⚔️❤️After success of "The dating charade" @melissaferguson has come up with this hilarious romcom. After a long time I read and enjoyed the funny & fussy, infuriating and goofy love story where both are at tug of war all the time!

⚔️❤️So basically Bree Leake gets unexpected opportunity of having her dream home of her grandma & professional offer and amidst her own conflicts she ends up having encounters with her annoying and unavoidable next door neighbour Chip Mcbride. She is ready to move heaven and earth to have him off her cul - de - sac and out of her life, but she's stuck and can't leave her house!

⚔️❤️I honestly took little time to get into the hang of the story on audio since the female voice only made male voice! But once Bree-Chip banter began,I could not stop myself! I mean who will think of romance the way they hated like enemies totally plotting against each other?! The side characters like Andy or Cassie or Bree's parents were likeable too.

⚔️❤️I recently had a soft and emotional angles on reading lovestories, so this enemies turned lovers with their innovative pranks was a goodread I enjoyed and the language is easy and funny. Epilogue was satisfactory too!

Bree and Chip have a meet-cute at the theatre where Bree is performing in A Midsummer Night's Dream. She looks for him in the audience and sees him with his girlfriend, so she sneaks out and goes home. Behind her is the most annoying truck in the world. They both drive to her quiet cul-de-sac, where the driver is, of course, Chip.

Bree has a hard time keeping a job, and Chip has just left his family business to start one of his own. Bree's housemate is crazy, wanting to go off the grid and take away things like electricity and WiFi. Because the house belonged to her grandmother, Bree is reluctant to leave despite less than ideal living conditions.

Bree and Chip enjoy torturing each other. His dog knocks her down; she makes him move his electric fence. He sends her crazy magazine subscriptions; she signs him up for email lists and leaves magazines about addiction on his porch for his girlfriend to see. Their "war" becomes increasingly ridiculous, like something you'd only see in a scripted TV show.

Keeping each other constantly in their thoughts leads them to realize their feelings of hatred are quite the opposite.

This book is a good diversion for people looking to step out of reality. Romance readers will be left wanting more, but fans of women's fiction will enjoy the relationship.

Funny, heartwarming enemies-to-loves romance which gave me the perfect distraction from life.

Oh gosh, what can I say? This audiobook was a blast. It was hilarious, relaxing and warm, exactly what I needed for the ultimate feel-good listening experience. If that's also where you're at, definitely give this audiobook a go.

The Cul-de-Sac War tells the story of Bree, a free spirit in love with theater who constantly moves for new jobs and adventures. But her parents are worried about her lifestyle, so they give her an irresistible offer: if she can stay in one place for a full year, she will receive her grandmother's house, which is what she has always wanted. So she takes a leap of faith and takes the offer, even though there's a very, VERY annoying next-door neighbor Chip whom she can't stand.

So Bree decided to simply to everything in her power to dirve Chip away from the neighborhood.

Clearly, this is a recipe for an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy, which I absolutely loved. I listened to the audiobook, which was a huge hit for me not only because the story is so joyful, but also because of the brilliant narration. It's a must-listen for any difficult times, or good times which could be made even better,

I love having both perspectives in a book like this. It really fleshes out the characters. I read the book and also listened to the audiobook and both were highly enjoyable.

I wanted to love this one and the first little bit seemed promising but it just didn't work for me. The characters are one dimensional and kind of annoying, the narrator was also a bit odd her male voices felt a bit forced.

A rom-com that will make you laugh until your side hurts!

The Cul-de-Sac War was one of the funniest and charming contemporary romance novels I have read all year! Clean and full of spirit, the characters were hysterical, and the plot a perfect pick-me-up! If this were a movie, it would be my choice for a girl's night or lazy day!

Bree Leake has never settled or known what she wanted. Having adorned many hats, it’s not until her grandmother leaves a part of her house to Bree that she starts to dream of a stable future. With a job at the local theatre, Bree’s life finally feels like it is falling into place, that is until she meets Chip McBride. While sparks flew at their meet-cute, things take a fiery turn when Chip moves into the fixer-upper next door. Caught in a war where both parties will go to the extreme to win, nothing is out of bounds; however, when their jobs and relationships are put in jeopardy, one of them will have to call a truce, but who will be the one to raise the white flag?

With the classic love-hate relationship, The Cul-de-Sac War meets How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Bree’s quirky personality — which reminded me a lot like Louisa Clark's from Me Before You — and Chip’s fierce competitive yet charming nature creates a match made in heaven.

At first, I didn’t think I would like this book as I felt like the hate-to-love scenario had already been done so often; however, I was hooked by the end of the first few pages. Laughing my way through each chapter until the wee hours of the night, I think this was the fasted book I’ve read all year, and honestly, I already want to reread it!

Side note: Is it strange that I pictured the characters speaking with British accents? Probably... Nevertheless, an author can only do so much to create a fictional world; it's up to the reader to fill in the pieces and use their imagination to interpret each scene in their mind.

This was my introduction to Melissa Ferguson, and it will not be the last book I read of hers. In a year surrounded by disappointment and uncertainty, this book's publication couldn't have come at a better time! If you're searching for a novel that will make you swoon, laugh, and feel as though you're watching a movie, The Cul-de-Sac War is perfect for you!

*Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a pre-release copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are entirely my own!

Bree is living in her grandmother’s house and wants so badly to have it permanently. The provision is to stick with her job for a year. Sticking with her theater job for a year will be challenging but not nearly so as her new neighbor next door, Chip. She hopes to drive him out of the neighborhood but as she plays pranks on him, he rallies to the task and gives right back. Their antics are so much fun, and it is not long until Chip proves he cares for Bree. Chip’s dog is a hoot, Bree’s parents love Chip and make it harder to drive him away. This book is a quick read with creative antics throughout and a warm romance between two driven people. Loved it!

A laugh out loud, romantic comedy. I enjoyed every aspect of the Cul-de-Sac War! The clear attraction from the start, followed by the misunderstandings that lead to all-out war were a perfect balance of tension and sweet fulfillment. There is plenty of backstory to both characters that adds an unexpected depth to the story as well. The supporting characters, especially the dog, add a lot of balance to the gamut of emotions experienced in this book. I found myself genuinely laughing at the antics of Bree and Chip and the cringe-worthy situations they found themselves in. Above all, I loved their ability to rise above it all and find what truly matters most. The narrator adds the perfect blend of voices and conveys the scenes in a way that transported me to the actual events. I love her ability to capture the essence of the story. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own, freely given.

The Cul-de-Sac War is my first book from author Melissa Ferguson. I would say it is a slow-burn that you need to stick with. I found parts of it kind of slow, but I am glad I stuck with it in the end, because it was a cute, enjoyable story.

Bree Leake and Chip McBride prove that sometimes it isn’t the first impression you have to worry about—it’s the second one that gets you. What follows is a delightful deluge of pranks, sabotage, and witty repartee tied together by the heartstrings that connect to turn a house into a home worth fighting for.

Kate Rudd is 5 stars!!! Iove her so much and have quite a few books narrated by her. In fact I've brought a book off audible simply because she was narrating it.

I really liked Chip. He gave me all the feels in this book. Bree.... If I'm honest I didn't particularly gel with her but enjoyed the story none the less.

This was so disappointing. The relationship between Chip and Bree was so odd, and the ultimatum from Bree's parents didn't even get introduced until 44%! As I was listening to the audiobook, I felt the narration sounded more like an 'audio description' monotone and didn't engage me at all. I was looking forward to an enemies becoming lovers plot and I didn't care enough for the characters to continue.
I hope other readers have a better experience.

The narrator of "The Cul-de-Sac War" by Melissa Ferguson is brilliant! I love the way she pulled you into the story right along with the actual words, I highly recommend the audiobook for those that listen to books or like me rarely listen to an audiobook.

Plot review: This'll be a quick review since I may come back once I have a paperback.

All right, I loved The Cul-de-Sac War by Melissa Ferguson, it was witty, humourous, romantic, and completely needed right now.

The way this rom-com ended was absolutely adorable. You must order it right away!

I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I received an arc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. SLOW BURN. I’m ALWAYS up for a hate to love romance, but this is just very immature and it felt hollow. There was no explanation why the main characters would like each other much less in a romantic way. Their constant pranks got old fast and I felt that the ‘conflict’ was just randomly thrown in as a plot device. However, I did like the dog and the silly interactions with the parents. The book had potential, but it wasn’t for me.
