I enjoyed this book, but for some reason it just didnt gel for me. I'm not sure why. Possibly because I didnt really take to any of the characters.

But I am definitely in the minority and I have LOVED the authors previous books.

Nicole Trope will always keep you guessing. This is the second book I've read by her and now I really have to read all of her books. She writes compelling and empathetic characters and definitely keeps the reader intrigued with questions until the end.

After Zoe, a 16 year old, is found dead at a school camp in the Blue Mountains of NSW, all of the people in her life try to deal with the loss, the unanswered questions, and their own secrets surrounding her death. Make sure to clear some time in your schedule when you start this. I had to read it all at once.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this advanced copy.

Breathtaking, Your worst nightmare come to life and I could not put it down. This book takes you through a twisty turny forest of dark deceptions and realities in the life several teenage girls. Best friends on the surface ... but still waters run deep. Told from several view points which richly woven this tale and made you feel compassion for all the character involved. The story was full of suspense and begged to be read in one sitting. You can not put this down down until you read the final chapter to learn... what happened that fateful night Zoe died?

Sixteen year old Zoe is on a school camping trip when she turns up missing, and later dead. Zoe is a deeply flawed human being, and we follow several narrators in retelling their interactions with and the events leading up to her death. It is a suspense type of book as we don't learn towards the end who is responsible for her death, but it is an incredibly nuanced and emotional journal. I found the ending to be satisfying, yet thought provoking and I felt deeply for all involved in the story. Great story!

I wasn’t sure what to spect from this book but the characters broke my heart a little more with every chapter. The premise seemed simple Lydia loses her 16 year old Daughter Zoe dies whilst at a school camp. The book doesn’t just look at the devastation of Zoe’s family but others also affected by the tragedy.
Zoe’s death is the stone dropped into a pond and the ripples are all the people affected.
The book is written in the POV of several people including Zoe’s best friend and a school teacher supervising the school camp.
The author gets teenage girls perfectly as well the pressures modern day teenagers have from the world of social media. I liked the journey the author takes us on as the characters move through the emotional impact of Zoe’s death.
I will be looking for the authors other books. This was a heart wrenching read bu5 I highly recommend it.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept my interest from page one to the very end. Very suspenseful and I was not able to figure out who the bad guy which is always a plus when reading this genre.

Told from the perspective of different people involved in this tragedy - her mother, sister, friends, teachers - it has a very gripping plot. You want to read it through to find out how Zoe died. Did someone kill her? If so, what was their motive? Zoe was a teenager acting out, a bully, and yet also a very loved young woman.

This is such a heartbreaking book and even more so because it centres around a very relevant issue that young people face - online harassment and threats.

The book kept me completely intrigued and since the subject of troubled young people is close to my heart, I could totally relate to the story.

The Girl Who Never Came Home, by Nicole Trope, will shock you to your very core! 5+ stars! Another stunning MUST READ from the mastermind of women’s fiction, thrilling psychological suspense, and family drama! It is an emotionally charged, thrilling, and suspenseful rollercoaster read that is impossible to put down! Nicole Trope gives new meaning to the phrase “dark and twisty!” It is an unforgettable mind-blowing experience! Keep the tissues nearby, but every year shed will be well worth it!

The Girl Who Never Came Home proves that Nicole Trope’s literary talents are parallel with those of Jodi Picoult, Liane Moriarty, Gillian Flynn, and Lisa Jewell! It’s a wickedly wonderful read, and epic storytelling at its best! The Girl Who Never Came Home is a twisted and beautifully written masterpiece about the strength of a mother’s love, and the power within pressure, torment, and angst. It will fill you with a ferocious and intense need to hug your loved ones and never let go! Nicole Trope has reached new heights of brilliantly portraying the depth of emotions and the limits of moral boundaries. The Girl Who Never Came Home is a testament to how the ties that bind can also threaten to shatter and destroy lives. This literary gem is a moral wake-up call about standing out while still trying to fit in. It is a spellbinding account of the emotional upheaval that comes as a result of the truth being altered by love and hate. When secrets hidden within blurred realities are exposed, no one escapes unscathed.

Lydia has already survived a tragedy when her husband, Eli, the father of her daughter Jessie and Zoe died at a young age. It was only fair to assume that the most painful and worst moment of her life were behind her. Her oldest daughter, Jessie, is working hard and finding success at med school. Zoe, her youngest daughter, has always been a bit spoiled, dramatic, and emotional. Lydia and her daughters stepfather, Gabriel, agree that 16 year old Zoe needs more structure and limitations. After a heated argument, Lydia feels somewhat relieved when she drops Zoe off to attend a three day school sponsored camping trip. Relief soon turns to regret when she receives a phone call and learns that her daughter disappeared in the middle of the night and is missing. When Zoe is found dead and the police struggle to come up with answers, those who knew her feel the burden of blame for reasons they’re desperate to keep hidden.

Told from the perspectives of Zoe’s mom, sister, peers, teachers, and community members, it becomes clear that Zoe’s death wasn’t an accident.

Zoe didn’t deserve to die, but everyone had reasons to despise her. She was a bully, and her vindictiveness and cruelty had no limits. Being honest about what happened that night isn’t easy though when everyone is harboring secrets.

Thank you Nicole Trope, Bookouture, and Netgalley for allowing me the privilege of reading The Girl Who Never Came Home. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion.

The Girl Who Never Came Home by Nicole Trope tells a story of a mother's love and the heart-wrenching story of when a child goes missing. There were many twists and turns, which made for an incredible and page-turning story.

The characters were unique, and the scenes were described well and had me right in the middle of the story with the characters.

The author wrote with sensitivity, and I would like to read more from this author.

This book took me through so many twists and turns- an excellent read.

Zoe is 16 years old and on a school camping trip when she goes missing. It affects so many lives, her mother, sister, friends and teachers all tell their accounts.

Zoe was a complex character, stretching the boundaries and making some people miserable by her constant bullying. The police have to unravel the truth and secrets to find out what happened to Zoe.

Zoe is on a camping trip with her class, she's the average teenager who is popular. She's mean, down right nasty, she hides her brain and she's pretty. In the cabin she has her two best friends and a girl who she is really mean to, but not everything is as it seems. Zoe and her best friends get into an arguemet that fateful night and Zoe leaves the cabin. In the morning she still has not returned and they start a search party, and in that search party they find her dead. Now, the police are trying to figure out what happened and as it happens everyone has secrets including Zoe. As events unravel not everyone is as they seem and some secrets are to die for. A secret guy, a secret relationship for her sister, the elderly teacher who decides that it's not her problem, the friend who wants Zoe to understand what she does to people, a person who wants to hurt Zoe as much as she has hurt others and the other friend who really doesn't care anymore and the mother who thought she knew her daughters later finding out there are so many secrets that she didn't know. As the investigation continues to unravel and the secrets come out, the tensions rise between everyone and the death of Zoe affects more people than originally thought.
A great gripping story that had me on the edge racking my brain trying to figure out who I thought was guilty, and in the end I never would have guessed the twist. I guess looks are deceiving but definitely a great read!

Zoe is 16 and is on a school camping trip! Her mother gets a phone call no mother ever wants to get, Your Daughter is Missing! OMG! Not my daughter, surely they have it wrong, did they check all the cabins and tents? Look in the bathrooms? I’ll be right there! Get dressed, tell her sister, call her step-father.

They have started search parties! Where is she? They find her dead on the beach. They believe she fell off the cliff in the dark and hit her head. No, something is not right about this whole scenario!
The mother is adamant she wants it investigated because something is terribly wrong. I know my daughter is not an angel, but she did not deserve to die!

The author has done a wonderful job in keeping the readers intrigued with the twists and turns, but the flow of the book at times seemed to be choppy and could have been more cohesive. I think it was dragged out that it waned my interest at times and then it would pick up again.

Overall it’s a good book and I would recommend this book.

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

Nicole Trope is a brilliant author. This book was emotional, suspenseful, UNPUTDOWNABLE. The beginning was so powerful that I had to take a few breaths to calm my heart down.

What happened to Zoé? At 8:30am, Zoe was lost from school camp. 23 hours later she was dead. Her mother needed answers.

A mother’s love – strong and powerful – the author could capture this with a few strokes of her pen, making this book a heart wrenching tale. Suspense was weaved in, curiousity popped up when different characters close to Zoé spoke about their relationship with her.

Capturing a character in all angles within the pages of the book, bringing out the good and bad, was often insurmountable, but the author made it so easy. The scenes gelled in smoothly, revealing the various snapshots of Zoé’s life seamlessly. Only by seeing a person through everyone’s eyes, I got the idea of who Zoe was. We are human, a mix of good and bad and filled with emotions.

This was a book read at one go. How could I stop myself? Like the mother Lydia, I needed to know what happened to Zoé. I had to take a few minutes hugging myself before I could write this review.

The author’s command over words, her sensitivity to nuances, her characterization left me awed. And the emotions… Oh the feelings, they left me overwhelmed. My heart just overfloweth. One of the most fantastic reads of 2020.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book when I started the first chapter but oh my! it's just like Wow! So powerful and sad! I have never read a story quite like this one.
This is a new to me author and I am truly blown away by how realistic this book is.
Lots of twists and turns that I never saw coming along with the many emotional turns as well. .
Lydia could be telling my story or any of our stories really.
I'm a teen mom and I hate letting my son out of my sight for this very reason! I know I need to someday but it will be hard to.
The people that ask me why I never let my son do hardly anything should read this book. It's so very emotional that I had to have a box of tissues by my side.
I stayed up until 5 am so that I could finish this book. I just had to finish Lydia's story.

WoW! Is all I can say.
This book was so much more then just a book!
This one grabbed my attention and keep me reading till the last page.
And I think the reason why was because of how real this book was!

I could not imagine what Lydia was going through? Its every mother's worst nightmare.
This book was heartbreaking, beautiful, shocking.
This was an emotional book to read that's for sure.
But it was real, raw, emotional.

Thank You NetGalley publishers and author for this ebook copy!

This is a heart-wrenching story about a girl who disappears from a high school class camp out, with lots of twists. Zoe is known to be a very nice 16 year old girl, as well as a bully. The book explores the aftermath of her death, as experienced by her mother, sister and step-father, as well as her friends and teachers. Was her death deliberate or an accident? This is an excellent book that is definitely worth spending the time to read. I recommend it to everyone who likes a good mystery that is very realistic.I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Bookouture. All opinions expressed are my own.
