I really enjoyed the rich artwork in this funny and engaging book, perfect for reading in the lap of a parent. The repetition and rhythm of the story is off the chart and perfect to capture little people’s attention. Wonderful read aloud, that your family will want to revisit often.

Beautifully illustrated and quite fun picture book. But I wish there is more to this book :)
All in all it is not a bad read, I just expect more from it.

Really adored this book.
My little grandson who is five giggled his way through it. He loves the grinch and this has a similiar feel to it
The only problem I have is that there are a lot of single mothers whose kids dont have dads. So I would have preferred a different ending.
But that's just a personal thing and I'm sure not a real issue for others.

If you like fart books, you might enjoy this.

The Snark is a nicely illustrated, rhyming tale about a creature that lurks in the darkness, waiting to eat children. While the ending is reassuring (albeit somewhat insulting to dads), the build-up struck me as kind of scary. The monster is frightening, and some more sensitive children might not make it all the way to the end so they can see scary transform into silly. In that respect, I'm not sure how well this would work as a book for helping children overcome their fears; if they're too scared to read it, what's the point?

The blurb says this is told in "lyrical prose", but it's actually written in rhyming verse that does have a decent rhythm and some repeating refrains that are kind of fun.

I didn't love this, but I do think it could have an audience for certain kids... especially if they like to be scared.

This was the cutest book I have read in awhile. I loved the repetition of the Snark chorus. My five year old grandson laughed throughout the book. I would love to get this book for my library at school and a copy for at home. THis is a book that can be read over and over again and still get the same giggles out of the book like it is a first read. The story is great for elementary students. I love the illustrations are bright and colorful. The Snark is so adorable I would buy the stuffed animal to go along with the book.

The pictures were very colorful, but the story was not engaging. I imagine a lot of confused faces if I read this at story time. It was a good idea; just didn't land.

The illustrations are enjoyable and imaginative, but the rhyming scheme was like an overly repetitive chorus. The rhyming text doesn't start until the third page which seems inconsistent. It's worth noting for American readers that this is a British text, and some words are spelled with the British variant (favourite). It also mentions the Snark wanting tea which, in this case, refers to a meal, not a drink.

My son and I so enjoyed reading this book! It is written in rhyme, which is so wonderful for children. The illustrations are beautiful and set the mood very well.
It did remind me a bit of The Gruffalo, which is definitely a goos thing.
Would love to read other books by this author!

The Snark is coming...
A little boy runs through the house trying to escape the Snark, which he sees in the shadows, smells all around him and can hear his thundering footsteps.
With a similarity to The Gruffalo with rhyming text, repeated phrases and descriptions of the Snark, this is sure to be a hit with the youngest readers. Many children love a book with farts, smells and words about bottoms, so this ticks all those boxes and is guaranteed to have children giggling through the reading,
Superbly colourful and fun illustrations make this a delight to read and browse through.
I love the added bonus of drawing a monster at the end to take any monster under the bed fears away!

A very sweet, yet spooky book perfect for bedtimes!

Another great children's book by Justin Davis, The Snark helps children confront their fear of the unknown/the dark and other bedtime troubles. This book is filled with beautiful illustrations, fun lyrical prose, relatable characters, and ultimately helps children, and adults alike, to confront their fears. This is another book I would buy to read with my children, and I thank the folks at Blue Falcon Publishing for this book, and NetGalley for helping me discover it as well as Justin Davis's work in general.

The Snark is beautifully illustrated picture book about one boy's fear of a fictional monster. The story is told through rhyme and is lovely to read aloud. I think young children will enjoy the story and relate to being scared of the monsters at night! I think the story and the build-a-monster activity in the back could be very helpful for children needing to overcome their fears. The illustrations are outstanding - bright and expressive, they are engaging and really add to the storytelling.

This is soooooo cute and adorable 😍 the illustrations are so much fun.
The writing is in rime for a part and it’s easy to read.

I read this story to my niece before bed is she was so excited and happy with it I had to do it twice before she was going to sleep.

This is definitely an amazing book for kids 💕🙌🏻📖

Delightful little book about a boy and a night-time monster called Snark.
It is written as a poem and is slightly reminiscent of the Gruffalo. Excellent scary art work.
Would not mind it being longer. Added bonus are the “make a monster” pages at the back - working through fear by drawing monsters.
