This book was a lot funnier than I expected - it was well-written and complete. It was very enjoyable!

My Review: I was intrigued by the synopsis, I can't recall ever reading a book with a similar idea. To be honest I did struggle a bit with the morality within the story but I think that in the end it was handled well. With that said, I fell head over heels for Mark, I don't know how you couldn't. Brinkley on the other hand was a bit of a struggle for me, again more about the morality than anything. I did love the back and forth banter between the characters and the steam was definitely high heat. I do wish we could have seen more of a supportive friend group, they were there but not fully there, just kind of background furniture to move the story along. But all in all an enjoyable story, it was light and fluffy with a bit of an edge.

My Rating: I definitely struggled getting into this one but eventually the characters drew me into the story. I kind of wish they had been in a different situation so I could have really enjoyed them. I give this one a rating of Two Paws and a Stump Wag.

Another “hallmark” like movie. A meet que of the main characters later turns into crossed paths creating another enemies to
Lovers story.

I found this one to be an easy read. Reminded me of a Sally Thorne’s The Hating Game but not as good. The writing was easy and simple. I found the dialogue naive and very surface top. It left no depth to either character or their relationship throughout the book.

But if someone of looking for an easy beach read then this is it.

I love this kind of plot and while this one was good, it wasn’t as great as I was hoping for. Overall I enjoyed it but the chemistry just didn’t measure up to where I wanted it to be.

Revenge plots are my catnip so even though this can read like a couple of petty and immature adults to most people, I gobbled it up. They aren't wrong about the immaturity of the MCS; I just found the revenge for hire concept really fun.

Thanks to Gallery Books and Netgalley for my copy to review.

While this book was fun, sexy, and had it's entertaining moments, it also struggled to keep pace. The premise is one I would normally dive head first into and forget to come up for air but I could barely remember to pick this one up. Once it did pick up, it was great!

A revenge romance book that didn’t quite land. The idea of doing to others as we had been dumped was a fun premise. It was ok but then the end stop justifying the means.

This is a enemies to lovers rom-com that drew me in with it's premise. Brinkley tells everyone she's an administrative assistant at an insurance agency, but she really works for Heartbreak for Hire - a top secret agency which specializes in revenge. I thought this would be fun but ultimately it was a bit of a bummer. The chemistry was lacking and it all felt silly (but not in a good way). This one was not for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this arc in exchange for an honest review

This was such a cute funny romantic book. It is super fast paced. How fun would it to be to work at a revenge for hire kind of place?? Love that idea! I loved Brinkley and Mark's chemistry. I was so very sad when the book ended so abruptly, it definitely needed at least one more chapter or an epilogue. Highly recommend reading this!

I thought this was a pretty average romance. Average plot, average characters and didn’t really do anything new. I didn’t really care about the end result of their relationship and didn’t care how it ended.

“His hand brushed mine, and I looked up into his stormy eyes. “Have you liked many of your targets?” he asked. The elevator stopped, and the doors whooshed open. “Just one.”’

I was super surprised by this one ! I loved this group of scourged women, working for H4H helping other women destroy the men who has wronged them.

Brinkley. Love that name. But also loved her!

And Mark… her target turned enemy. He was 😍 with his dirty talk and sweater vests.

Don’t let this cover full you, this one has some 🔥!

Thanks you @gallerybooks and @netgalley for the copy!

This was so cute!! I loved this romance so much and the characters were just so wholesome! Ugh I cried at the end because I didn’t want to let the characters go.

Although not a book I will be ordering in my professional life, it is a title that I will be recommending in my personal life!

I have to say, Heartbreak for Hire had a kind of premise that immediately roped me in. While the romance plot didn’t necessarily meet my expectations, I really appreciated the storyline involving their work environment. The gendered issues this book brought up honestly kept me invested! Overall, a quick read, and added a book to my goal for the year. No regrets!

Heartbreak for Hire was a fun, quick read. I recommend this book if you enjoy a slow burn romance and books with strong female characters!

Hands down, this book was a total wreck. And man, I hate to say that about any novel because I know this is a work of love for someone, but "Heartbreak for Hire" was just plain B A D!

There's so much going on - bad job and break-up, crappy family dynamic, enemies to lovers, starving artist, mean girl boss, daddy issues -- JUST SO MUCH. And the kicker is, none of it's done well. I hate to be so harsh but dang, this was a wreck of a romance.

Oof. This was such a bad one. My eyes are hurting from rolling them so much! I seriously would only recommend this to someone I don’t like. Also, is this sponsored by Uber?! Not for me!

Female empowerment, rise up! Brinkley and crew are done with men messing with their lives and doing circumstances. When super chic boss talks about Heartbreak for Hire, a business meant to put men in their place, everything seems picture perfect. That is until men start being Heartbreakers. One man specifically, Markus, may even be aligned to give Brinkley a run for her money. But will she give up on female empowerment and her art dreams in exchange for a male? Or will she step up and show men who is boss?

Heartbreak for Hire is a new adventure that is perfect for fans of romantic comedies. Sonia nails the characters with detail and provides just enough about supporting characters. The setting and plot are believable and left me wanting more about the other girls involved.

Heartbreak for Hire opens with a unique and interesting premise: Four women who have been wronged personally and professionally by the men in their lives have been employed by a woman named Margot at her company Heartbreak for Hire that charges a premium to women looking for revenge or to have deserving men taken down a peg. I was drawn in by the synopsis and pretty cover.

Unfortunately I think the cover and synopsis ended up being the best part of this book. I wanted to stop reading 40% of the way through but was determined to finish it to see if any of the issues I had with the story were intentional choices that would lead to a satisfying conclusion. I had no such luck.

The worst part of this book was the honestly offensive stereotypes and misogyny. For a book about empowering women who were wronged the author certainly didn’t choose to write a single empowered or non-pathetic woman. Every single one of the Heartbreakers is still shattered and miserable years after what happened to them and Margot is just a toxic boss who promises them safety and says she is there for them but who is really just using them for profit and doesn’t care at all.

There were a number of predictable twists and turns in the book, but most seemed pretty pointless and didn’t drive the plot forward so much as attempt to plug gaping plot holes or bizarre character choices. Every time the plot twisted, I felt like the author abandoned at least 3 story or character leads, never to return or be explained. There were multiple characters that I genuinely couldn’t tell you a single thing about or why they needed to be in the story.

The sex scenes in the book were pretty good, but then one of the characters would open their mouth with incredibly awkward cringe-worthy dialogue and I would roll my eyes. I am normally a fan or tropes like instant attraction and enemies to lovers, but this pairing just didn’t work. They went from super intense hatred to hot sex they just couldn’t control and then back to pure hatred without much provocation or good reason.

This was just definitely not the right book for me, which was disappointing since I was genuinely interested in the idea it was built on.
