I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and I’m reviewing it voluntarily. This is the first book I have read by Dalia Dupris. Rebecca and Raymond are former high school sweethearts who haven’t seen each other for years until Rebecca decides to return to their hometown in the hopes of rekindling their romance, Except she finds Raymond is engaged to her best friend from middle school and he thinks she is dating the hometown hero, Add that to the fact that they are working together to try to save his family’s business, the local ice cream shop, and everything isn’t exactly what it looks like on the surface.
This book was boring and the chemistry between Rebecca and Raymond is nonexistent The premise held potential, but the constant misunderstandings and lack of communication between the characters was annoying. At one point I was hoping Rebecca and Raymond didn’t end up together because they seemed ill suited.

Sometimes when you don't love a main character, the book is a struggle for you. From the start I could not connect with Rebecca Layton. I was drawn into the fact that this was a second chance love story about high school sweethearts. I love send chance love stories.

Since I was Team Raymond the entire book, I felt the book was just ok.

Rebecca returns home hoping to rekindle her relationship with the only man she ever loved. Upon her return she is devastated to hear the gossip that Raymond has a fiance. She reluctantly agrees to help Raymond save his family business.

I loved the premise of this book. The characters are great and I was rooting for them to get together. I felt that the ending came too fast and was too easy of a wrap up the the story. The story is perfect if you are looking for a quick read.

Rebecca return home after 2 years with the intention to reconcile her relationship with Raymond. However, she discover that she might have been too late. Raymond is in a relationship and there is news that he have proposed. Given the state of family business, Raymond has seek Rebecca for help. Being in a position where she can neither agree or reject, Rebecca is at a crossroad.

It is a warm love story that make you feel sad thinking about all the loss time and as the story develop, you could not help feeling helpless for Rebecca and to feel her pain doing what she have to do.

Rebecca Layton returns to her hometown in the hopes of reuniting with her past love, Raymond Colton, only to find he's engaged to her best friend from long ago. Crushed, she doesn't know what to do. Should she just accept Raymond has moved on or do everything she can to win his love back? It won't be easy as she broke his heart years ago when she left to fulfill her dreams in the big city. When Raymond's father seeks her marketing help with his fledgling ice cream shop, she can't say no. As her and Raymond work close together, sparks fly and tempers flare. Can these two love birds reconcile past hurts or will their love evaporate faster than a mocha whirl?

A Whirl with my Mocha-Chocolate Swirl is a brand new installment in the One Scoop or Two series. The African American hero/heroine offers readers a fresh take on romance. I love reading diverse romance and this one took me by surprise. With an angsty plot, Dalia Dupris wows the reader with emotional narration. There's plenty of past hurts and misunderstandings for Rebecca and Raymond to overcome. I appreciated the raw emotional tension throughout the book. This is a character-driven story with plenty of conflicts. I really wished I could give Rebecca and Raymond a shake and tell them to share their feelings. The ending felt a little rushed. Overall, A Whirl with my Mocha-Chocolate Swirl is a terrific beach read that can be read at any time of the year. If you like your romance angsty, you'll love this one! I look forward to reading more from the author.

I was drawn to this book by the title and its cover art. Not to mention, the synopsis pulled me in even further. A romance novel about two former high school sweethearts who are their towns prom king and queen but eventually part ways after believing for each of their own reasons that the love just wasn’t there.

After leaving California for several years to pursue a career and build a life for herself, Rebecca is returning with the hopes of rekindling a romance and relationship with the love of her life Raymond. And while she is ecstatic at the chance for a second chance, she is received with a less than a warm welcome. Not only is Raymond hurt by her leaving, he’s managed to move on and attempt to build a life with someone else. Just as Rebecca and Raymond have all but given up on one another, an opportunity presents itself for them to work together to save Raymond’s family business, Colton’s Ice Creamery. An opportunity to work together as a team that brings back old feelings for Raymond and further solidifies Rebecca’s undying love for him.

A Whirl With My Mocha Chocolate Swirl was an ode to what happens when second chances present themselves in love and in life. What happens to love when communication enters the fray.

The ending came too quickly for me. I was left with lots of questions and ultimately wondered if this book would materialize into a series.
