Another great and very gripping read in the series. Clever twists and turns as usual and I didn't guess the killer, again as usual. Can't wait for the next case.

Angela Marsons does it again, another fab read. This series is one of my favourite ever and I always look out for the next book. This one didn’t disappoint, and I didn’t guess the killer. It was lovely to read how the team came together, and to read about Dawson again, a character I miss. She keeps you gripped from page one, and I love the short chapters. It always keeps you reading ‘just one more chapter’, even late into the night. I’d recommend this series to anyone, 5* every time.

The 13th installment of the popular Detective Kim Stone series, Deadly Cry, by Angela Marsons, begins with a prologue where a little girl begging for attention from her mother, who ignores her, as usual. As the story unfolds, a young mother who is shopping with her small daughter is kidnapped and murdered nearby. Kim Stone, her partner, Bryant, and the rest of her team are on the case, and another similar murder is committed the next day, but this time the child is taken. A note to Kim is found at the murder scene begging for her to stop him from committing any more murders even though he feels he must. Stacey Wood is also investigating a rape case that happened two years prior that was partially solved by another jurisdiction, and it just may be that the cases are related. Kim must work fast to prevent any more murders, as well as save the little boy who was kidnapped.

Those who are familiar with Kim Stone and her team will welcome this fascinating novel with clever twists and turns, as well as surprises. Marsons does an excellent job of developing her characters and readers will almost believe they are real persons. Marsons is a master if weaving several viable scenarios together so that the novel flows and keeps readers on the edge. There is also building suspense from the beginning of the novel right until the very end, and unlike some popular bestselling writers, all of the developments in the novel are explained in the end, so readers are not left hanging.

All of the novels in the series are set in the UK, so the British vernacular is used, making the novel even more interesting. This is a good thriller and is definitely recommended.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I am well and truly back into this series and frankly cannot see me taking a break until I am up to date! Book 13 was just as thrilling as book 12 and if anything slightly better in my humble opinion. I am not going to pretend I am not a fan of this series, but I can still be honest if I don't enjoy a book as much (fan or no fan) but I am secretly thrilled that so far both books 12 and 13 have been absolute bangers! I know some people just pick up books and read them irrelevant of series order, but in my eyes that's a shocking way to read these books featuring Kim Stone.

Kim herself and her absolute lack of social skills is what makes her SUCH a likeable character, her team that we see supporting her with Bryant, Stacey, Penn (my new favourite) along with her boss Woody. The latest murder case they are working on is nothing short of odd, it seems to be a murder without motive. There is something decidedly creepy with this book and to be fair even though I thought I had it figured out, turns out I didn't have it all worked out!

I don't want to rehash the actual plot line as that could be seen as a spoiler for some but what I will say is that this is a brilliant example of a police procedural with cracking characters that will draw you in to want to read more. I am thrilled I am back reading about Stone and the team and am now off to start book 14! Do yourself a favour and go back to the beginning of this series as this gives you a real insight into the characters and team along the way!

D.I. Kim Stone has been ordered to attend a meeting on police protection involving a book signing celebrity, which she has no desire to be at. When she gets a call that a child has been found abandoned in a shopping center and her mother is missing, she quickly leaves for more serious business. The mother is found dead, nearby and Kim is worried about who would kill a young mother. Days later, a second victim is found in a local park, her neck broken just like the first, but her six-year-old son missing. Kim's team is reeling with all the changes going on in their lives. DS Penn's mother passed away leaving him the sole care of his special needs brother. Stacey Wood is working on another unsolved crime while trying to plan her upcoming wedding to her partner and she is worried about it not going well. Then Kim gets a handwritten note from the killer and person who has the boy asking her to help stop him, because he doesn't want to hurt anyone and it will be her fault if she doesn't stop him. Will she be able to bring him home alive?

All I can say, is hold onto your hats, this is another thrilling ride. I love how Angela Marsons is able to take a gripping crime and mesh it well with all the personal life stories of her characters. One of the reasons I enjoy this series so much is because I care about the characters. Kim and her team are wonderful. They work together so well, are very realistic, dedicated and caring people. The second case they are also dealing with involves a couple of rapes that are cold cases and with Stacey's mind for puzzles, she manages to figure out that they are connected. Kim wants profiler, Alison Lowe to assist and with a great deal of reluctance, she agrees. I enjoyed her addition to this series and she does add another interesting character and personality. As the investigation plays out, I was completely pulled into this story. The way the clues are revealed and how they put them all together always amazed me. This was another wonderful addition to the series and had me ready to pick up the next book right away. As always, Jan Cramer does a wonderful job narrating this book. She is the voice of the series and it adds to my enjoyment of these books.

Another excellent book in the DI Kim Stone series. Angela Marsons skillfully draws the reader into the mystery and takes them into the mind of the killer. DI Hunter's character has matured as she faces some truly horrendous criminals. We see all of the same clues, but her ability to put them all in place as the scenery changes makes her one of my favorite characters. As long as Marsons keeps writing these, I'll keep reading.....and recommending....them.

Deadly Cry deals with the case involving the fact that three women were killed in three days. Six-year-old Archie, the son of one of the victims, is missing. It is race against time for Kim and her team. With this complicated case, Alison, a profiler that Kim is not all that fond of, is back to work with the team. However, her expertise is greatly needed with hopes of finding Archie and stopping any more bodies from piling up.

love the way the author leads the reader slowly into the story until they find themselves lost in a maze with murderers and great characters, such as, Kim Stone, Bryant, Stacy, and Penn. Penn's brother Jasper brought tears to my eyes when they lost their mum through cancer. Jasper was born with Down's syndrome and relied on his big brother, Penn for strength to get him through his grief. In fact, there is quite a lot of tearful moments in this story.
great read and 5 stars from this happy reader.

Kim Stone is a heroine that I want to have in real life as my friend and maybe even family/relative. She amazed me each time I read a new chapter of a new investigation that she and her team need to conduct. This book takes the stakes to another level of suspense as time is ticking faster and the run for finding the little orphan after her disappearance is high on the agenda for Kim.

So twisted and so much friendship and vulnerability showed from a favourite heroine.

A few days later a second woman's body is found and her six year old son is missing ,Kim knows she has to race against time to bring the little boy home alive.

Deadly Cry is the 13th book in the DI Kim Stone series by Angela Marsons. This really is an outstanding series and it continues in the same vein, exciting plot, gritty characters and so very well written. Cannot wait to read the next one !

I felt so cozy and I thought to myself when I started reading another book in this series "ahhh, feels like coming home" -- then I realized I was reading a book about murder and rape. Oops! But the feeling lies in the fact that this DI Kim Stone series is just SO good. I care about each member of the team and the cases are always so strongly written. Sure there was some far fetched stuff in this case but it was a smart plot and I was invested as I always am.

A little girl is found in a shopping centre, her mother is nowhere to be seen.
Whilst police and security are doing all they can to find her mother, a gruesome discovery is made just hours later in an abandoned building not far away...the [very] recently murdered body of a woman.

DI Kim Stone was on route to another appointment and happened to be at the shopping centre when she noticed security and police running to attend to the estranged child. She followed to find out what was going on and after checking the child was otherwise ok, and being given the details, decided to leave it in the capable hands of those police already in attendance.

Soon afterwards, as DI Stone is on her way out to investigate the discovery of the murdered woman, she recognises the little girl being brought in by police for temporary care and notes that her mother still hasn’t been located.
With only a flimsy description of the woman as wearing jeans and a blue jacket it was taking time.

When DI Stone arrived at the scene of the murder, one glimpse at the clothes of the fully clad victim told her exactly who it was...only her name remained a mystery, but her ID was soon enough discovered in her handbag which was left beside her body.
The angle of the woman’s head told them that her neck had been snapped, revealing that as the obvious cause of death as there appeared to be no other [obvious] evidence to the contrary.
Kim Stone digested the realisation that she was now in the terrible position of having to be the bearer of the news that would devastate a family and a child who will never see her mother again.

Just two days later while still gathering information on the murder, another woman’s body is found in a park with her neck broken in the same fashion.
It is quickly discovered that this victim’s six year old son was with her at the time and is now missing.

The plot rapidly thickens as clues start to form and similarities show that a possible serial killer is at large.
Kim Stone has her work cut out for her as she grapples with an insistent boss calling her away from her work for other less important duties, and two of her best cops distracted with other equally important business.
As more and more clues come to light it is becoming increasingly obvious that the killer is not done yet, and threats indicate that more killings will occur if they don’t stop him immediately...time is not on their side.

Angela Marsons has delivered yet again, keeping the reader enthralled from beginning to end with incredibly detailed scenarios playing out together to seamlessly merge into a bigger picture.
I am always intrigued and surprised to see how seamlessly Ms.Marsons manages to weave such complicated side stories into an unfolding main story, and all without losing the nuances that add so much flavour to any unfolding story.

Another 5⭐️ winner.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy to read and review.

Another fantastic instalment of the detective Kim stone series. These books just get better and better and this one didn’t disappoint once I had picked it up I couldn’t put it down and read it pretty much in one sitting. This one kept me on my toes and had lots of twists and turns and different theories to think about while reading. This is the 13 th book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone as each book sees the feisty and unique Kim stone solve another crime.
