I loved this book. Camille is quick witted and intelligent. Tristan is struggling with his return from war. I loved that Camille is not your typical woman but working and Tristan supports her. I was immediately drawn into their conflict and story. I recommend!

Love the series! This is Tris and Camille story. About a childhood crush and a broken war hero. How after many years the two meet again and time and love has changed them. Beautifully written..

Tristan Tierney, Duke of Mercer and Lady Camille Elise Bellington are simply glorious characters. They trade glib barbs, they exchange scorching looks and genuinely cares for each other's well-being! To top it all, whenever they come together, ahh, smoking hot would be an understatement!

This is a novella, I desperately want more pages. Tristan, a scarred war hero and Camille, the botanist who loved him since forever, are one of my top 5 book couple in 2020. A five star-read.

Camille Bellington has loved Tristian Tierney since they were children. He is returned from the war and is now the Duke of Mercer. He is a guest her aunt’s holiday dinner. So is Camille’s intended. She is still in love with Tristan; Tristan is totally smitten with her; and Ridley, her intended, hasn’t a clue. From the moment at dinner when Tristan told the story of Camille and the swan, I was hooked. Why is Camille marrying Ridley? Just how is Tristan to win the independent woman?

Tristan has come back from the war emotionally damaged. His nightmares are horrific. He has been reclusive, worked on restoring the estate he inherited. Camille has a calming effect on him. Camille is happy and independent. She loves her plants and conservatory, and would love to be a member of the Botanical Society. The chemistry between these two is sizzling. Camille’s Aunt Bel and her friend Adelia, Countess Milburn, are scheming, gossipy, outspoken, funny, and absolutely loveable. They want Camille to find love and be happy. This a wonderful story, emotional, funny, and heartwarming, and it ends with a lovely epilogue where the reader smiles.

Chasing the Duke is a delightful Regency romance with engaging characters and a light-hearted plot set during the twelve days of Christmas. The pacing kept me enmeshed throughout the novella, and this is definitely a short one, but since the heroine has been infatuated with the hero from childhood, it isn’t an insta-love romance.

Lady Camille is the heroine, and she is a strong-willed young woman determined to succeed as a botanist, an unusual career choice in the Regency period. I enjoyed her character for the most part, and her loyalty to her family is admirable.

Tristan, Duke of Mercer is an amazing hero, and I quickly became vested with his character. He’s a tortured soul, recently returned from war with nightmares of what he’d seen and experienced. He believes he is unfit to become any woman’s husband. This type of hero is my favorite!

The romance simmers in the first part of the tale, but once it ignites into full flames, it is combustible. The sexual scenes will appeal to anyone who enjoys steamy romance. I truly wanted them to find their happy ending, and I loved how the hero follows our lovely heroine, determined to earn her love.

If you enjoy Regency romances with plenty of spice, and an intriguing plot, then you will love Chasing the Duke as much as I did. This is the first novel I have read by Ms. Sumner, and I will be looking for more. Happy reading!

This is a super cute quick read. Who doesn’t love brothers best friend books? Add in an English title and make it historical and you sold me on it.
The two main characters, Tristan and Camille, have so much sexual tension/love flowing between them that you can’t help falling in love yourself with the couple. I love the moment he understood his feelings for her and made a decision. This was swoon worthy.

Camille Bellington has always loved Tristan Tierney, the Duke of Mercer, and her brother’s best friend. However, realising that he will never marry, she has decided to marry another, to keep the family property and still work as a botanist. When Tristan is scarred from battle, he returns to find Camille betrothed and yet, when they meet again, it is difficult to deny their growing desires.
This was an entertaining if short read. I loved the dynamics between the couple and found that their interactions were both entertaining and intense. The one downside was that there was not enough dialogue between the couple, and I would have liked to have seen the relationship develop as it did seem a bit rushed. I particularly enjoyed Camille’s aunt who was so witty, dropping more than subtle hints.

This Christmas Historical Romance is charming. A strong, independent heroine and a tortured war hero. He is a Duke and she is having to go against the ton's society rules to save her aunt's property. She does what a girl has to do. Become betrothed to a titled gentleman out of duty.

Tristan is a Duke. He went to war to get away from a troubled family. Little did he know that his best friend's sister has been pining for him. Until now. His return reawakens the feelings that Camille has been harbouring. She is a done with chasing after the Duke though. He thinks himself incapable of love, but seeing Camille stirs feelings that he thought were myths. Will they see through pride and honour and allow themselves to be happy?

It's an ideal fun read for the festive season. Very enjoyable.

This is a charming holiday story which creatively ties into the 7th day of Christmas (swans-a-swimming) without seeming like a stretch. Camille is a great character - smart, determined, and headstrong. The fact that Tristan approves of and helps her advance her botany works makes you like him and forgive him for his initial teasing attitude toward her. The chemistry between these characters comes across so clearly in the writing that you can't see them ever being happy with anyone else (even though they fight this notion for much of the story). If you are looking for a short story to get you in the mood for the holiday season this is the book for you!

Tris and Camille - Chasing the Duke is rife with sexual tension and clever dialogue from the opening paragraph. When Camille encounters her long ago crush, Tristan, after his return from war, she’s determined to stop chasing him in her heart and move forward with her betrothed. However, their mutual attraction pulls them together again and again, and Camille must ask herself if the duke is worth chasing one more time.
Entertaining and sexy.

Chasing the Duke is a quick, witty, lighthearted read, but one I would recommend!
Lady Camille said she would never chase a man again, but due to circumstances she was willing to marry someone who best fit her families needs and she felt they eventually would suit.

The Duke of her Dreams, Tristan who was their family friend and her best friend returned and she was not going to change her mind because she made her decision.

The Duke had scars from the war and he couldn’t be anyone’s hero again, but Camille was so tempting!

The author has done a superb job in keeping the flow of the book moving and the characters are strong and that is why I would recommend this book to my friends.

This is Tris and Camille’s story. She loved him when they were kids. He went off to war. She grew up to be a beautiful intelligent woman. She must marry to save her family’s home. She gets engaged to someone else. He decides he wants her for his duchess. There are many twists and turns in their relationship. I loved the story.

Camille and Tristan were perfect together! The chemistry, because of their history, is scorching and I loved the banter.

I’ve been on a Regency/Historical Romance kick lately and this book did not disappoint.

I enjoyed reading this book because it had interesting characters and a good storyline. I read this book in a night and found it easy to follow. I do recommend that you read this book if you want light entertainment.

Okay. So I finished this book in one day. It was short but it didn’t leave an unsatisfied taste in my mouth like countless ‘too short’ books have before. I initially thought it was going to at least be somewhat centered around the holiday season but it was just a mere mention. So, no Netflix holiday movie for me, it seems!

All in all, it was a well-written book. Well thought out. The story was sweet even if there were parts that felt slightly rushed. Tristan showed me what an enigmatic character he was; slightly broken from the vestiges of battle, a little rough around the edges, but he was also sly and charming. He was initially painted as ‘rough around the edges’ but quickly softened when he finally felt a glimmer of true love.

Camille was brilliant, intellectually and otherwise. She was also feisty and driven - I had the sense that she was the type to go after whatever it was she wanted regardless of how often and how hard she tried to talk herself out of doing so. I enjoyed her as the book’s heroine but I really enjoyed Tristan’s character. I rooted for him from the first page and it had absolutely nothing to do with how delicious-looking he sounded, haha.

I have to minus one star for the mere fact that while I knew beforehand that they were going to end up getting together (I mean, come on), and enjoyed watching them get to that point, I really wanted to know what happened with Ridley. How did he take the letter she sent him? How did he feel? Was he pissed off? Cause I would have been. There was really no conflict in the tale; just a seemingly good old-fashioned feel-good romance.

However, kudos for introducing her as a female botanist who in that time was frowned down upon and looked at as absolutely ridiculous. All in all, I liked the book! There was just the right amount of cheese that it didn’t render the tale as vapid and boring towards the end.

I enjoyed the story line and premise of this book. I enjoyed the dynamics and chemistry between Camille and Tristan. I wish their characters had been developed a little more. It felt a little rushed, like there wasn't enough time to really see who they were. I think a little more time could have been spent on the characters backgrounds, especially on Camille and Tristan's relationship prior to the time period of the story. I thought the titles for each chapter were hilarious and a perfect fit for each chapter.

Camille, a well read botanist, grew up admiring and loving her brother's best friend, Tristan. But with him being eight years her senior, she was viewed as the annoying baby sister. Then Tristan left for war and it had been years since they last saw each other. Pushed back together, they cannot deny their growing attraction. However, Tristan is seen as a flirt and Camille is engaged, not because she loves her intended, but as a means to keep her beloved family estate running. While Camille tries her best to avoid Tristan, his attentions become more and more enticing until she realizes she has loved him all along.

This historical Regency novella is well written and the writing style is very descriptive, so the book needs to be read slowly as each sentence paints a picture. It's a challenge to get in to if you like to read fast, which I do. A friends to lovers trope and set in Yorkshire at Christmas time. As usual, with a lot of new historical romances being written these days, the heroine Camille is 'independent and modern in her thinking. The hero, Mercer, is a returned soldier and a Duke and has his own demons from the war. Unusual for the heir to a Dukedom to go to war - they usually didn't. There are many steamy sex scenes in the latter part of the story, after a slow burn start. I liked the H/h and they had lovely chemistry together.

The author needs to check one of the peerage websites so she can correct some of the titles her characters have. An unmarried woman is never referred to as Lady 'surname' - only Lady 'firstname'. (Camille, Isabel - who I assume was never married). The Countess of Milburn would have been referred to as Lady Milburn, not Countess Milburn. Then there was the Christmas tree. The author mentioned at the end that it wasn't introduced until the 1840's, and I wonder why she didn't just have them find a Yule log instead, which was the tradition at the time..

It's a nice pleasant read for Christmas and I thank NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me an e-arc in return for my opinion. 3.5 stars.

If you’re in the mood for a quick Regency romance, this will meet that mood. The plot isn’t that complicated and it all gets resolved rather easily.
