I was hankering for a colonial-historical fiction, and what I got was an extremely well-written novel with a wonderful heroine! I love it when the main characters of books aren't the most beautiful, the best at everything, the most desired woman in the room. That gets old, really fast. This gal was plain and smart, and had courage. I liked the descriptions of the scenery, and the way the author handled the history of white settlers infiltrating what was Cherokee land - and had been for a long time. OVerall. a true gem!

My apologies; if I requested this book, it appears that due to family commitments I was not able to read it before the book was archived. I'm sorry it has lingered this long.
