Where the World Ends is a strange, half baked kid's story with IKEA-esque illustrations. 3 animal friends who are bored become curious about where the world ends, then abruptly take off on a hike to find out.

It's a cute idea, and parts like turning the page for a mountain adventure were cute, whimsical moments. Those they meet along the way aren't significant and don't seem to have any role except to define the setting. At one point, a "community service employee" tells them they are not allowed to cross a path, and they do anyway. Seeing how there's little explanation, moral, or context and that this is for young readers, that's annoying content from a parent's perspective. Additionally, this wasn't an easy or pleasant read-aloud.

Thank you NetGalley and Princeton Architectural Press for a copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

This book was different but kind of fun! The illustrations are cute! I didn't totally love this book, but I think a lot of kids and parents will enjoy it and find the funny parts of it.

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC!

I liked the premise and the illustrations. The execution is okay. I just wished we got a more satisfying ending.

"Where the World Ends" by Davide Cali and Maria Dek is an adorable story about a trio of friends that are looking for the edge of the world. The three critters decide to set off on an adventure and meet a lot of creatures along the way telling them that their goal is impossible. Their day long adventure takes some amazing twists and turns, but will they ever find where the world ends?

My family and I loved this story. We had such a fun time following along with Zip, Trik and Flip. The illustrations for this book are endearing and engaging. The story line was well written and kept our young readers excitedly turning the pages. The ending of the book was not the most satisfying.. after all of the build up. However, we still enjoyed the book overall and would recommend it!

With quirky and eye catching illustrations, this adventure saga in a picture book is 3 friends searching for the world's end. The illustrations are full of details to explore and the three friend's adventure is quite a fun journey.

Review to come December 2020 to blog/goodreads.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I just found out this one is written by Davide Cali when adding the book to Goodreads as currently reading! I have read a few of his books and in general I like them! Yeah, I picked this one out for the cover and blurb and didn't even notice the author.

In this one three friends ask the question many kids have probably asked before: "Where do clouds go if we can't see them anymore?" But I am guessing that unlike all those kids, many didn't think to actually go on a quest, and also most kids can't just travel all the lengths this group of friends travel.

I was very delighted to see that they didn't just go and walk to the end of the world, instead they prepared themselves for it. Packing bags with food, items and whatever else may or may not be needed, making a map.

However.. after that instead of just going to search by themselves.... they ask everyone they pass by and that just got a bit boring. I thought the plan was to ask directions IF NECESSARY. Not all the time.. Come on, why don't you just try it first by yourself and then ask people to see if anyone knows (besides everyone has a different opinion on what counts as the end of the world so yeah...). I would have loved to see them do that, that would have made the story more fun for me and more engaging.

Plus, I found the ending very disappointing. It ends just like that? Eh? I guess you will have to get an end somewhere, but I just wasn't a fan of this one, especially considering they also climbed another mountain (and some other things), what makes this one special? The sun that is setting? Good lord...
The map makes an appearance, and I am not sure if I should laugh or just roll my eyes.

The art was OK. Not always my favourite, but in overall I enjoyed it.

So yeah, a bit confused with my feelings on this one, so I cannot rate it more than 2 stars.

Weak. Three interchangeable animal friends decide to find the end of the world, so they trek past all manner of other animals and through all kinds of landscape, to get there – and then come back. It's all very well calling this "an A, B and C adventure" but it's a waste of time if you can't give any character to any of them – or even let us know which is flippin' which. And the end of this (not very attractive) book is a big let-down. Save your pennies.
