Perfect read for Harry Potter fans – a thoroughly enjoyable read. The story follows four teenagers who travel into space to develop their powers, after the death of a blue-violet star around the time of their birth which interacts with their genes, heightening the powers within them. The book is filled with well-developed characters who are facing personal challenges and a story-line to match. Think Harry Potter and Star Wars – the perfect mix for a Young Adult fantasy read – but definitely not just a book for YA. Thank you to NetGalley for gifting me this in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. |
The death of a blue-violet star fifteen years ago saw solar winds carry charged particles to the ends of the galaxy, reaching the outer planet of Earth, and interacting with the genes of four newborns, and heightening the powers within them. It is later prophesized that a sleeper from an outer planet will help overthrow a great evil that threatens to destroy the seven planets that form the Galactic Alliance. The alliance, now under the shadow of a great evil, takes the teenagers out into space to determine who the sleeper is. It was a great book. Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book. |

This book wasn’t what I was expecting but did enjoy how much Aiden cares for his brother. The interaction with the other characters was interesting as well. It was a fascinating book but not sure if I will read again. |
I expected this to be a fast-paced, exciting YA novel. Instead, it turned out to be slow, boring, and dreary. How can any self-respecting teenager be expected to read this? The voice/narration of a fifteen-year-old should not sound like that of a middle-aged man. The writing is sloppy and filled with unnecessary descriptions (the World Cup, for example, which was totally unrelated to the main plot) and had many signs of an inexperienced author. If this wasn't an arc, I would've DNF'd this book within the first 5 pages. |
