Thank you to #NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing me with a digital copy of this book prior to publication. The Next Everest: Surviving the Mountain's Deadliest Day and Finding the Resilience to Climb Again by Jim Davidson is the incredible memoir of his two attempts at Mount Everest. It s a very suspenseful well written book that will leave you on the edge of your chair as the climbers attempt to cross huge crevasses while making their way across ladders tied together across the gap. He includes lots of details and you will learn a great deal about the what it is like to attempt a climb like this. Davidson was at Everest at Camp One when the largest earthquake ever to hit Nepal killed almost 9,000 people, including 18 people on Everest. Davidson and his team were stranded on the mountain for two days before a helicopter could rescue them and he vowed to go back and try Everest again. He went back in 2017. You will have to read the book to find out if he was successful but this book is not just about reaching the summit of Everest it is also about facing and overcoming challenges in your own life. I highly recommend this book.
