I couldn’t do it! As soon as I saw that this was only a blurb I knew I shouldn’t read it because I would feel the NEED to finish the whole book which won’t come out until January *sobbing bookishly*. Knowing Brigid Kemmerer this will be another fabulous book and hopefully a wonderful ending to this magnificent trilogy. |
The excerpt was really good- loved that it gave us a chapter from each of the 4 main characters' POV. The writing is just as strong and immersive as the first two books, and I can't wait to read more. |
I received an excerpt of the 3rd installment in The Cursebreaker Series by Brigid Kemmerer. This book sets us up on the brink of a war between Syhl Shallow and Emberfall. In this parallel world to our own, we are presented with four characters that are important to this battle. The story is written from the four different perspectives of these characters. Two of the characters are strong willed female leads. It is refreshing to see two women that can think for themselves instead of having the men tell them how they should be and the book even addresses this with a queen that doesn't necessarily need a king. The story appears to be fast paced and full of action. I like the different perspectives so you can get into the heads of several characters to get all sides of the story. I think this will be a story I will completely enjoy and I can't wait to be able to finish it. Thank you to NetGalley, the author (Brigid Kemmerer), and the publisher (Bloomsbury USA) for the copy. |
This excerpt was so exciting and I'm so intrigued for the full book! I've loved this trilogy so far and I can't wait for the conclusion at long last. |
OMG I NEED THIS BOOK ASAP! This excerpt was fantastic and left me wanting more! So excited to read the full book! |
Even though this was a teaser (only 4 chapters!), this book has caught my attention. I really hope that I will enjoy it more than the previous two books, considering that the story is told from all four main characters' perspectives. The teaser was interesting but I need more! |
This was just an excerpt but it SUCKED ME RIGHT IN. I can’t wait for this whole book. I liked that it was so many POV and feel so much tension. I’m waiting to see how this is all going to play out. |
So far, this sample made me really excited for the final installment in this series. I look forward to reading the whole book soon. |
Nothing is more exciting than the upcoming release of a long-awaited sequel. January couldn't come fast enough. |
i’m so keen for the full length novel!!! this preview was enough to remind me of how stunning this series and the writing are. |
This series gets better every book. This excerpt into the third book was truly magnificent. I loved the way Brigid incorporated reminders of the events that took place in the previous books so seamlessly. The stakes are evidently very, very high in this book. There is tension ALL around. This sneak peak made me doubly excited to read the full book. |
This preview seems so promising! I'm super excited for how this series will end. It's one of my all-time-favourites without the third book even being released yet. |
This sample makes me even more excited for this book! Perhaps I shouldn't have read this now...the tease is just what it is. A tease! |
More insights of the characters and the situations they are in. Very excited to read the rest next year |
That feeling when you fly through the first two books in a trilogy only to realize the third book won’t be released until January. 😭 This series is a masterful reimagining of the Beauty and the Beast story expanded into a wider universe. There’s still a beastly prince, a fierce and brave beauty, and an enchanted castle, but the curse is darker and the stakes are much higher as our view expands outside the royal grounds and into the lives of the inhabitants of the kingdom who are simultaneously suffering under the neglect of their absent rulers, under threat from neighboring kingdoms, and terrorized by a vicious beast. Maybe if the Prince can find a way to break the curse it will save them all...but maybe it’s already too late. The world of a Curse so Dark and Lonely (The Cursebreakers series) is beautiful and dangerous, the characters are diverse and well-formed, and the relationships are complicated and nuanced. A Heart So Fierce and Broken left on a significant cliffhanger, so I am eager to finish this captivating story. I was able to download a preview of the third book, A Vow So Bold and Deadly from NetGalley, but alas, it is just four chapters. I won’t be able to judge this series in its entirety until I’m able to read the third book, of course, but the preview chapters reminded me that this story remains in Brigid Kemmerer’s capable hands. I have some predictions and guesses about how some plot points will pay off and how the story will end (if you have read these and have predictions of your own please share!) so I am excited to complete this series and see if I am correct! |

This just makes me want to read the rest! My most anticipated book of 2021, I honestly cannot wait to read it all. |
Oh. My. Goodness. I waited a while before starting the Cursebreakers series, but I was so glad I chose to dive in! This sampling of A Vow So Bold and Deadly has me so eager for the whole novel!! Gray and Rhen and Harper and Lia Mara have such a marvelous tale to finish telling. Thank you Brigid Kemmerer for creating this marvelous world! Is it January yet?!?!?! |
I know this is only the excerpt for this book, but I am already awfully excited and cannot wait to read the rest! |
I have read both 'A Curse so Dark and Lonely' and 'A Heart so Fierce and Broken' - both bought on pre-order as the premise of this series enthralled me from the start. I really enjoyed the world building in the past two books, and the majority of the characters I have loved seeing develop and grow as a result of the situations they are placed in. Although I did not enjoy the sequel nearly as much as Book One, I was still very excited and intrigued to read the conclusion of such an epic adventure for Harper, Rhen, Grey and Lia Mara. I received an ARC for the first few chapters of 'A Vow so Bold and Deadly' through NetGalley, in return for an honest review. The last book finished with Grey and Lia Mara in Syhl Shallow, and Harper and Rhen in Emberfall. Whereas Book One focused on the dual perspectives of Harper and Rhen - and their Beauty and the Beast inspired love story, Book Two explored Grey's character and perspective, as well as Lia Mara, the new Queen of Syhl Shallow, after murdering her mother in the last book to gain the throne. 'A Vow so Bold and Deadly' picks up in Grey's perspective, where he remains torn between returning to his cold and cruel best friend and King (Rhen) and his friend Harper, or staying with Lia Mara, his budding romance and new Queen, as he is now commanding her armies and preparing for a war against Emberfall. Grey - as the true heir of the throne can rival Rhen for the throne, and this concluding book will hopefully tackle this and result in one of them being King. Rhen's fear of magic led to the whipping of Grey and Tycho in Book Two, and revealed a rather malicious and brutal side of his character - much to my dismay, as I rather enjoyed his character in Book One. When we switch to his perspective in Chapter Two, we see how Rhen himself is also torn. His love for Harper is stronger than ever, but his heart is torn to his brother who is raising an army against him in Syhl Shallow. Rhen reminds the reader of Harper's cerebral palsey - a disability which she does not let effect her fighting or every day life, and I rather love this representation and how one of our four main characters lives with this but does not let it define her, and commend Brigid for writing Harper's character this way. We discover that Lilith - the enchantress that gave Rhen the curse of finding a girl to love him despite her limited freedom back in Book One - has threatened to take Harper away back to Washington DC if Rhen does not win the war against Grey and Lia Mara, and that this is Rhen's motivation to keep fighting. We see a newfound awkwardness, however, between Harper and Rhen. In Chapter Three from Harper's perspective (my personal favourite character) we see her anger and resentment towards Rhen - who we know orchestrated the whippings of Grey and Tycho. Although she returned back to Emberfall at the end of Book Two and still loves Rhen, we see her heart torn between him and her morals and what is right - away in Syhl Shallow with her brother Jake and friend Grey. We are then given a glimpse of Lia Mara's perspective in the final chapter of this ARC. Her new position as Queen of Syhl Shallow comes with a lot of expectation and responsibility, and despite her sister Nolla Verin's input, she is attempting to be a less ruthless and cutthroat Queen than her mother who came before. The third book to this series is highly anticipated, and I'm very excited to see where Brigid Kemmerer takes these characters, whether the war between Emberfall and Syhl Shallow takes place, and how she wraps up the different storylines she has created. |
I'm ready to see these character back in Havenfall and see where both relationships go and how everything between Grey and Rhen plays out. The relationship with Harper and Rhen in the last book felt super broken and I hated it so much so I'm hoping that their love will come back to life. |
