I was so glad to get more Rhen and Harper in this book. I was not however, happy with the outcomes. The writing style and story telling are spectacular and true to Brigid. I was not ready to say good bye to these characters and this world. |
I got the whole book in the mail a few days ago and I cannot wait to delve into this world again!!! Don't break my heart please Brigid |
As much as I want to rate this high, I can't. The file didn't get sent to me. But don't get me wrong I adore the first book and making my way through the second one. Love it too, so this would be a good read. Thanks for the excerpt though |
I did not realise this was only the sample. I'll certainly be buying the full novel, as I'm excited to see how the series ends. |
Sixty days. Either make peace or there will be war. Harper, Rhen, Lia Mara, and Grey must prepare for war and for estranged relationships. Will they all survive even though some of them are enemies? This has to be my favorite out of the trilogy. I like how all four characters have point of views in the book compared to two characters. I love the magic and the relationships. The action was great. The ending felt like there were loose ends, so I’m hoping a spin off or something happens. |

Oh boy could I not stop reading this book! Kemmerer did an amazing job bringing our favorite characters back together for this final book. I loved seeing all four main characters POVs throughout the book and not knowing where we were going to go-we could be dealing with something GIGANTIC with Rhen and Harper and get a major drop...and then jump over to Grey, making you want to keep reading to get all your answers. And is it crazy to ask if we'll see them in ANOTHER book/series down the line...? Here's to hoping! |
Because we followed all of the characters from the other books, I thought I would really like this conclusion. Turns out that is the reason why I didn't like it. I didn't feel like there were specific characters I should be rooting for, there was no distinction between who was right and wrong. And I don't see how the ending makes sense either. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters, and the one I liked the most and related to, we barely heard from. The world and concept was fun, I just didn't vibe with the execution. |
I thought this was suppose to be the book, but it was a sampler. The sampler did make me excited for the book. |
Thank you so much NetGalley and publisher for this great sample of A Vow So Bold and Deadly! Loved it! I can’t wait to read the rest of the book! |

I love this book, it is the third book in the series. These books are well written and full of excitement, drama and mixed with a splash of love. It was easy to dive into the story and get lost there, once I started and became invested it was hard to put down. I highly recommend! |
I had such a fun time reading this, you guys! It had the same page-turning magic that ACSDAL did. Although with more emotional turmoil. Why can’t men just talk about their feelings!? I swear. It’s like, would it kill them? Rhen gets a lot of harsh judgement for how he treated Grey, and while I don’t condone it, I understand it. He’s a victim of trauma and his actions were directly impacted by his fear of magic and his fear of Lilith. Grey’s decision to keep his secret impacted them both harshly, but I also don’t blame him for not revealing it. I loved that by the end of the book both characters realize that they could have done so much differently to spare each other from the pain they both inflicted. Rhen and Grey, despite the seasons they spent together, never truly got to unravel what that did to them, or the bond they shared from it. It brought them closer than just Crown Prince and duteous Commander. While the actions of the second book drove them apart, ultimately is was the bond they forged in the first one that brought them back together. The ending of this felt therapeutic. I know a lot of people think Rhen deserved better, and I while I agree, I also think he needed to give up his throne to Grey. A lot of terrible stuff happened to Rhen, and it all revolved around his leadership. His ability to rule will always be impacted by what happened to him, and it’s shaped how his people (and he himself) view him. He needs the freedom to heal, to be with Harper, to find what it means to be himself and not just a man plagued by a monstrous past. I was left with a few ?’s like how did Grey find the magic to change Rhen, and WHY WHY WHY are we trusting Nolla Verin with Syhl Shallow?? But other than that, I enjoyed how it was wrapped up. It gave me hope for Grey and Rhen, and it gave me hope for their kingdom. I will say that I wanted one more scene between Rhen and Harper, but hey, maybe we’ll get a novella? |
The perfect finale to one of my favourite series. I adore the cast of characters that Kemmerer has created - everyone is so real, distinct and compelling. I'm not ready to let this world go. |
The first few chapters of this were quite frustrating to read, as I felt all of the problems could be solved with simple communication between the opposing parties. I liked the return of Harper and Rhen's perspectives, but they quickly became boring to read from as they had no real progress with their issues. Lia Mara and Grey seemed like more reasonable of the main four and like they actually have a real purpose and they dealt with their struggles realistically than the other two. |
This was just a sampler and omg I need the rest!!! I'm making this review and the book is already out and you better believe I'm buying the full copy right now so I can find out what happens to my curse breaker family!!! |

I love the characters in this series. I especially love Grey. What is great about this third book is that now we can see from all of our favorite characters points of view. The world is a great reimagining of Beauty and the Beast but with its own unique spin. The world also is continually growing bigger in each book so far. I cannot wait to get to the end of this series to see what happens. |
Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I'm a fan of Brigid Kemmerer so I was super excited to see this. Although it's only an exceprt. I do wish it it was the full book. Overall, It added to my extreme excitement for this book! |
I didn’t realize when I requested this that it was a sample and I don’t care for samples so I waited until I could read the whole book. I have to say I was disappointed. The first 2 were both 5 star reads for me and this one was fine, but nothing compared to its predecessors. Basically the entire book was just hours of everyone squabbling. I thought with all that tension it would at least build up to a big grand finale, but after all that, the ending was incredibly anticlimactic. Thank you NetGalley, author, and publisher for the sample in exchange for an honest review. |

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book! I really loved A Curse So Dark and Lonely, and I liked A Heart So Fierce and Broken well enough. However, A Vow So Bold and Deadly just didn't work as well for me. I loved Harper and Rhen in the first book, so I was excited to have their perspectives again, but I felt like having all four perspectives was a bit too much for this book. The main issue with the book, though, is the utter lack of plot. The whole book is seemingly about the war that is imminent between Emberfall and Syhl Shallow, and yet everyone just spends a lot of time talking about that war without anything really happening, and then it all ties up nicely. I also really don't like Lia Mara's character, and I especially didn't like her in this book. Now that she is queen of Syhl Shallow, I had hoped that she would be a little less self-effacing and whiny, but no. She constantly goes on about how she needs to be nice and not violent like her mother was, but really she is just a very nothing character. I really wanted to like this book, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. If you love the series, it's probably still worth reading so you can see how it wraps up, but prepare for some disappointment. |
Loved it! Can't wait to start this one in our library's virtual bookclub for the teens. The other two were a big hit as well. |
A Vow So Bold and Deadly by Brigid Kemmerer at the top of my list of most anticipated reads for 2021, and I was so very excited to finally get my hands on the book! I have really enjoyed the series since it was first released in 2019, and while I’m not at all ready for the series to come to an end, I am very curious to see how it will do so. If you’ve been around my blog a while, or if you follow me on Instagram, then you probably know how much I LOVE A Curse So Dark and Lonely. Not only because it’s such a unique, addictive read, but also because it’s a Beauty and the Beast retelling, which I LOVE. (Seriously, can I get more retellings like this in the future, please?!) I thought the sequel, A Heart So Fierce and Broken was fantastic as well, and after the MAJOR cliffhanger ending in it, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this final book. (It was a LONG wait… but it was also SO worth it.) While I wanted to absolutely devour this book after I finally got my hands on it, I chose to read it slowly instead, because, as I said above, I really, really didn’t want the story to end. This was actually hard to do because the story was SO good, and things kept happening, and I just wanted to devour the book as quickly as I could. Once I hit the halfway mark, I was a goner, and read the last half of the book in one sitting. And I enjoyed every minute of it. I had no idea what to expect going into this book. The first and second books went in completely different directions than expected them to, and so I had no idea what would happen in this third book. The storyline picks up not long after where A Heart So Fierce and Broken ends and quickly goes from there. We get multiple viewpoints throughout the book, as we did in the previous books, and it was so nice to get in these characters' heads again. We learn so much new info! This series has so many great characters, and I love them all so much, and want to know so much more about them! The first half of the book is a little slow, but once you hit the halfway mark, things really start to heat up. I’m pretty happy with the way things ended in this book… though… While it feels like some things came together rather nicely, it also felt like some things were left open – either to be left to our interpretation or for something else, I have no idea. I definitely feel like there could be more to this story in the future, and if Brigid wants to add to this series, or make a spin-off, I would SO be down for that. Give me all the books! Overall; I thought A Vow So Bold and Deadly was the perfect end to this wonderful series. I wasn’t at all ready for it to end, and I am hoping beyond hope that we get more books in this series down the road, or maybe a spin-off series, because I’m so not ready to say goodbye to these characters. If you’ve read and loved the other books in this series, do check out this conclusion with A Vow So Bold and Deadly! If you’ve not yet started this fantastic series… well… what are you waiting for?? Happy Reading! |
