The Next Teen is one confounding story. Ostensibly it's about using homeless teenage girls for some project with special crystals. Some end up dead, the others are raped when they are no longer useful for the crystals. Each chapter begins with an unrelated vignette about the American president, defeated in the election, refusing to leave the White House. I have no idea as to why this is in the novel as it is so unrelated and pointless. I had also read the first Betty Buick novel and was immensely disappointed. This one, The Next Teen, is better written, but that's not saying a lot when the book is considered as a whole.
Thanks, Netgalley, for the ARC.

Holy cannoli!! This was only book one? Hurry up book 2!!! SO much happens in this book and it mirrors what is happening with the election in the United States and the coronavirus pandemic. I could not put this down once I started it. I thought it was going to a low burn and predictable... it was far from that, Great characterization and plot.

It is also short and able to be finished in a few days.

Thanks to Netgalley, Bob Price and Books Go Socal for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
