I am not sure if this is from a series as Melody's sisters are married and it seemed like there was a story previous to this one but it was easy to read this as a stand alone. I would like to find if there are books about her sisters as Molly;s story seems pretty emotional and yet she got her HEA.

Back to Melody and Finn, they both were dealing with pain and hurt and really didn't want anyone around them but their loving family set them up to spend the week together then decided to crash the party.

I liked both Finn and Melody and it was fun to watch them interact and at times it got emotional as they were both dealing with tragedy. Melody really needed to learn to deal with her mother or cut her out of her life as the mother was pretty toxic and wrecked havoc in her daughter's lives.

Nice ending to wrap it up and fun that it was a holiday romance to get me in the spirit for the holidays!

It’s been two years since Victoria James has invited readers back to Shadow Creek, Montana. Snowed in with the Firefighter is the seventh book in the Shadow Creek, Montana series. However, the series was rebooted with the fifth book, The Firefighter’s Pretend Fiancée. I like to call this reboot/spin-off the Mayberry Sisters. It's not necessary to read all the books in the series. If you just start off with The Firefighter’s Pretend Fiancée, you will be fine and have the opportunity to meet all the Mayberry sisters and learn about their background.

Melody Mayberry is a character I really don't remember very much. Outside of her being the sister of the last two heroines and an OB/GYN, I don't remember her at all. Finn Matthews on the other hand has had my heart since The Firefighter’s Pretend Fiancée. My heart broke when at the end of the story he was injured and his fate was left in question.

It's been a little over a year since Finn’s accident. The last few months have found him isolating himself at his brother and sister-in-law's remote cabin, much to his family's displeasure. After being forced to take a vacation from the hospital where she works, Melody finds herself at Molly and Ben's cabin, not knowing that Finn is there as well. Can you say family set up? Melody and Finn end up spending several days together, where they get to know each other better and make decisions about their own lives.

Melody isn't one of my favorite characters. I had a really hard time relating to her and liking her. However, at the same time, it's difficult to judge someone when you haven't walked in their shoes. Melody is a product of her parents. Her father failed to protect her and her sisters from the verbal and mental abuse of their mother, who is just plain evil. Melody has spent her whole life being jealous and envious of her older sister Molly. When she let her walls down and opened up to Finn, I was able to get to know her and like her just a little. There were times when she and Finn were good together. He made her loosen up and embrace happiness that she never truly allowed herself to have. At the same time, I'm disappointed that the issue with the mother wasn’t fully addressed. Let's be honest, Melody and her sisters really need to sever all ties with their mother for their mental and emotional well being.

Snowed in with the Firefighter is a slow burn, sweet romance. The book needs a trigger warning. Melody is an OB/GYN, and not every case she sees is perfect or has a happy ending.

A lovely romance about two wounded souls trying to find their way forward in life, when everything they held dear in the past has fallen apart. I usually tend to get impatient with h/h who seem to be stuck in inertia between the past and the future, but these two characters stuck together over Christmas, tentatively reaching out to each other, daring to trust one baby step at a time, was endearing. Did not care for the last-minute, sorry we can't be together reversal; I think the story would have been more charming without it.

Short review.

A small town romance and two individuals who were dealing with life issues.

Finn, an injury he incurred as a firefighter. Dealing with rehab and the pain. Trying to find some solitude to possibly make some life changes.

Melody, a young doctor who is dealing with a tragic event that transpired under her watch. Needing some time alone to recoup and figure out what and how to deal with the outcome.

Both end up at a cabin that their family (big mixup from both sides, maybe 😉 or maybe not a mixup) set up for them to relax and rest at.

Well it's the Christmas season and the weather outside is frightful so they both decide to work on sharing the place. And during their stay together they get reacquainted and also decide to play a little bit of a joke on their family. They are going to pretend to have fallen in love.

This was an enjoyable read of two people struggling with life changing issues. They learn to communicate and trust each other with their secrets and hurts. It was a sweet and emotional read that was perfect for the Christmas season.

A little slow at times but a nice story and good pacing.

Thank you to the publisher and @netgalley for a copy of this book. This is book 7 of the series and I read it as a stand alone. This was a cute second chance romance. I liked how the book started with Mel and Finn tricked by their family. A fun holiday romance with lots of funny moments.

Such a fun holiday story. Two troubled souls find themselves and each other when they are snowed in. They are both hiding out from their real lives. Finn is fighting with coming to terms with his recent serious injury and the possibility of never fighting fires again. Dr. Melody is questioning why she became a doctor. Since their siblings have set them up at the cabin they decide to pretend to be in a relationship to get the "happy" people off their backs. What happens when the lines blur and you feel at home with the person who is pretending to like you? Sometime it takes another person to point out all the good in you when you are filled with self doubt. Great read!

Victoria James’ latest book in the Shadow Creek, Montana series, Snowed in with the Firefighter, is the perfect feel good Christmas story. With the coziness of a picturesque cabin in the snow to two characters who’ll surely steal your heart as they did mine. Having come into this series at the end of it, the author provided the perfect backstory in which to set the stage for Finn and Melody.

The hits and misses for Finn and Melody added to the overall dynamics that shaped their relationship. The adversities they each encountered separately, only set the stage for the journey they had to take separately as well as together. That journey had all the feels, leaving me with the takeaway of warmth and joy and the belief of a HEA.

Snowed in with the Firefighter!

Snowed in with the Firefighter by Victoria James is a wonderful story about two broken people finding themselves and love during the holiday season.

Finn is a firefighter who is recovering very slowly from a major injury he endured months ago, and he is hiding away at his brother and sister-in-lacks cabin trying to recover. He is determined to go back to firefighting with his brother, even though, he is having serious doubts that he will ever recover sufficiently to be reliable on the job. As he spends months in isolation, he is becoming more and more surly. Fighting his own demons while dealing with his painful injury.

Melody is a workaholic who spends all her time trying to be the best at everything. She recently broke down while performing a difficult delivery. She’s been told to take time off to regroup. Her sister suggests she goes to the cabin to get some relaxation.

Reading how Finn and Melody are “forced to embrace the holidays” while trying to avoid their growing attraction was such fun. The way the two help to encourage the other to move forward after their personal losses was wonderful. They really are made for each other!

“Everyone makes mistakes. It’s okay not be okay, Mel. It’s okay not to be perfect all the time. No one is. And who really likes perfect people anyway? They’re insufferable.”

This wasn't the first I read from this Author, but it was the first in this series. So, although this is the seveth book in the series, you can easily read it as a stand alone.
This was such a cute love story about Melody and Finn.
This was a short and sweet. I read it in one sitting over a cup of coffee. With about 160 pages this is a quick read.
Yes, Christamas and romance, and I was sold. But, of course nothing is perfect as it seams, because Melody is struggling with anxiety attacks, and Finn is trying to find himself, again.
Yes, maybe this book just scratched the surface, but it shows us how important is to have someone in your coner, either it is your significant other, a friend, a family member.
And I love that little lines - it is okey, not to be okey...because it really is.

This is a short story centered around two struggling individuals finding help and love in each other while stuck in a cabin during the holiday season. I have not read the other books in the series but was able to follow everything just fine.
I think Melody was a great character. Right from the first page I sympathized with her. I like that the reader gets to be inside her mind and see her personal dilemma. Finn is also dealing with his own life changing troubles. I think these two character's really balanced reach other out. They were able to lean on each other as well as learn from one another. Their personal journeys was endearing, realistic and beautiful to read about.
The romance that blossomed between the two was so heartwarming! This story is one you won't want to miss this holiday season! I would recommend reading this in a comfy spot since you'll read it all in one sitting!

Both characters are trying to be alone and away from their own troubles. Finn a firefighter was seriously injured while fighting a fire. Barely surviving, he is still having problems with his left leg. He also is worried about what his brother will think about him if he gives being a fireman. Knowing that their father died while fighting a fire has made everything real, now away at the cabin, he is hoping to heal body and mind.
Dr. Melody Mayberry thought her life was perfect but since she has made up with her sisters’ her life now at least for her is just question marks. How much did or does her mother control everything? Enter a death while she is the attending physician, for the parents of what was supposed to be a healthy baby. Instead, the baby died. She as the doctor is now questioning everything in her life. She leaves on a vacation to the cabin that is owned by her sister’s husband's family and the brother to Finn.
Arriving at the cabin she is surprised when Finn Mathews is there the one who turned her down when she asked him to the prom. Now wanting to leave she can’t. she can’t leave she can’t do yoga or meditate. What she can do is deal with her past in order to get over the future or the present. Just when you think everything is going well her mother calls and gets into her head and away, she goes again leaving Finn behind. Now if she wants a new life, she will have to fight for it. Read this good story with wonderful characters to find out what happens, including some mad monopoly games between the two of them. A very good book. What happens when a doctor and a firefighter are stuck together in a cabin while hiding away from their reality? The start of a romance story of course. This Christmas romance novel from the Shadow Creek, Montana series was short, sweet and adorable. I truly enjoyed reading it thanks to Entangled Publishing, NetGalley and the author for gifting me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A beautifully written tale of forgiveness, healing and redemption, Victoria James’ Snowed in with the Firefighter is a poignant, intense and emotional contemporary romance that is simply delightful.

For Dr Melody Mayberry, her career means absolutely everything to her. While her sisters seem to be settling down and building families of their own, Melody is perfectly happy being by herself. She doesn’t need anybody else, not when she has the career that she has worked so hard for. However, when one mistake ends up costing her absolutely everything, Melody’s perfectly ordered and perfunctory life is shattered into a million pieces. Desperately needing somewhere to hide and to lick her wounds and figure out what she is going to do next, Melody decides to hide out in a remote cabin in the woods far from civilization where she doesn’t need to see or speak to anyone. However, Melody gets the shock of her life when she opens the door to the cabin and finds a nearly naked man staring back at her. Worse, the man in question is none other than her high school crush, Finn Matthews, who has his own demons to contend with..

A serious accident had left Finn fighting for his life. The courageous firefighter had managed to beat the odds at the eleventh hour, but the road to recovery is fraught with pain, frustration and anguish. With his career in jeopardy, Finn doesn’t know what the future will hold and all he wants this holiday season is to be left alone without his friends and family’s pitying looks and well-meaning concern. So he isn’t best pleased when he finds out that he has a houseguest: Melody.

Being set up is the last thing either one of them want, but when they get a text from their family that they will be joining them on Christmas Eve, they realize that the best way to get their meddling relations off their back is by teaming up and putting on a united and cheerful front. Only, the more time they spend in each other’s company, the more they realize that there is nothing fake or put on about the joy they feel being together. Will a Christmas miracle provide these two lost souls with the happiness they have long given up hoping for? Dreams can come true during the holiday season – but only if you have the courage to take a leap of faith and a chance on love.

Victoria James’ Snowed In with the Firefighter touches the heart and lifts the spirit with a beguiling blend of intense emotion, delightful wit and uplifting romance. Finn and Melody are two wonderful characters whose tender love story will bring a tear to the eye and pluck at the heartstrings and have readers cheering them on their way to the happy ending which they so richly deserve.

A wonderfully told tale of hope, renewal and the power of love, Victoria James’ Snowed in with the Firefighter will go down a treat with contemporary romance fans.

Melody and Finn have watched their siblings fall in love and now after they each face a life-altering situation, they end up recuperating at the same remote cabin. They've always gotten along to please their siblings but up to now have had nothing in common. They find the ability to share their emotions, disappointments, and failings without fear of rejection. It frees them to truly understand each other.

But can they overcome their pasts to move into a future together? You'll want to read this one to find out. I'd rate it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Snowed in with the Firefighter is the seventh title in the Shadow Creek, Montana series, and the series is still as fresh, entertaining, and addicting as it was when I first walked into this world. It’s always a delight to return to Shadow Creek to see what new adventures are in store and to catch up a bit with old book friends along the way.

Finn and Melody have been set up by their loving, matchmaking prone siblings which only adds to the stress they each are feeling in their lives right now. Finn is still recovering from an injury that may well be the ending of the career he loves, being a firefighter. It’s been nearly a year now, his leg is healing but Finn is realizing that it may not be healing enough to allow him to continue with the job, the work that he loves.

Melody is second-guessing everything about her career when she delivers a stillborn baby. It’s the first time that anything this bad has gone wrong with one of her moms to be and it’s hitting her so hard – her own nasty piece of work mother doesn’t help with her own hurtful and harmful comments. Right now Melody only wants to escape, rethink her life choices, and not constantly think of the little one lost through no fault of anyone. The last thing she expected to find in this remote cabin was Finn.

Neither is looking for love but also not willing to give their siblings the satisfaction of an argument so… quiet moments, decorating the cabin for Christmas, space to heal and begin to open themselves up for something more will slowly develop as Melody and Finn also discover that they might not have been searching for love, but aren’t willing to turn their backs on the possibility either.

Snowed in with the Firefighter is what I’d consider a slow burn romance. Reluctant at first to even be in the same space together, this couple will find a way to get through the days and discover along the way that they can be happy again, that laughter isn’t gone forever, that life does indeed go on. This is a quick Christmas-y story that packs an emotional punch with believable characters dealing with real-life situations. I enjoyed myself back in this world once again, and if you love a good, solid romance with likable people, believable situations, and relatives who are unique… then you’d want to pick up Snowed in with the Firefighter soon.
