I was interested in this book because it was set in the Paleolithic era, a time period I did not know much about. However, it was a struggle to read. The writing felt stilted which made it hard for me to connect to the characters and the story. The characters themselves did not have much development and seemed to blend in with each other. Thus, this book had potential but was not executed well.

I was surprised by how values in the ancient world and our world today are so alike. The characters were really interesting, but, overall, I found this book boring despite the action scenes..

It is rare to read a novel about stone age society, especially a book as gripping as this. The story is centred around a group of diverse characters from various tribes and species of hominids. both homo sapiens and neanderthal.
The author has clearly undertaken detailed research of this relatively unknown period of our history.
I really liked his descriptions of neanderthal society, the race in some ways seemed to be superior to the homo sapiens in their closeness and understanding of the natural world. A lot of comparisons could be made to the modern world and interracial strife and cultural differences.
The action scenes are very believable and exciting to read.
I will definitely be reading the next episode in the series.

This story was a very pleasant surprise. I can honestly say it had everything I look for in a good story.

I don't usually read stories about prehistoric times, but this was on par with Quest for Fire.

There was action, suspense, with a little spice thrown into the mix as well. I am looking forward to the next part of the story to come out. Two thumbs up.

A well-researched, action packed prehistoric story set in the the Stone Age. I thoroughly enjoyed the descriptions of saber-tooth cats, mammoths, and the lifestyle of the nomadic tribesmen. Well worth the read!
