"The Gingerbread House" is a sweet and funny picture book about the secret life of Gingerbread men. The perfect read for Christmas!

I wish I could say I liked this one, but I find it really annoying when children's books are written in rhyme but the rhythm is off (as in this book) because it makes it terrible to read aloud. The fancy capital letters at the start of each page would make it hard for a child to read (as an adult I found some of them hard to decipher). The illustrations are also pretty so so. My full review appears on Weekend Notes.

The Gingerbread House by Laura Gia West was too cute! This is definitely going on my list of childrenโs books I need to collect for a future family.
The rhymes were catchy, the illustrations were perfect, and this would make such a fun holiday activity for kiddos! Baking gingerbread men, decorating gingerbread houses, and reading this lovely story!

This book is really hard for me to rate. There are parts of it that I genuinely love. And then there are parts of it that I really don't. I feel like the timing of the rhyming (๐) is off. I could feel the author searching for words and choosing to use words that didn't fit very well because they rhymed. Rhyming books I will say are some of the hardest to write for that very reason. There's a reason Dr Seuss made things up lol The pictures are gorgeous, and the general idea is also lovely. I just felt like technically speaking it could use some love. I also didn't like the fact that the writing would switch perspectives randomly. Overall I do think it's a really cute Christmas book for kids. Kids are not as judgmental as I am lol
Thank you #netgalley for allowing me to read this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

A sweet entertaining story that left my toddler talking about gingerbread people for days. I loved the illustrations and the simple story kept him entertained.

THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE by Laura Gia West brings a fun twist to the story of the gingerbreadman.
It was an entertaining read, with very cute illustrations.
I found the gingerbreadman quite sassy, which was funny and totally unexpected but most welcome in those dire times.
Make me want to bake christmas cookies ๐

This was such a cute picture book! My kids thought it was hilarious!

My toddler and I have enjoyed this over and over and over this holiday season! Thanks NetGalley for the advance read. Super cute, fun read!!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.
This is a cute picture book featuring a gingerbread man cookie who wants to run away - like gingerbread men are wont to do. With a gentle rhyme and fun pictures, you can learn how to entice your cookie to stay and not run away.

Thank you NetGalley for the advance digital reading copy of this book.
I did not care for the fact that the Gingerbread man would only come back next year if you built him a bigger and better house. I was also not a big fan of the fancy capital letters as they were quite hard to distinguish at times.
I really enjoyed that this book included multiple forms of dance from dabbing to the can-can. The illustrations were whimsical and fun. Overall a fun Christmas book.

Who is ready for Christmas?
The Gingerbread men surely are. And you?
The Gingerbread House, with illustrations of Christmas essentials and the redness spilled all over, is an X-mas read for kids. The book will excite children to build a gingerbread house for the Gingerbread man, because, hey, where else will the gingerbread man stay?
And what's a gingerbread house without other Christmas decorations?
Therefore, you'll find all the necessary Christmas cheers in this book in the form of illustrations- Santa, elves, snowman, reindeer, Christmas tree, presents, and also the Santa's sledge.
The poetic form of the sentences and the rhyming words used only make it the best read for little kids.
Grab this book for kids to prep them up for the upcoming festivity and cheer.

A nice and sweet bedtime story. My daughter really loved it and im gonna buy it for christmas. After reading this my daughter wanted to make her own gingerbread house and men.

This is a fun, modern take on the traditional gingerbread man story. The illustrations are beautiful, with lots of interesting details to pick out and talk about.
But, and itโs a big but, thereโs nothing more frustrating than faltering rhythm when reading aloud a book like this. The rhyming aspect is perfect, but time and again, I found the rhythm breaking down and spoiling the flow of the story. Itโs is such a shame, as Iโm certain this could have been avoided.
I also found the unusual font used for the capital letters completely unnecessary and extremely difficult to read. So much so, this is not a book I would give to a child to read for themselves.
My thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the digital review copy of this book.

Another holiday book to add to the classrooms!
The Gingerbread House is a humorous and fun read-aloud book with engaging illustrations that will delight readers.

The Gingerbread House by Laura Gia West is a delight. This story can become a tradition you read every year with a wonderful story and colorful illustrations it has what it takes to read year after year. It is a story about gingerbread men that come to life each Christmas time. This is their special magical story. It is a story full of wonder, laughs and joy perfect as a holiday story. Little ones to early elementary will enjoy this one. Enjoy the Gingerbread men as they dance around and have a wonderful time with a little rhyme too.

Overall, I felt this book was disappointing. The cover is spectacular so the interior artwork was quite the letdown. It mostly seemed like a jumble of clipart that had been thrown together. The text was mostly successful, but the rhyming scheme at times lacked flow. My toddler was completely unimpressed.

I thought this will be a regular fairy tales book about a gingerbread house, but nope, I was wrong. With rhymes infused modern fairy tale, this will surely lightened up your Christmas. You don't really need to go out to celebrate winter this year, but stay at home with gingerbread, inspired by this book!
A truly entertaining story about a gingerbread man who needs a house and what so ever.

This story just wasn't right for me. The cover is absolutely stunning and wish that this style of illustration was carried through the entire book. Some illustrations feel as if they are rushed or unfinished. While there was cute parts of the story, the storyline didn't seem to flow as well as I would hope for a childrens book and there were some parts I had to explain to my kids as they were confused.

This is a cute book with some wonderful, vibrant illustrations. I think the little ones ages 4 and up would enjoy the rhyming and the antics that the gingerbread man comes up with.
I do like the houses etc that are shown, they are cute and I would like to try my hand at one some day.
The only thing I don't like is the message that maybe "the gingerbread man would stay around if you just built the right house". The younger kids might think that this could really be true? That's my only problem with the book.
I can recommend this for a fun, original and brightly illustrated Christmas book for children ages 4 and up.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

The cover and gorgeous illustrations really draw you in. A fun quick bedtime story or story to share with the kids while baking cookies. The rhyming makes it easy for younger children to follow along and the illustrations are beautiful. Definitely a book to reach for during the holiday season and would give some great ideas for gingerbread house decorating.
