So sweet! Love, love, love these illustrations! The message is so powerful, especially amidst a pandemic and a tumultuous election year. See the good. Look for the light. Take in God's love and acceptance. Look away from the devious, the evil, the skeptics and turn towards hope. LOVE!

Having just received this book to read and review it came at the perfect time. Having a 4 year old myself I read to him before bed.

The bright light and super scary darkness tells Gospel story of how the darkness can be scary sin, but our bright light is our faith in Jesus.
This is very adapt for our current situation within this pandemic. The world can be scary and dark but as long as we have faith in Jesus Christ he can be our light.

This book is perfect for young children and easy to understand.
I like the questions at the back and it's definitely something we will read again over the coming years and have discussions about.

I will be recommending this book to my children's youth group and to friends who's involved with Sunday Schools, and youth groups.

Telling the story of light and darkness in the Bible, this book tells the story of how God is the light and the darkness is afraid. I really like how the story of creation to redemption was depicted in these pages. And I like the message that trusting Jesus means we don't have to be scared.

I absolutely loved this book. It was such a wonderfully illustrated and beautifully told story of salvation. My own daughter struggles with being scared of the dark so this is the perfect book for her.

Review to be posted on blog/goodreads in a few days.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

A book that definitely went a different direction than I thought it would take. Then again, I just picked this book for the cover. :P My expectations based on the cover/title was that this would be a story just about a boy who faces the darkness of the night. Instead it is way beyond that and goes further than you would think. It is also about religion, about Jesus, about light and darkness, about the fight between light and darkness.

We see our boy be scared of the dark but then finds the bible. And so we see from the start Adam and Eve to the birth of Jesus and his death and resurrection. How dark always shows up and some people go into the dark (we see Moses and various other biblestories), but will always be beaten by the light that shines. I loved seeing the biblestories get illustrated and I love how the illustrator did it so well.

While I did love the message, I am Christian myself and I fully agree with the message that light will always beat the dark, and Jesus and his father are there for us when we feel alone and lost in the dark, I did feel like something was missing. The ending just felt a bit too weird to me. We go from a boy afraid of the dark in his home, showing us the wonderfulness of the bible to him being outside in a tent shining a light into the darkness. I think I would rather have seen him brave the darkness in his home first and then go camping. Or just skip the camping.

At the end of the book we get some extra pointers. Something to read, something to remember, and a few questions to think about. I liked that they were added.

The illustrations/art of this book was wonderful, I love the style.

All in all, with the exception of the jarring ending, I am very happy with this book. It is beautifully written and it speaks to me.
