great if there wasn’t any more but there is another plot entwined within this romance, one that will carry over to the next book if the epilogue is to be believed. There will be a twist in the story that I didn’t see coming although I knew some explanation would surface. There is a stupendous cast of characters about whom I hope we get future stories as well as the secondary characters such as Mr. and Mrs. C.
I volunteered to review this book through Entangled/NetGalley and would give it more than 5 Stars if I could. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one, hopefully Meara and Edge’s story.

Hard-hearted, uncaring centuries-old vampire suffering from the ennui of his existence meets a small ball-busting doctor who takes none of his crap, plus fated mates, necromancers, and a motorcycle club? Hell yeah, sign me up!

Bane's Choice was a fun, fast-paced paranormal romance with wizards, necromancers, vampires, werewolves, and, oddly enough, motorcycle clubs. I know, you are wondering how that actually goes together, but it works. This was my first book with Alyssa Day and I am totally kicking myself. Where has she been all my life?

Bane has lived long enough into his vampire life that he has lost his humanity. Little matters to him but his motorcycle club and his (chosen) family. He had recently discovered some weird happenings and finds that necromancers are trying to move into his territory and take over. He's sooo not going to let that even be a thought let alone a reality. Then to top off his already bad day, Bane discovers that a human that once protected, unknowingly or not, his sister was in a horrible accident and is dying. When he shows up to grab said human and offer him a second life he is confronted by an enigma of a woman who throws off his enchantments and mind control and takes none of his crap (it was so great!). And, bam! all sorts of 'instincts' and 'mine's' and 'protects' happen. (::squee::)

If you've read any of my reviews you would know I am a huge sucker for grumpholes. I can't help it. Throughout the whole book, I couldn't help but imagine a Chis Hemsworth (Thor)/Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) amalgamation for Bane but well, grumpier. I couldn't think of a really perfect actor but you get the gist. He was grumpy but caring. He was all alpha you will do this or I will kill all the things but then he started caring and considering ideas of consent (a big thing of mine) and I just... sigh... love, love, love, love, love.

Ryan was super awesome in that she was a smart, capable, self-assured woman who didn't cower or whimper even in the face of vampires and werewolves or even necromancers. She may have displaced as little bull-headed full steam ahead naivete in regards to paranormal things and happenings when she clearly did not have the right or any of the necessary facts, but.. hey, none of us are perfect. Ryan was fun, strong, and had a great head on her shoulder and I just love reading those kinds of characters.

I was maybe a little disappointed that Bane went from basically an uncaring twat to that idea of a 'worthy male' aspect so quickly. I would have liked to see more feet-dragging instances. But, that's just me. Ryan's heritage was an intriguing plot point but I also wished that we had more explanation of her parent's happenings when she was growing up and maybe a bit more backstory on how she, erm... came to be.

There were a few instances where I felt the story was fast-forwarded through some things that really could have benefitted from being fleshed out a bit more. The dreams, Mr. C getting sick, the explosion aftermath, the whole Ramiel/Ryan encounters, the Ramiel/Ryan/Bane encounter.

I'm totally on the hook for what's going on with Meara and Edge and the whole Carter backstory. I am so down for more of the Vampire Motorcycle Club series.

I must admit that this was not a good book for me. It’s formulaic. Roguish male vampire with no empathy or care for members of his clan or motorcycle club. Rude and abrasive to everyone. No explanation as to why they follow him. His good human friend is dying and he decides to turn him but things don’t go as planned. The doctor who is treating said friend becomes his obsession. He’s an ogre to his people and amazingly they follow his lead. He kidnaps the doctor and is really a dick to her. She’s a dick back to him but basically gives up her life because he wants her to. She wants to study him but agrees to not publish anything. He’s a total merciless controller, she’s an abrasive doctor. I didn’t like either one of them and didn’t care what happened toe them. I read this until 80% but didn’t want to continue. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is an action packed paranormal romantic suspense and the exciting start to a new series - I can't wait to read the sequels!

When his human friend is seriously injured, Bane goes to fetch him from the hospital. He never expected any problems as humans always can be coerced into doing as he wants, can't they? So how come the feisty doctor treating him is so argumentative, unaffected by his compulsion - and so attractive to him? Dr. Ryan St. Cloud is someone he can't forget, especially as she keeps arguing with him - no one normally dares do that!

Get ready for sparks to fly, blood to be spilt, dark magic, strange alliances and shocking revelations in this fast paced intriguing story! There are a range of fascinating characters, more than one potential romance and potential danger lurks everywhere! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and look forward to reading more in this series in future.

Thanks to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I voluntarily read and have honestly reviewed.

Not sure I connected with this one very well. I went into it thinking I'd be getting a vampire romance but it turned into an odd Nephilim romance story as well. Which I'm not a big fan of. Ryan was likeable...but Bane just wasn't my cup of tea. Some of it was a little cheesy as well. Thank you to the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy.

Alyssa Day has created an intriguing new world, blending vampires (and werewolves) and motorcycle clubs, putting new twists on paranormal lore, and creating a cast of characters that are colorful and funny and are so much more than they seem on the surface.

Bane is your typical alpha dominant vampire. He’s also old and a bit broody. He hasn’t had fun in centuries, but when he runs into Dr. Ryan St. Cloud, someone he can’t compel, she does the one thing he never thought could happen – she gives him back hope. These two were a lot of fun, Ryan had some very funny lines that had me laughing out loud and it was great watching her stand up to Bane and demand more from him. Bane was so out of his element with Ryan, she was not your typical heroine, and he had such a hard time understanding little things – like why locking her in a room for her own protection might get her just a little bit angry!

There was a lot going on in this book. As the first book in a new series there were a lot of characters and world-building that needed to happen which caused this to be a bit of a slower read since I needed to keep track of the characters and backstory. There were some good action scenes that helped move things along and the groundwork was laid for many other story lines in this series.

Overall, this was a dark paranormal story that had some real laugh out loud moments with action and a bit of mystery that kept me engaged throughout. There wasn’t much of a focus on the MC aspect of the book, but I really enjoyed the different types of characters and the lore around vampires, werewolves, witches, etc. that Alyssa Day has included as part of her world.

This was my first book with these characters but their back story is entwined well into this story. Bane is the leader of a Vampire Motorcycle club in the area of Savannah. This is his territory and no Warlocks are going to take it away. The Warlocks are lead by a necromancer Constantin part of a group called The Chamber. Bane is used to being a Vampire leader with the strongest magic for over 300 years. He has so much more trouble coping with a feisty Doctor Ryan St Cloud. There is much humour with our two main characters getting used to each other’s quirks and becoming partners amongst having to deal with a new war. They will certainly need to lean on each other’s strengths to survive. The characters of Bane and his family make this book easy to get absorbed with. You will be engaged to the very end.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
