I went into this read not knowing it was part of a series but that didn't hinder my experience at all. I'd requested this on NetGalley because I'd seen other book reviewers getting excited for its release and boy was that a good move to make.

You can tell upon reading this book that there has been a lot of planning and preparation by Cara Hunter to make it into the story it is. I was hooked throughout the entirety of the story and it was one of those reads where anyone who distracted me was met with my extreme annoyance.

I massively recommend this read and I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the fifth title in the DI Adam Fawley books and they have me hooked.

There is lots of characters in this book as usual, and it gives a character list at the beginning so you can always reference back to that if you get lost in these characters.

Its starts with the situation between a student and his professor and this is an interesting dynamic to read about. Its extremely thought provoking and makes for a good read.
The second situation (without giving anything away) includes DI Fawley, an old arrest and his wife which is a really good twist. You do not see it coming.

I especially love the style of the different texts in Cara Hunter's books - the text messages, scripts of police interviews, audio radio scripts.

I am looking forward to the next DI Fawley and his team books.

This was one of those books I really was look forward too, I have read Cara Hunters books before and enjoyed them. However this one for some strange reason I couldn’t get to grips with at all I really really struggled. It in some way was over detailed is the only way I can describe it. Not just the story of the allegations but then there was the rapes of prostitutes. Also the way kg was laid out the crime. On Instagram or Twitter reading bits of there and any other public forum it was being talked about. It all felt disjointed and Alas as much as I really wanted to know if the students was lying or was it the lectures mistake. I just couldn’t finish the noon which I did rind strangely hard to follow on many places. It’s a very rare thing fir me not being able to actually finish the book. I do know me sooner or later can keep. Things together long enough. Then eventually I know I will eventually read thee whole book. How long who knows. The way I feel right now it fils me with dread having to read anymore. Please please try to keep a open mind. This is my perception of the book only many others have given good reviews. Oh I didn’t like the synthesiser in the voice with. Sorry I couldn’t not finish it. When I do eventually finish it I will update my review either for the better or worse again

I love reading Cara Hunter books and love the DI Fawley series and was very pleased to get a copy to read and review as I have been waiting for the next installment.

Another brilliant visit to DI Fawley and his team, I was hooked within a few pages and could not put it down. I picked up this book after a bit of a reading slump and it was the perfect read to reignite my passion for reading. I quickly became friends with the characters and loved the twists and turns that I have come to expect when reading these books.

A story with great characters entwined throughout, where you can't believe where the plot takes you and leaves you thinking there must he a twist but what is it and how.

A brilliant build up of suspense and intrigue as the plot progresses that leaves you desperate to keep reading and left me unable to put the book down. In the end I just had to keep reading and finished it in the early hours of the morning.

I struggled to get into this at first (which is unusual for me for a Cara Hunter book) the case was interesting, but didn't initially hook me.
The second half of the book though was wow! Loved it and couldn't put it down.
Plenty of twists and turns and red herrings to keep me on the edge of my seat and I wouldn't have guessed the ending.
Overall a great read.

DI Adam Fawley is back, I have loved this series right from book one and this one doesn’t disappoint, in fact I think these books just get better and better.

This time there are two cases, The Roadside Rapist from 1998 Gavin Parrie is out of prison and is looking for revenge. Against DI Fawley who was only a DS back then (18 years earlier), but he was instrumental in Parrie’s conviction. Adam’s wife Alex had been a victim of Parrie’s. She is heavily pregnant with their second child, having lost the first one through tragic circumstances, Alex is obviously nervous she is 44 years old and is terrified not just because she is older and has already lost a baby but also with Parrie on the loose she is convinced he will come for that revenge as his conviction wasn’t as straightforward as it seems.

The other case is that of a sexual abuse complaint, but the victim is a strapping young man who is accusing an older professor. Fawley’ s team are given the case mainly because the victims mum is a VIP, but the case proves to be anything but simple. Each character is not very reliable as a narrator, including the professors 7 year old son, is he telling the truth or not?

When Parrie is out of prison he doesn’t strike his revenge In the way he was expected to do, but pulls the rug right from under Fawley’s feet can the thing is can Fawley find a way out of the bind he now finds himself in?

The beginning half of the book is setting everything up, but then the second half is unputdownable, with another fantastic plot that keeps you guessing where it’s going to go. As we see the characters we have come to love and know develop further, it’s like you they are your friends, you are rooting for them, totally three dimensional, relatable and believable, I absolutely love this series and will be looking forward to book 6

This was my first Cara Hunter book and I knew this was apart of the Adam Fawley series so I was a little bit worried that I would be lost. However, all the characters are introduced at the beginning of the book so I knew the dynamic between everyone and their past. I really enjoy police detective drama books as I love watching television programmes too!

A good thriller has to have an ending that you cannot guess which this book has! I love how there are two story lines going on with two different crimes but there are also ongoing relationships explored between the cast.

I also think Cara explores the possible sexual assault of a man by a woman really well and It was interesting to see how it was investigated but the writing was sensitive to the issues.

It is published on the 18th March 2021 and I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys police investigation reads. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. 😀

A fast paced crime series, each book consistent in style and delivery!

Had me eager to turn each page with interesting characters and a deeply engaging plot. One word - gripped!

Join DI Adam Fawley and his team as they deal with a professor and a student which is a case of he said/she said regarding sexual assault. Then add in a separate investigation into a murder and how close to the bone it turns Adam's life upside down.

Time to find out....the whole truth!

Thought this book was well written, with good character builds and suspenseful throughout. Two differing stories that run side by side but does not get to confusing. Great twist at the end

The Whole Truth is Hunter’s fifth book in the Fawley series. Having been a fan of the series for a while now, I was extremely excited to be accepted for this ARC.
When an Oxford student accuses a university lecturer of sexual assault DI Adam Fawley and his team think that they have heard it all before. But this time it’s a strapping male rugby player accusing his accomplished and esteemed female professor. There is a second storyline that intercepts the story part way through leading to a murder investigation that being Fawley, and his heavily pregnant wife Alex, to the very forefront of the story.
Hunter has a wonderful story telling style which switches between the many characters. She tells the story through many different mediums including police interviews, news reports, text messages and emails. This style keeps the information flowing in a range of ways allowing the reader to receive the information they need at the time they need it. My only criticism with this series is that there are so many characters it is sometimes difficult to keep track of them all. That however, does not stop this from being a stunning crime thriller which you must add to your “to be read” list.

I'm a huge fan of Cara Hunter and love reading her books. DI Adam Fawley and his team never disappoint. This case involves a student from Oxford Uni involved in an assault, there are many twist included a massive one, when reading I actually said out loud Noooo! Rooting for Adam & his team to get the right result. You will not regret reading this!

an exciting new chapter in the series of the DI Adam Fowley.
A bit slow to start but then I got really into it, was tense until the end, into the story, with exciting plots and constant twist in the stories. Great investigation work and insight into each character's life.
I strongly recommend the new addition to the series.

A gripping, twisty story. Two plots run along side each other but this causes no confusion. I have not read any books in this series before but plenty of background information meant this was not an issue.

I had really high hopes for this psychological thriller and it was my first written by this author. On starting the book, it was stated at the beginning that this was part of a series, however, the story started explaining who all the regular characters were making the book easier to understand when read as a single book in its own right. This was a great help to know who is who. However, the book was all over the place; going from person to person; different crimes; and different people. It was so so confusing all the way through and it had a detrimental affect on the story. I spent more time trying to keep up with who was doing what than I did reading the actual book.
As a psychological thriller it says what it does on the cover, and the story was not bad. My reading experience was not a pleasant one sadly.

Impressed by the writing and observation plus some funny, clever turns of phrase that I really loved - easy to read, conversational tone - I really liked the way she spoke directly to reader at times then at other times in third person he/she - good mix that makes the reader feel like a friend and part of the story. I hadn't read any of Cara Hunters books before but will search for her other books now and try to read them in order. I really liked how at the start she recapped who people were just in case, like me, you'd not read previous ones which is good for newbies - and I liked the different formats she threaded through ,making it very relevant and will do well amongst a wider audience eg: WhatsApp message chats, true crime podcasts, police interviews and diagrams/drawings/notes written by the characters - it all enhanced the story telling and characterisation and kept the pace and the thills up!. It was interesting how she worked the two separate crimes into the same story - even though they weren't connected - it helped to show other police colleagues in a deeper dimension and developed their roles and personalities - and most importantly established their relationships with Adam -and why they liked/ disliked him - which is crucial in this.Most wanted to believe his story. It made you care for Adam (and Alex) even though there are moral questions asked about their previous actions - that make you see he's fundamentally flawed - and makes you also question your sense of right and wrong. It's good to refer back to previous experiences and relationships- how he'd lost his child - is having a new baby - fears about stalkers - involvements in previous crimes from previous books - competitiveness at work - stereotypes challenged in the Morgan/Fisher story then flipped repeatedly - themes of justice or revenge and how the line between them is very thin. Would recommend this book - and am now hunting for others from the same author which is always a good sign. Looking forward to future works now too. .

I found this book pretty hard to get into. Purely because I’ve never read any of the authors books before and I unintentionally found myself in the middle of a series. It almost felt like I was at a party where everyone else knew each other.
However once I got to know the characters I really got into it. There was lots going on to keep me guessing so I ended up binge reading to find out who had done what where. I’ll look out for the authors other books & as it appears the series will be turned into a TV show I’ll definitely be watching as I love a detective drama. Ultimately a clever police procedural that was definitely enjoyable.

Another excellent book by Cara Hunter that I couldn't put down! This book features D.I. Adam Fawley with his fellow policemen who investigate the accusation of sexual abuse of a male student by a woman professor. He also finds that a man that he put in prison who protested his innocence for rape and murder, named the Roadside Rapist, is being released and causes great concern to Fawley and his wife Alex.

Two different cases and loads going on with DI Adam Fawley and the team this is a book choc full of twists and turns and it was an excellent read. Cara Hunter really has a fantastic way with words she draws you in from the very start of every book this one being no exception and the pace never lets up.
A police procedural with some great characters that I really like especially as we learn more about them in every book and that makes these books special for me, I also see there is to be a tv series going to be made of the series and I really can’t wait for that I’m sure it will be fabulous and just who on earth is going to be cast as Fawley.
So truth and lies, murder, stalking oh it’s all going on and I’m not saying anything more in my option you should just pick up the book and read it it’s all you want from a great story that will leave you gasping for more, roll on the next in the series please and a massive thanks to Cara Hunter for a wonderful read.

Adam Fawley and the the team are back solving cases. The book starts out with the team trying to solve an alleged sexual assault, but towards the middle of the book, someone close to Fawley is murdered. Is Adam Fawley as innocent as everyone thinks? The book, as always, went above and beyond in the way that the story is told, with the newspaper cut outs, blog posts and group chats. It really does make you feel that you are part of the investigation.l. I had no idea who the suspect was, despite Cara leaving a huge clue. This book has me reading until the early hours of the morning.
