I was hoping to enjoy a quick holiday read. Unfortunately, I encountered multiple instances of fatphobia in the first 10%, so I had to stop reading.

King of bland, a bit cliche but pretty much what you'd expect of a holiday romance novel. I like my stories with a bit of angst, and this one had none. But not bad by any means, just not something I'll remember or re-read.

I do find myself drawn to stories that have dogs and kids in them so Home was always going to be a definite read for me. Great likeable characters that had me rooting for them from the start. The storyline was action packed with the romance, a search party and mystery of finding the cute dog that was around town. I found it being a quick read because of how much was going on. It wasn't Bryant's best work but enjoyable.

Home is a f/f romance between Natalie, the town's sheriff, and Sarah, a single mom who came back to her hometown after a divorce. Natalie has never forgotten Sarah after their only kiss when they were in high school. However, Sarah pretended not to remember that kiss afterward and that was the end of it. Until they saw each other again as adults, fully knowing what and who they liked.

Home was a pretty quick sweet read. It was a simple story, entertaining enough and there was some steam (even though I didn't feel the chemistry). Unfortunately, I never really connected with this romance like I hoped I would but I believe it was a 'me' problem and not a book problem.

Natalie and Sarah’s story was fast paced. These characters had a history so their relationship didn’t need as much development. I’ve read this author before and her books keep are always entertaining. Home was no exception. I like the small town setting. Ghost Dog/Buddy/Ford/Henry was a great character. I always love a good dog getting into the mix and bringing people together. My only complaint about the book is on a personal level. The fact that Sarah finds a job ad for a librarian that indicates that there is no experience needed was one thing,  Then during the interview she is told by the head librarian that she can read as much as she likes as long as her work gets done. Then Sarah’s mom says something like oh you’ll be able to organize books or whatever. I mean come, I’m a librarian! You need a master’s degree to be a librarian. This description is the most common description of a “librarian” there is and it takes no time to ask google: “What’s it take to be a librarian.” Please stop using librarians in this way. I worked my butt off getting my degree and we don’t just need to know the alphabet and get to read all day. Sorry I got on my soap box….

When I saw the blurb for Home, I thought I would immediately fall in love with the book. Second chance romance and a stray dog! And an adorable kid! Unfortunately, none of what I had hoped for was actually there.

I mean, yeah, the two women shared a kiss when they were seventeen but they had no relationship or history together beyond that kiss. Yet they each never forgot it and one of them measured each first kiss since by that standard and thought about the other for that long? I wanted to buy it but couldn't.

The sweet dog story arc was nice until, for me, it went too far.

I think I expected too much and set myself up for disappointment. I will say that the tension-building part that was used to solidify the family was different and interesting. But beyond that, I was mostly left wanting more.

This is another wonderful, great and lovely romance from Kris Bryant. If you know her books, you will love this. And if this is your frist book written by this specific author, you will love it too. 

I really liked the beginning with the dog and the story itself just drew me in from the first page. I loves the main characters, their back history and how they meet each other after all those years. Really, I have to think hard to find something in this book I didn't really like ... 

Yet I only can come up with the rescue at the end of the book ... somehow this was the only part where I was lost a bit ... Don't know why. Maybe I would have loved more time to really feel the MCs, especially Sarah here ... but then, I was happy again.

A solid 3.5 stars. While I liked the characters in this book, the book didn't quite gel for me. Their shared history was never really elaborated on, was it just one kiss once? And then the current story of the dog was a bit silly for me.

Okay, I have now read that others thought this was like a Hallmark movie, and I'll give you that. If that is what you are looking for, this delivers.

I wanted to love this book so much I really really did. I love indie lesbian reads and this one sounded right up my ally especially with the golden retriever on the cover but sadly it fell flat for me.
  I liked the characters okay but they just felt a little flat for me. The only character I really loved was the daughter. I loved her personality and how adorable she was. I just wished all the other characters had as much personality as her.
  I also felt like the romance happened way to fast. I get they knew each other before and lesbians are sort of known for moving quickly but it just felt rushed. That was how I felt over all that it was rushed. I wish Bryant had maybe drawn the book out a bit longer to make things flow just a bit better. 
  Like I said over all this was a decent indie lesbian romance it is by no means the worst but its not my favorite either. I would read some other books by the author and I deffinatly want a physical copy of this one I just didn't think it was the best or really stood out like it could have.

A vert sweet small town romance with a little bit of angst thrown in and great character development. The characters are likable in the kind of second chance romance as they navigate some misunderstandings and drama in their lives to see where things lead :)

Hallmark movie sweet and cute; especially Ghost dog and Harley. High school "couple" go in different directions after graduation and meet up again after seventeen years. Sarah Eastman returns to Spruce Mountain, Oregon with her daughter Harley to live with her aunt and uncle after her divorce. Sarah is ready to reset her life and not looking for her next relationship. Sheriff Natalie Strand is one of the most likable butch characters I have read in lesbian fiction. She presents such a caring and personable personality. When the two meet again, they both realize the spark is still there. As the story unfolds, the supporting characters provide insight and perspective that help and hinder story advancement. Just a nice romance with some angst.

This is a romance set in a small town in Oregon.  The main characters are the local sheriff Natalie Strand and Sarah Eastman who has returned home with her young daughter, Harley.  

Natalie and Sarah went to school together but were never in the same social group.  One night, however, they exchanged a kiss that changed their lives.  Unfortunately, they were not destined to be together and each woman goes her separate way.  Natalie remains in Spruce Mountain, Oregon, and becomes the sheriff.  Years later after Sarah is divorced from her wife, she returns to Spruce Mountain to rebuild her life and establish some permanency for her daughter.  Her aunt and uncle offer their home to Sarah and Harley.  

The storyline is pleasant although rather predictable.  The only complaint I had is that the story seemed to be rushed at the end.  Ms. Bryant used an epilogue to explain the background of the story from the dog’s point of view.  This addition just seemed unnecessary.

If you are looking for a delightful romance, I suggest Home and rate this book with 4 out of 5 stars.

Tried reading this book.  But not interested in a romance between 2 of the same sex in a book.  Hopefully someone will enjoy it

I loved this story! I love almost everything from this author but this story was especially heartwarming and cute! Two lovable MCs, a cute daughter, a cute dog, what do you want more :-) I always enjoy a story where the characters get a second chance! So would totally recommend!

This was a quick, feel good read with LGBT characters. Both characters were already out and any discrimination was in the past. Focus was on a storyline that included a dog, who in my opinion was the main character of the book. Fairly fluffy, but read it at a time I needed something lighter.

Sheriff Natalie Strand has never forgotten the kiss she and the popular girl at school, Sarah Eastman shared many years ago. Now Sarah has returned home, divorced and with a daughter but their attraction to each other still hasn't waned.
Kris Bryant always delivers great stories although this story is not one of my favourites,  it was still enjoyable.  This book falls somewhere in between a short story and a long story.  It allows you to get to know and love the characters but it doesn't wane. I loved the character of Natalie and Ghost Dog aka Henry plays a big part, clearly Kris Bryant is a big dog lover with Henry's own little story at the end. A good read. 3.5 stars

In this crazy world we find ourselves in, this was a welcome comforter. A feel good story with happy people, happy times in a happy place, and a ghost dog who comes into his own.  The story is well-written, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable.   I found the added commentary narrative during sex scenes superfluous, but that is my only gripe.  More angst could have been made of Francine's reappearance but then it's not an angsty read and I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't. It was a welcome distraction from the madness of 2020.

Ghost dog has his own storyline and I enjoyed reading this. It answered lots of Qs and was a credible part of the storyline. Lots more feel-goodness with his own story. 4*

Ah, what a story. The story of Natalie and Sarah, not to mention Harley, and the coolest dog ever.

Natalie is the Sheriff in her hometown. When she was in high school one of her classmates, Sarah, kissed her at a party and then just left town. Well, Sarah is back and she and Natalie run into each other again and sudenly those old feelings resurface.

They've both changed. Sarah has a (cute) kid, Harley. And Natalie is trying to find a ghost dog that she just can't seem to keep hold of for more than twenty seconds of sseing him. They get closer (because of the dog and the kid) and I have to say that while there is some relationship drama, it seemed like significantly less than in most lesfic romances. It was delightful.

It was such a fun read. A relaxing read, and then the end. I mean, there was the end of Natalie and Sarah (and Harley's) story, but, then there... was more, and it was perfect. And I may or may not have added a half a star just for that extra ending. It was perfect.

Mmm... I did have one small problem with it though. When Mary tells Sarah during her library interview that, as a librarian she can read all she wants as long as it doesn't get in the way of her work. No. Yeah... no. Think of it this way. Teachers get so many kudos for 'grading papers at home'. Reading actual books, books that librarians need to read to keep up with the profession, do book groups, be able to do Reader's Advisory, etc. That's the equivalent. Not a close equivalent, but, the exact equivalent. We read at home because when we are at the library there is either a patron in front of us who needs us, (or two, or four, or six), or we are setting up a program, planning a program, fixing something that's gone wrong with the tech (or the programs), dealing with patrons who aren't in front of us, dealing with politicians who believe that all we do is read all day (so why do we need money then). Etc. Etc.

Once I got through that little hiccup in the book though, it was a fun read.

Kris Bryant never disappoints.  This was an easy light read without a ton of unnecessary drama.  This would be a great book to curl up on read and in front on the fire on a cool fall evening!  Thanks Kris for another awesome read!
