Carrie, a nurse, lives with her sister and her sister's family When Carrie gets suspended from her job on suspicion of a crime, things start to get difficult, between her and her sister. Alex's husband no longer trusts her and doesn't want her in their home.

This was an odd book, I felt I could not relate, or really believe the story.

I really enjoy reading books from this author so much so that I pass them on to family and friends to read although I do ask for them back when they have finished with them

This was my first book by this author and I have to say it very quickly gripped me and hooked me into the story.

We have two sisters living together where one is the dominant sister and the other sister seems to rely on her due to an event, as yet not revealed, that happened to her in the past. This is until the older sister is involved in an investigation into two deaths at the A+E Department where she works and has a lead role. From this point on many things change, and we discover a number of hidden secrets.

I found this to be a very engaging story that quickly hooked you and built up tension as it went along. A great example of a psychological thriller, and alongside the story we have interesting interplay between the three main characters, but do they know each other as well as they think they do? At times it rather felt like a car crash you needed to turn away from.

I did guess many aspects of the story as the book progressed but that certainly didn’t take away my enjoyment from the book. I’m happy to recommend the book, especially if you enjoy a good psychological thriller, I look forward to reading more of the back catalogue by this author. Overall gave it 4 1/2 stars.

I would like to say thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing a copy of this book to me for an open and honest review.

A thrilling read from start to finish, this is KL Slater at her very best. Everyone has their secrets, some more guilty than others but the jaw-dropping conclusion will leave you stunned. This book just begs to be read in one sitting, hopefully when you don't have an early start the next day.

I was given a copy of The Girl she Wanted by K L Slater by the publisher in exchange for a honest review. I have read several of K Slaters books before so was pleased to be able read the latest novel. The novel is set around two sisters, when Alexas sister Carrie is accused of murdering patients at the hospital does she believe she didn't do it and dies she trust her to care for her daughter.
This book has the usual twists and turns of a great psychological thriller. A must read.

Another brilliant read from K L Slater. After the breakdown of her marriage Carrie is currently living with her younger sister Alexa, husband Perry and baby Florence, Alexa has had mental health problems and relies on her sister especially with childcare for Florence, who Carrie adores. Carrie is an A and E manager at King’s Mill Hospital and finds herself suspended as there has been two suspicious deaths and she is the one under suspicion, Alexa initially supports Carrie but Perry doesn’t trust her and thinks she should move out as she could be a danger to Florence as one of the suspicious deaths was a child. But when Florence is hurt while Carrie is looking after her Alexa begins to have doubts and as the story unfolds so many lies and secrets are revealed. This is a gripping thriller that will have you hooked. A brilliant read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

After reading one too many police procedurals, I decided to take a break before my detectives start to merge into one fuzzy blur of complicated background stories and piling body counts. The Girl She Wanted by K. L. Slater offered me the break that I needed and I had fun delving into the world of unreliable narrators, secrets and lies.

Carrie is a nurse with over twenty year’s experience. Her career and reputation take a big hit when a series of suspicious deaths occur in her ward. Now everyone, including her family and friends, starts to look at her differently. Is Carrie really guilty of the heinous crimes? Is she the victim of a set up? I had so many questions going into this story. I didn’t know who to believe.

Told from different perspectives, there were twists and turns that had me changing my mind about the characters. Some of the chapters were slower though, which I wasn’t a fan of. However, the secrets, lies and reveals had my attention and kept me turning pages until the end. Not my favorite book by the author but still one that I recommend to fans of this genre.

I actually got a review copy from Netgalley but forgot to download it onto my shelf before it expired, so I bought a copy instead to read later, I’m glad I did because it’s a very interesting story.
In the A&E department of a hospital, a young intern finds that there has been two suspicious deaths that have occurred in the last couple of months, while whistle blowing may have ramifications on the floor, he decides to take the matter up with higher management. There are a few good twists in this story and you are kept guessing at each turn. The ending, I did not see coming.

What a fast moving intense read. I hung on every word.

Although this scenario has been written many many times over, this author has written it superbly that keeps the reading breathless and hanging onto each written word on its page.

I really thought I knew where she was going with this, then halfway through I diverted to another theory.
I ended up wrong on both counts!

I won’t go into the story, it’s on the blurb, but I’ll certainly tell you how it made me feel....
Tense (in a good way)
Anxious
And at some points I was shouting “what are you doing, get her out”.
She didn’t listen to me though.

The turn of events were interesting nevertheless and I loved the ending. I’m a great believer in keeping books realistic and not everything has a “happy ever after”.

Great read.

Fans of thrillers, actual life reality and tense fast paced reads would love this. I think.

KL Slater is a magician! With every story she writes the tricks get better. You think you get a handle on where the story is going then with a slight of hand she changes everything.
The concept seemed simple and is written in multiple POV. Carrie is a nurse living with her sister, Alexa after her marriage broke down. She loves spending time with her niece Florence. Alexa seems unable to manage without Carrie much her to husbands concern. Carrie is suddenly suspended from work over a suspicious death and then Florence is hurt whilst in Carrie’s care.
Alexa doesn’t know what to believe but wants to help her sister.
The characters were great and the story unfolds at a fast pace.
Great read and can’t wait for the next novel.

KL Slater is one of those who I know can write an amazing thriller and this book is a perfect example! This book was truly unique, well written, and absolutely unputdownable! It had a storyline that I don’t think I’ve read before, in a thriller, but was riveting, thrilling, and chilling! So many twists and turns, shocks, thrills, and chills! Like hopping on a rollercoaster and getting thrilled and chilled to the max! Highly, highly recommend, as I think this was one of the best by this author and that’s saying a lot!

Will buzz around!

This was a great mystery with a fantastic conclusion. I really couldn’t put it down. I really enjoy this author

Carrie is a seasoned nurse when she's suspended after being the top suspect in a crime. She's currently living with her sister (Alexa), the only one who believes her sister is innocent. While watching Florence (Alexa's child), the child is injured. This is when Alexa really starts to question how well she knows her sister and begins doubting her involvement in a crime.

K.L Slater is an underrated book when it comes to thrillers. Just like her other book this one kept me on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns.

*Thank you so much Bookouture, NetGalley and K.L Slater for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I can't wait to read more by her!*

3.5 rounded up for good twists

I have read several books by this author and they never disappoint! The writing, characters and pace on point. These particular characters were pretty unlikable as a whole. The second half of this story cruised along and delivered some fun twists. Will be on the lookout for the next one by KL Slater! Enjoy!

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Bookouture for a copy in exchange for a review.
