3 - "It’s okay to not be okay…" Stars.

We return to Shadow Creek for another visit, with Snowed in With the Firefighter giving us Melody and Finn’s story. It’s been a couple of years since the last book was released and I was a little foggy on this pair but that soon cleared once I started reading their story.

"You can just stay… I’m sure we won’t get in each other’s way. Plenty of room for both of us."

Firefighter Finn has been hiding out in a remote family cabin, nursing his mental health and recovering from the physical wounds that he sustained whilst out on a call almost a year ago. The solitude has given him a chance to get some of his strength back and start to come to terms with the fact that he may never be able to do the job he loves again. Melody turning up out of the blue a few weeks before Christmas upsets his equilibrium somewhat, especially when it becomes apparent she thought she would have the place to herself, and that their families are playing matchmakers on their behalf.

She reminded him of how good life could be… Somewhere along the way he’d forgotten that…

I liked this seasonal story, this is a couple that have a connection through family marriage, and also from growing up in a small town together. While Finn has worked through a lot of the things that bought him to the cabin in the first place, Melody is just starting to face up to hers. Together they balance out the other out and I enjoyed the story that played out between them. The drama in the last couple of chapters dulled the Christmassy edge a bit, but all-in-all it was an enjoyable return to Shadow Creek.

I thought that I was getting another her of series, but no worries I a was able to get in with story. We meet Dr, Melody Mayberry who life just changed and she is wondering and question everything in her life, did she make the right choice. She decides that she is going on a much needed getaway, but unfortunately for her she is finding out that she has a roomate in Finn who is her hottie brother-in-law which was so not what she was looking for. HOwever Finn feels exactly the same, he was looking to be alone and in peace while he deals with the some change in his life. Theyn they both get a surprise when they hear that their family is coming and to look like the are in the holiday spirit they get to gether and realized they are actually having a better time than thought

Interesting and quick holiday read. When Melody needs a break from the hospital after losing a baby during birth, she goes to her sister's cabin. What she finds is Finn, her sister's brother-in-law, who is recovering from issues of his own. The two were set up by their siblings of course, and yes, there are sparks. I like though that there is not a lot of sex here (don't mind some, but some books go way overboard). Talking and building a foundation seems a better choice. Didn't like her mother issues, or how quickly she decides without discussion. Other than that though, I liked this one and would highly recommend this book and author.

This was a charming holiday romance with heartwarming characters. They both are trying to get over a life-changing event. It was a short book, so it was easy to read in one sitting. The witty banter between the main characters added humor and interest to the book. I really enjoyed the book and felt like the characters were so realistic and easy to connect with. Dr. Melody Mayberry was an OBGYN and had just lost her first patient in the delivery room. She was devastated and had a hard time working after the loss. She was given time off to reevaluate and relax before continuing to work. Finn Matthews was a firefighter who had been injured during a fire while trying to rescue a child. His leg was still causing him a lot of pain and was not healing fast enough for him. He feared his leg would never be healed enough to return as a firefighter but that was his dream job and he felt lost without it. With some family intervention, they both end up in the family cabin before Christmas. Can two hurt people help each other heal and have a fake “happy” holiday?

I received an advance copy of, Snowed in with the Firefighter, by Victoria James. Dr. Melody Mayberry is hiding out, away from her toxic mother. Finn the firefighter is there too. Can he help Melody this winter season?
