Fuck the bucket list for the soul - Ayelet baron

I swear I gave a review for this already but my account has been playing up so 🤷‍♀️

In parts it was informative and great to read but it was a bit slow going in places too. I’ll give a medium review as I can’t remember most of the book to be honest.

Found this book to be very slow, with convoluted language that was saying a lot to end up not saying much. Tried to read through but it ended up in a jumble with not much concept and a lot of filler words throughout. Not enlightening, in the end

Sorry, this book is just not for me, couldn't cope with the style of writing. Did not finish.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book offers help, suggestions, and stories of discovering yourself, your values, and a journey toward mindfulness. A lot of suggestions and thought-provoking opinions and stories.

I loved and hated this book. I loved the aspect of learning about yourself in all the things you do in actions and reactions. I love the way it’s explained that you really need to learn to say f*uck it sometimes. I didn’t like the whole concept that politics plays in the book. It’s not right in your face but it’s subtle in some areas. Overall this book is totally life changing for some and I would definitely recommend this to those going through changes in life where they are trying to figure out what’s important and what’s not for their own peace and sanity.

I did not expect to find myself agreeing with so much of what was written in this book but it was so insightful and made a lot of sense.

Perceptively written, this book makes you have a long hard look at yourself and the things you consider to be the definition of success in your life. I wont be following everything that is suggested but I think that was the entire point of the book-to take the parts that are relevant and that you can relate to and apply them in your life to make yourself happier and not to follow the crowd.

Absolutely worth the read!

“Fully experiencing life is the cornerstone of this adventure.” Love all the talk about labels, box’s, creatures of habit, and societies expectations. Nothing changes if nothing changes, but every day is a chance to start new.

I really struggled with this book for a number of reasons.

I couldn't work out what the book was, as it appeared to be part self help and part memoir of the journey of the author although neither had been done well.

Whereas we sometimes were given snippets of the author's story, which were interesting, there weren't enough to actually build up a picture of who they were, where they started their journey to mental wellbeing and where they were now.

As for the self-help side, there were a lot of ideas presented (none of which were new), lots of questions but there was no advice as to how to deal with the issues raised or even how such issues can manifest in your life. The author's general message was to create your own world, follow your own path, don't live according to the expectations of others and remove everything toxic from your life.

The author seemed embittered with the world (mainstream media, the business world, family expectations), which presented a rather negative feeling from the book. It bummed me out rather than motivating me to make changes.

This book seemed to take a lifetime to actually get going. The introduction just went on and on!
By the time the book got into the nitty gritty I had lost all interest.
I didn't enjoy the writing style, and I found it was lacking any substance.
I didn't get anything from this! Just felt frustrated!

Made me think. Loved this from start to finish. I will be recommending this to everyone I know. I did not want it to end.

How frustrating is it to be told by all the different sources the things you must do to be successful in life? This book definitely does NOT do that. It instead takes an empathetic approach and gives bite size approaches and allows you to have kindness and patience with yourself. This is so necessary for everyone to read in life. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Love. Love. Love. F*ck the Bucket List is such an enjoyable book. There was nothing revolutionary about the thought process for me, as I’ve been on this journey for a couple of years. But the positive, upbeat, and insightful conversational style is just a pleasure to read! It’s affirming and it’s provocative simultaneously. For those just starting out on a more personally meaningful journey, this book serves as inspiration to reimagine your happiness. It may very well serve as a vehicle for self-empowerment as you begin to deconstruct the framework you once accepted for your life. I suspect this book may resonate more with those 40-years-old and beyond, but there is something in it for the younger crowd as well. I look forward to more books by this author!

I loved this book. At first I was put off by the title, but I felt it was the right book to choose! I didn’t know what I was expecting, but I was engaged from start to finish. This sentence is key!
“There has to be something healthier that will make one whole and I am now ready to willing to open myself up to exploring and discovering it!”
How profound is that statement! Are you ready to being able to discover what is inside of yourself? This book has so much in it to take that I had to write down snippets and then go back and read that section again. I even read portions to my husband because so much pertains to what we are actually doing at this point in time of our own lives!

This book is truly a remarkable journey of self discovery at its truest form. The author doesn’t preach it, but just lays it out there and it’s up to you as the reader to take what words of guidance and apply it to your own lifestyle! Choices and decisions are up to you and only you! People forget that it’s their choice not another person but their own!

I definitely would recommend this book to anyone!

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.
