This novel is the perfect reminder to write and notarize a living well, DNR, end-of-life guidance, funeral plans, and to research appropriate death with dignity programs ahead of time.

I loved the way this book made me think about more than the mystery itself, but also about the ethical and moral dilemmas which people in the medical profession must ponder. I am not usually a fan of medical procedural as often find the author to be self indulgent in the level of detail they include, but this one hit the right mark of enough information to understand what is going on while not dragging it out.

Fatal Intent is a medical thriller full of suspense. When elderly patients start mysteriously dying days after minor surgeries, Dr. Kate Downey is determined to find out why. Her investigation unearths a list of suspects and leads her on a dangerous journey. No one is safe in this fast paced, twisty thriller. As the list of victims increases, Dr. Downey is propelled into life threatening situations that left me racing to the nail biting conclusion.

WOW!!! This one MUST be on your reading list for this summer!

Kate, 30, has lost her parents and a child; now her husband is in the hospital - wasting away.

Luckily, Kate has her great-aunt, Irm, with whom Kate lives with and keeps her company.

Coincidentally (?), two of the patients Kate had worked on in her role of hospital anesthesiologist have recently passed away. One, a prominent doctor - the other a friend of a friend of Irm. She is suspicious of Molly, the deceased doctor's wife...calling her a black widow.

Transferred at the last moment to work with Dr. Ricken's surgical team, Kate is not too happy. Ricken is both self-important and mean to the others in the operating room.

The patient , Alex, now assigned to Kate's anesthesia team has ALS at 32 years of age and needs a feeding tube placed in him. Should be routine. Yet, the written Do Not Resuscitate and no ventilator restrictions made by both Alex and his wife need to be reserved from the time of surgery through recovery room. This was verbally communicated.

Just as surgery is set to go, Ricken's PA runs in with scan results...

This is where I must end - no spoilers here!

Again, many Thanks to OceanView Publishing and NetGalley for superior read!!!

Fatal Intent by Tammy Euliano is a fast-paced medical mystery. Because Dr. Euliano is a medical doctor, her knowledge and experience makes this story seem authentic and informative. Anesthesiologist Dr. Kate Downey becomes aware that a few patients who had a simple surgical procedure at her hospital died a few days after their operation. Because they had already been released from the hospital before their death, the hospital is not likely to be held responsible for the tragedies. But something is definitely not right and Kate’s superiors do not share in her enthusiasm in detecting the cause and manner of the unexpected deaths. Is there a common denominator? Did the problems occur on her watch? Could this be happening at other hospitals? Is this intentional and therefore a crime? There are many interesting characters, the good people and the not so good people and sometimes it is difficult to establish which is which. There is plenty here to keep the reader turning the pages. For anyone who has ever had surgery, this will leave a chill but Fatal Intent is well-worth the read. Thank you to Oceanview Publishing, NetGalley and the author for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was such an interesting story. I don’t typically read medical thrillers/suspense stories but this one was actually really good.

I felt so much suspense and there were some really great moments in this one! I also really appreciated the way this whole story came together and how it was developed.

I really enjoyed this, as it definitely was out of my comfort zone.

Right from the very beginning, I was gripped by this controversial but enthralling tale by Tammy Euliano. Elderly patients are dying after undergoing minor surgery and anesthesiologist Dr Kate Downey decides to find out why this might be, though not everyone at the hospital in Florida where she works is happy.

This is a fast-paced medical drama with an end that I didn't see coming. The author's characterisation was excellent, especially of Kate whose husband Gregg was caught up in an explosion, resulting in him being in a coma. Kate was a very likeable character who wanted to protect everyone in her care along with her friends and family.

A thrilling medical story that has a number of twists and turns, together with plenty of action and a friendship. All in all, a great début.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Oceanview Publishing via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

Her patients start dying a day or so after minor surgery to alleviate the symptoms of severe illness. She confronts the surgeon involved who blames her. She starts to investigate, helped by her star medical student and the lawyer son of one of the victims. As she gets closer to the perpetrator her own life and that of her friends is put at risk. Fast moving medical thriller

A gripping fast-paced medical thriller. I was on the edge of my seat many times during the story. A number of patients at the hospital where Dr. Kate Downey is an anesthesiologist are dying within days of undergoing fairly minor surgeries and she, with help from a family member of one of the deceased persons, sets out to get to the bottom of the deaths. Kate is a very likable protagonist as are some of the other characters. The story touches on end-of-life issues and is very well written; you don't feel like you need a medical degree to understand it. There are many characters to keep track of, especially near the beginning, so you need to pay attention. This book was very easy to read and I'd definitely read another book by this author. Highly recommended.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Oceanview Publishing for an opportunity to read this novel.

Fatal Intent is a story which revolves around a hospital, it's health care workers and it's patients. The author deals with the concept of mercy killing and explores the many white, grey and black areas of it.

That is a very fascinating concept to explore and it can teeter on either side of the fence. The author has done a spectacular job of handling it in a well- balanced way.

As for the writing, the starting of the narration did not light a spark with me and it took me atleast 100 pages before I could get interested in the story and it's characters. The female lead particularly annoyed me at places. Her character does have a good development curve but it would have been more appreciable and interesting if it had happened faster. But by the time i neared the ending, the story had become very intriguing and I couldn't put down the book at all.

All the secondary characters are well written and capture a small piece of the reader's heart. They also really help move along the story and I particularly loved the way it was written.

The story has a thrill element to it and a small mystery too. Usually those are the things which hook me to a book, but not in this case. The medical element to it fascinated me and the issue this book was based on made me think about it in an impartial, humane way.

I am giving this book 5 stars just for the fact that it was written well and for the many questions it raised and made me think answers upon. Thanks to the author and Netgalley for the ARC and this is my impartial review for the same.

Dr. Kate Downey is an anesthesiologist who is staying with her aunt since her husband has been in a coma. She is going through a lot, and her husband's brother is trying to get her to end her husband's life when she is not ready to do that. On top of this, she has discovered that several of her patients have died a few days after they have simple surgical procedures. She starts to notice some similarities in the cases, and soon suspects that something sinister is going on. With the help of one of the deceased patients' sons and another employee at the hospital, she sets out to find out what is happening to these patients. And when she gets to close, things get dangerous!

This is a great read!

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book.

This medical thriller focuses on end-of-life issues and will likely polarize those who read it.

Dr. Kate Downey, an anesthesiologist, discovers that incapacitated patients seem to be dying at home just a few days after a minor surgical procedure. Her suspicions lead to her to become involved in an amateur investigation that affects her family, friends, colleagues, and her job. NO SPOILERS.

Because the theme of this novel is so controversial, it would likely make a great choice for a book club discussion. If life is no longer worth living, if a particular loved one is a drain on resources, if there's no hope for anything other than a slow, lingering death -- who should decide when that life should end and how should it be done? It's a question that many readers may need to answer in their own personal lives, and it's a good one. The way the topic is handled, and the plot and action of this particular book, however, really left me reeling a bit. I had a very difficult time with the main character, her behavior, and the constant, convenient coincidences that allowed her to pursue the chase to solve these crimes. The romance aspect also really left me rolling my eyes. I usually love any type of novel that has a medical aspect due to my own background, but i just couldn't pull off the necessary suspension of disbelief as events spiraled to the predictable conclusion.

Thank you to NetGalley and Oceanview Publishing for this e-book ARC to read and review. The author certainly holds the credentials and has the experience to write a more realistic medical thriller so I'll keep an eye out for any upcoming fiction title in the genre.

Fatal Intent is a medical mystery for Robin. Cook fans. Why are a young anasthesiologist’s patients dying a few days after medical procedures? The main characters are well developed and likable. Even though you may figure out part of the reason for the deaths, there are some clever twists to surprise you.

This is an excellent medical thriller with sympathetic characters and an intriguing story. There are plenty of red herrings to keep the reader guessing as to what exactly is happening. The events are realistic - and horrifying. There are several sad and shocking moments but a satisfying ending.

I hope there will be more books with Kate, Christian and Aunt Irm in the future!

FATAL INTENT – DR. TAMMY EULIANO
PUBLISHED BY OCEAN VIEW PUBLISHING
PLOT –
Dr.Kate Downey an anesthesiologist, starts suspecting a foul play when elderly patients start dying after discharge at home after undergoing minor surgery. She starts suspecting some foul play and it initially leads her to the surgeon incharge of these patients but she in turn gets blamed and is forced on a paid leave!!
Is there something bigger and sinister going on?? Kate whose husband is in prolonged coma needs to prove her innocence. She goes on her own unorthodox ways in search for the truth. But she is forced to choose between her loved ones by making a monumental decision.
MY THOUGHTS –
Being a doctor myself it was a quick read but otherwise the medical language was quite simple enough to understand for a non medico.
Though the suspect is easily identified the Ys and How’s make it a good mystery which all comes to a justifiable end.
The core essence of this book is the ethical dliema about DNR faced by loved ones when in vegetative or terminally ill cases.
This book can be a good book club pick.
Thank you NetGalley and Oceanview publishing for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

I really enjoy medical dramas so this one was a quick read for me. Kate is an anesthesiologist who loses three patients in a week; and even though they were old, she realizes the surgeries shouldn't have killed them. As she begins to investigate, she is reprimanded by her Chief of Staff as he believes she is partially at fault. But of course things are never as they seem as Kate uncovers a web of secrets that involve people she didn't suspect. The book was fast-paced and fascinating; I look forward to Euliano's next novel!

A fast paced medical thriller with a good character development fit to continue into a series. The ethical dilemma is well written but the author has missed the other side of the coin namely the family’s emotional trauma in seeing a loved one wasting in front of their eyes. The protagonist also doesn’t seem to have much feelings in that aspect, rather she’s carrying a bigger cross in the mismanaged donor heart retrieval. The conclusion felt unnecessarily prolonged with the killing of the resident and the drama in the basement.

Best way to describe this book, a medical mystery romance that touches on some difficult subjects. We walk through a short time in the life of Kate Downey as she deals with the complications of loving a husband who is no longer there, a budding relationship with a new man in her life, a career on the edge, and the suspicious death of multiple patients she recently treated. I became truly vested in Kate and I’ll be watching for any book that might follow her in the next chapter of her life.
