A book with zombies and a lesbian romance. This one had my name all over it and I thoroughly enjoyed this read. it's amusing, the Zombie situation is used to expedite some feelings and personal growth all the while also giving us some tense moments and action. The way this writer wrote the story around the zombies occuring and the situation at the end makes sense and it gives us a finished book with everything tied up. I do wonder what happens for Lane en Meg afterwards, outside of the pressure pot situation and if they will make it in the long run. I felt the romance in the time span of the book, but what happens when adrenaline fades and the mundane takes over again? Yet, great read if you like zombies and a bit of romance between women, I would recommend it.

Z-Town is a rollercoaster ride of a horror story about two brave, capable women fighting against Viking zombies in the lovely, quaint Cape Cod village of Provincetown. Be still my heart! This book draws a reader in from the first page, perfectly setting up the mayhem that follows. I loved the character, Lane. Lane Boyd is the best kind of reluctant hero, sweet, kind, and totally unsure in her ability to rid the world of zombies. But she knows she can't let a horde of zombies stop her in her attempt to win back Meg Daltry, the woman who abruptly left her back in England. The dire circumstances allow Meg to see Lane in a new way. Lane is no longer an unmotivated trust-fund gal but a woman that is brave, protective, and willing to fight for what she wants. I also enjoyed the insightful backstories of each character. I loved the humor Delores brought to the story, and I thought young Lois was a treat to read. This compelling story flows with an intensity that is edgy and fun, definitely a book to add to your library if you like zombies, Vikings, P-Town, or a reluctant kickass hero.

Fun, fast read for scifi lovers.

Lane is a well to do Londoner. She wants for nothing thanks to her parent's money. Except she does want for one thing her parents can't provide - Meg's love.

Meg is a hard working American, struggling to save every penny to open her dream bar.

Meg breaks Lane's heart by breaking up their casual fling - they have too many differences for anything long term. Meg goes home to the States.

Lane follows Meg to Provincetoen to win Meg back and then all hell breaks loose. - full on zombie apocalypse.

Will they survive, will they lose preconceived notions about each other, will they save the world?

So many things ticked on my want list for a lesbian zombie slasher. The book cover is spectacular as is the title, a clever play of words combining zombies and the quintessential Provincetown, MA locale. It’s also a second chance at love for Meg and Lane which I think fits best into this kind of story. You want to keep the action moving without having the characters get to know each other. A few well-placed short flashbacks flesh out their past nicely. Meg and Lane clash sportingly throughout the story that had me laughing at their sarcasm or wincing at their barbs. Either way, their dialogue sparkles as does their rekindling of their affair ,,, amidst a zombie apocalypse. It’s scary good fun and loved every minute of it.

Read this book for what it is, pure escapism, and you're bound to love it.

This is the third book I've read by Eden Darry, and although it wasn't my favourite. I loved it for what it was. As a fan of 'The Walking Dead' and 'Vikings,' I love the combination here.

The only reason I didn't rate this higher is the lack of urgency in the first 60-70% of the book, but at the same time, I was glad it wasn't unnecessarily gory or graphic. Talk about a contradiction.

The last 30% of the book is what made me up my rating from 'an okay' 3-stars to an 'I really liked it' 4-star rating.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me a free E-ARC of this text in exchange for an honest review.

While this text offered real promise, I found it a difficult read due to the writing style and, as a result, I was unable to finish.

The writing is clunky, particularly in chapter two where almost every sentence uses the character's name as opposed to ever using a pronoun. This, combined with small details which made research seem non-existent - for example, a British character is horrified at how fast a car is driven, despite specifically saying they went 40mph is incredibly unbelievable - made for a difficult read.

While the plot has potential, both female leads are incredibly unlikeable with no redeeming features and their willingness to leave a woman with a literally festering wound with her child was unfathomable. Between this and the overly detailed sex scene which seemingly comes from nowhere, made the characters seem two-dimensional, with their only real story being each other. Unfortunately, this will not be going down as a zombie classic, despite the original and intriguing premise.

Meg and Lane had a casual whirlwind romance when Meg spent time in England, but when she leaves to go Stateside once again their relationship fell apart. Lane can't get Meg out of her mind or her heart and she heads to Provincetown to win her back. The two women are thrown back together amid zombies and fighting for their lives. Can the adventure of a lifetime show them what really matters?

I love zombies and this book did not disappoint plus I liked the little twist on these zombies with some ancient Vikings and their treasure. This book takes place over a very short period of time and a lot happens but the pacing was really well done. There's still plenty of time for us to get to know the characters and for them to reconnect, which was nice since the characters had been together before the book but there was still a lot of opportunity for the readers to get engaged in their story and their relationship. This book was so much fun and had you on the edge of your seat. Eden Darry writes wonderful and engaging stories that set themselves apart!

Okay--just to put it out there--the world needs zombie lesbian romance books set in New England. This one fits the bill. Meg and Lane are clearly made for each other, and when they unite to set their world to rights, I crushed on them both so hard.

The zombie apocalypse make sense in the context of the story (though it's certainly not "realistic"). The gore level is pretty high, but it's zombies. The sex isn't steamy enough, imo.

The story zips along, and it's fun, but the writing is often pretty clunky. I'm glad I read it, but I'm not necessarily going to see out the author in the future.

This book was such a fun read. I love zombie books but this is one zombie read that isnt like the other books ive read in the zombie category. Especially having the main characters be women and queer. It was definitely nice not having the typical hero/leader be a man in the zombie setting. Plus mixing zombies with one of my favorite tropes (ancient treasure being buried up and being cursed) was such a fun thing to see.

This book is written with two different characters, one being Lane, a rich girl who comes from money and doesn't have to work a day in her life. And then there is Meg, grew up poor, working her butt off to one day own a bar of her own. They dated for a while only for Meg to break things off Seeing as Lane came from money and didnt take things seriously or even do some chores. But Lane is flying back to win Meg over when all hell breaks loose. Ancient Viking treasure was found and people start acting strangely. Biting people and getting sick and turning into zombies. Lane and Meg are trying to survive while trying to figure out how to stop a huge Viking zombie that is terrorizing the town with his zombie minions.

I dont want to spoil it, but it was such a fun quick read. I'm a sucker for zombie books and this was something new and not so repetitive like the other zombie books ive read. There are more characters, more trying to figure out the truth and I highly recommend it.

Z-Town by Eden Darry is a zombie story about Lane whose come to the US to confess her love to Meg but while she’s there, a Viking treasure is unearthed and causes an uprising of zombies. It’s an entertaining book but not particularly very deep—it reminded me of an episode of Supernatural. I do think we need more queer zombie books so I appreciate this book for adding more to the genre. Overall, I’d suggest this book if you want a quick zombie-filled read.

Okay, so hear me out, I am giving this a five star rating because it is really good at what it does. This is a zombie horror novel, with some light bits of humor and action. I'd say this is like Shaun of the Dead crossed with The Mummy (1999) more than The Walking Dead. It is a little less tongue and cheek than Shaun but the supernatural elements of the zombies is very much like The Mummy.

I haven't been to Provincetown, Massachusetts, but I know its reputation, so having a zombie outbreak in P-Town is kind of hilarious on its face. That the zombies are based on an old Norse Myth that comes to life after they uncover buried treasure is just the topping on the cake. I'd say that yes, the characters are a bit archetypal with Lane being the rich playgirl with the heart of gold, and Meg being the more down to earth too serious woman. Though they have a past, they still have to relearn each other while trying to survive a supernatural zombie apocalypses. The other characters are just quirky enough to make an impact but aren't too traumatic when they die. And loads of people die. There's not too many gory deaths; most die either off page, or too far away from the point of view person.

This is a blazing fast, fun romp, with a hint of romance, and some low key great jokes. It leaned very far into the horror/comedy/action and succeeds at it. Heck it even had a big dumb showdown near the end of the novel that I had to laugh at. Normally I am annoyed by scenes like that, but this one fit so well with the tone of the book, I loved it very much.

If you are looking for a fast paced, silly, and slightly scary summer read, this is for you. I knew I was going to get a zombie book, but was not expecting to have so much fun with it.

Wow. Just wow. This book was SHOCKINGLY good! The grotesque detail was horrible and awesome at the same time. I have never read a book like this. The romance was good and I liked the emotional progression of the main characters. I really enjoyed the historical links. Now we just need a post apocalyptic sequel to follow! I definitely recommend. This is a fun and fast paced story. Things move quickly as everyone tries to survive. It's a great book to just get lost on with it's unique take on Zombies. It shows how easy it is to misjudge people and how a crisis shows you their true colors.

3.25 Stars. This was interesting. I’m a huge zombie fan. If it has zombies in it I will read it or watch it so I was happy to pick this as my first ARC to read from Bold Strokes Books new batch. I am wondering if my expectations might have been a bit too high. After reading my favorite zombie book ever written, Charon Docks at Daylight, it’s hard to compare anything else to that book. To me Z-Town felt closer to a Shaun of the Dead type story, except for that this book isn’t a comedy.

I do have to say that I thought the title was cute and I liked the premise of zombies in Provincetown. A group of lesbians fighting to save P-Town sounds good to me. I was also happy with how Darry chose to explain the zombies. It is out there yes, but zombies are out there anyway. It wasn’t just a virus, which none of us need to read about right now, but instead it had a neat little history and was just more inventive.

This book is just pure entertainment. If you go into it looking for anything more you might be disappointed. It’s the kind of book you need to just go with the flow and definitely not take things too seriously. This was a fast read that kept me entertained while I’m stuck home on a Saturday night due to covid still ravishing the USA.

While this book is all about zombies, there is a romance. It is actually a second chance romance which I think was a smart choice by Darry. Through a few flashbacks (that surprisingly I didn’t mind) we get insight into what worked and what didn’t for the main characters as a couple. The reason this was so smart was because with all the danger and just trying to stay alive, had these two just met the romance would’ve had to be insta-love to work in this condensed time period. Writing the characters to have a history ahead of time made this potential couple way more believable. While the overall romance was only okay for my personal tastes, I think Darry really tried to make it work.

This was only an average zombie book for me. As I mentioned before I loved the location and the twist on a normal zombie, but I didn’t find the book to be as griping as I hoped. The book was very readable and entertaining, plus with October around the corner this book’s theme is perfectly timed. If you are looking for some zombie entertainment, and just want some fun, this book may be for you.

I have always enjoyed reading zombie and lesfic books. I was thrilled to find zombies and lesbians in one book! The book's main characters, Meg and Lane, are from two different countries. Meg, from the US visiting England to get ideas of pubs before she opens her own. Lane, lives in England and meets Meg at a pub. They both hit if off and began spending time together. Meg has had to work for everything she has and Lane has a trust fund. Lane wants to make things easier for Meg but she does not appreciate Lane's assistance. Because of this, Meg decides to break ties with her. Lane pretends that she is not devastated. The more she thinks about it, the more she realizes that she has real feelings for her. Lane flies to Provincetown, where Meg lives, to tell her of her feelings and win her back. Things in Ptown are getting strange. A very old Viking treasure has been accidentally dug up. This creates havoc and people are starting to get sick and bite people. Lane does find Meg in the midst of a zombie outbreak.
I would recommend!
