“You speak your thoughts so boldly. Is there nothing you are afraid of?”

“I am afraid of years from now looking back on my life and feeling the keenest of regret that I had not lived. Of never feeling again the way I feel with you.”

Revenge…that one constant thirst for revenge against those that caused harm to his first love is what has shaped Nicholas Ives, the Marquess of Rothbury, into the man he is today. Nicholas is playing the long game in his quest for vengeance, and in doing so, has developed quite the reputation for being a rake throughout the ton. This reputation is the very thing that has kept the eyes of those he means to ruin off his plan for retaliation…but when bumps into an intriguing “wallflower” by the name of Maryann FitzWilliam, Nicholas begins to wonder if he’s finally met someone who can bring life back to his long dead soul…if he’s ready to remove the mask and set aside his vengeance and replace it with a love worth forgiveness…

Miss Maryann FitzWilliam will not be forced to wed the odious man her parents have picked. Devising a plan with her fellow “wallflowers”, Maryann plots to be most sinful and starts a rumor that she was the innocent that the rakish Marquess of Rothbury stole kisses from after sneaking into her bedroom window. With the ton spreading the rumor, Maryann is confident that she will be free to live her life without the constraints of a husband. But the one thing Maryann hadn’t counted on was the Marquess actually sneaking into her bedroom…or the intense feelings she would develop for him…

Nicholas and Maryann’s story is a slow burn romance, and dearest reader, I so very much loved it! Heartfelt at times, soul crushing at others and so verra verra smexxy, Her Wicked Marquess is a must read for fans of this genre! Loved and highly recommend!

Nicolas has a taste for revenge. Almost nothing will get in his way. Maryann is the exception.
I loved Maryann's character so much. So knows what she wants and does not want for her future.
Her Wicked Marquess, is a book that I will be telling everyone about.

omg I am still chuckling about this one! Meet our heroine, Maryann. She's just the type we bibliophiles identify with--reads too much, has way too much imagination, and is sharp as a tack. Of course, she is the intended victim of one of those traditional arranged/forced/society marriages. She comes up with the perfect plan= get ruined, creating such a scandal that her disgusting intended will call things off. Our hero is the unwitting stooge... Nicholas, infamous rake. He has no idea what to do with Maryann and her schemes but goes along for the ride. Hilarious read, great love story, and I may just read it again.

Lady Maryann has thought up a way to stop her upcoming engagement by starting a scandalous rumor about herself. She never could have predicted what this would lead to! I enjoyed this book. I loved Maryann and liked Nicholas. I didn't like he could be so ruthless. He was just so focussed on revenge. Yet I like how his character has got many layers. The romance was a slow burn, which I like. I'm looking forward to the next book!

Lady Maryann is determined to stop her upcoming engagement of happening, she will do anything to succeed and when an opportunity presents itself she can't let it pass.

The most notorious rake, Nicolas, Marquess of Rothbury, is often mentioned in the scandal papers and what harm can it be to claim that he left her bedroom window one night. Creating rumors and ruin her reputation is the last anything expect from a reasonable and well mannered lady after all. She just have to convince the Marquees to go along.

Nicolas has returned to Engald with a plan to execute, the plan is driven by revenge and nothing will deter him from it. But Nicolas' revenge isn't harmless, he had made many powerful enemies who now believe Lady Maryann is someone important to him, thus puts her in danger.

Nicolas is very focused on his revenge, he has a reason for everything he does and Maryann's scheme is nothing he could predict. Maryann is strong willed, bookish and speaks her mind, something not many men find attractive. The romance between them was slowly build and it was very enjoyable to see how it affected them both.

I liked this book a lot. The plot was very intriguing, since Maryann is doing what most avoid, trying to get ruined or start a rumor that she did which is basically the same thing. I was curious about the events that brought Nicolas in the positon to avenge. The information is being slowly revealed in an interesting way. This story kept me invested in it from the very first page.

i was actually taking a break (like a month, not more) from historical romances, but who can say no to a Stacy Reid book?! Certainly not me and I'm so happy that I didn't. This book became instantly my favorite. The characters are amazing. Nicolas is the best book boyfriend that can ever exist and Maryann is the best friend that you didn't know you needed.
This is not a light story. Nicolas' back story is based on a shocking incident that to be honest, upset me and devastated me. But the strength that the main characters showed throughout the book, helped me keep reading and in the end I was really happy and excited with everything.
I believe the Sinful Wallflowers is gonna be my favorite series. The first book is awesome, the second one amazing, I just can't wait for the rest wallflowers to get their stories!!!

Her Wicked Marquess focuses on Nicholas and Maryann. Maryann is trying to escape an unwanted engagement and thinks Nicholas, a Marquess with a rakish reputation, is her ticket to freedom. Nicholas has put his personal life on hold to seek vengeance against the men who destroyed someone he loved. The closer Maryann gets to Nicholas, the more her life is in jeopardy, and Nicholas will do whatever it takes to protect her. With so many obstacles in their way, can Maryann and Nicholas find their happy ending?

Maryann is a fantastic protagonist! A self-proclaimed wallflower, Maryann is strong in her opinions and not willing to be a submissive wife. She yearns for the freedom to be herself and not who her parents and society expect her to be. She is a perceptive woman and an excellent judge of character as well. Nicholas puts up a convincing and rakish façade, and Maryanne is the only person to see through his disguise. She sees the kind and honorable man that Nicholas really is. Maryann is also the only one to recognize some of the scoundrels of the ton for what they really are.

Nicholas is smart, determined, and guilt-ridden. He blames himself for something that happened in the past and spends his present consumed with thoughts of revenge. Nicholas is a good man with a haunted past, and his selflessness stands in stark contrast to the selfish rake he presents to the ton. Of course, when he meets Maryann, everything changes. From his first meeting with Maryann, Nicholas is thrown off his guard, and the way he reacts to her is endearing. He fights his feelings, as does Maryann, but it’s impossible. The way he feels about her is romantic, intense, and wonderful!

The romance between Maryann and Nicholas is epic! It’s spicy and sweet, intense and playful, and so powerful. They are a well-matched pair who challenge each other, bring out the best in each other, and make each other feel things they never expected to feel. I think they give each other hope, and I loved watching them slowly grow closer. I also love that they developed a strong, layered relationship. They have meaningful conversations, enjoy each other’s company, and listen to each other. In the same token, their desire is intense, and their romantic moments are steamy! I enjoyed their witty banter and flirtatious antics as much as I enjoyed their swoon-worthy romance.

Both Maryann and Nicholas reject the expectations and rules of the ton and want more in their lives than the gossipy hypocrisy they experience among their peers. There are great messages throughout the book about good vs. evil, the abuse of power, the unbending societal rules, and the gender inequities of the time. Additionally, several unexpected twists surprised me, especially toward the end of the book. I like that, just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, new revelations and obstacles unfolded.

I loved Her Wicked Marquess! It has great characters, a swoon-tastic romance, and a little bit of intrigue. Though this is the second book in a series, it can easily be read as a standalone and will appeal to readers who enjoy swoon-worthy historical romances with a HEA. Thanks so much to Entangled Publishing and the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

WOW! I really enjoyed this story, the second book by Ms. Reid that I've read (I already bought several others which are now in my TBR pile).

*Mild spoilers ahead. You've been warned.*

This is the story of Maryann and Nicholas. Maryann is everything I love to see in a heroine: smart, well spoken, kind and willing to stand up for what she believes to be right. She used to be a darling of the ton but didn't have the cruel streak to stay in the Mean Girls Club, and alas, she is deemed a wallflower. Her parents worry that she hasn't married and is nearing her mid-20's, so they arrange a marriage to an older man who is downright awful (has affairs with whomever he pleases and doesn't try to hide it from her; although, he does appreciate her brain which was an odd redeeming quality). Maryann is desperate to escape this marriage as she seeks a union filled with love or at least an amiable relationship. And enter Nicholas...

Nicholas is on a revenge quest as a woman he was friends with and loved (like a sister although he doesn't understand that until much later on in our story) after she was brutally raped and committed suicide because of said rape. He is on a quest to punish her rapists (there were several) and this is his driving focus throughout the story. He runs into Maryann as he thinks her brother is one of said rapists and although he knows he should stay away from her, their chemistry makes it impossible to.

I really enjoyed this story even though it is a trope I've read a few times before. The pacing felt appropriate, the chemistry between the lovers was hot and there was a satisfying resolution to their adventure. If you like steamy romances with complex characters, I definitely recommend you pick this up.

**Side note: I love, love, LOVE epilogues and wish there was more to this (and every other) one. Please, please, please add more to these stories authors! We grow to love your characters and want to know what happens in their HEA after their main story has wrapped.**

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Stacy Reid has this magical way of giving her characters such compelling flaws and histories that I can't stop. I just can't stop. I loved Nicolas and Maryann. I thought her innocence in combination with her determination and grit were just so great to read and watch change. I thought that their growth and fun together was warm and made me want to just keep reading. I sink into these stories and love them more with every book.

I've read many of Stacy Reid's wonderful books and I must say, this is one of her best! There is so much heart and emotion in her writing of this story. The two main characters, Maryann and Nicolas, now have a special place in my heart. Two souls who find each other amidst danger and revenge.

Nicolas has only one thing on his mind....revenge on those who had committed an atrocious act on a young woman he had grew up with and loved. Bringing ruin to these men is all he cares about. Until a Wallflower named Maryann catches his eye and he can't help but be completely amazed by her, her daring, her heat, her intelligence and her innocence. He needs to stay away from her, though, because his enemies will target her if they know they are involved. Easier said than done!! I really did love everything about this story!

I was really looking forward to reading Her Wicked Marquess by Stacy Reid. I even anticipated adding this author to my list of go-to historical romance authors, so imagine my disappointment in what ended up being a 2-star read for me.

I do want to mention the potential this book had. Obviously the synopsis intrigued me, and Maryann and Nicolas could have been so great. Maryann especially was a type of heroine that I usually adore. Unfortunately, this story and characters did not work for me.

Maryann herself was quite annoying. Her inner dialogue as well as her spoken words and phrasing made me cringe or roll my eyes more often than not. Based on that and her immaturity about certain things, I felt her age seemed closer to 18 than 23. Nicolas barely captured my attention at all, and I certainly had no interest in the secondary characters.

Furthermore, I sensed zero connection and chemistry between Nicolas and Maryann for over half of the book. The conversations and encounters between them were stilted and awkward (as was the case for conversations and encounters between all the characters in general).

It wasn't until the 75% (probably closer to 80%) mark that I started feeling some connection between Maryann and Nicolas and interest in Nicolas' revenge scheme. At that point, it was too little too late, although it did bring the story from 1 star to 2.

I had such great hopes for this book and author, but I guess I should have stuck with my tried-and-trues.

I started this on a whim last night and I read it all the way through. Here's to books that keep me reading into the wee hours of the morning knowing my alarm will go off soon! Her Wicked Marquess is the kind of romance I love. I admit that a reformed rake, or one who's just pretending to be one, is one of my favorite archtypes. Pair that with a wallflower and I'm so there.

While this book was a bit more explicit that what I usually read, I actually think the author did an excellent job at developing Maryann's and Nicolas' relationship. It felt like an actual romance and not instalove. The enemies to friends to lovers theme is presented in such a way that it's believable but also sensual as heck and this is sans the love scenes.

That said, I knocked a star off this book just because I felt like the revenge subplot was a little clunky. Maryann's brother could have literally saved lives and tons of heartache if he had just spilled his HUGE secret before the last few chapters. He wasn't cold or unfeeling, so I don't think it fit with his character. I absolutely did not see that plot twist at the end coming, but still, after mulling this book over, that's the thing I found most unbelievable.

I definitely will be reading more books from this author and plan on picking up the first book in this series on my Kindle app!

Stacy Reid became my newest obsession this year! One weekend I managed to read 3 of her books. While I think this is an excellent read & a great addition to her catalog, it was not my favorite. Usually Reid has me hooked on page 1 and I can’t seem to put the book down till I’m done, however, this one took a bit more persistence. Still a great read that I can’t wait to share & talk about!

Let me start by saying Stacy Reid is one of my favorites! However, there is no however. I enjoyed this story so much! Maryann is such a strong lady and stands up for herself and her Wallflower friends. Then you have Nicholas (sigh). Such a great heart wrenching story! Loved it from the first page. If I could give it 10 stars I would!!

4.5/5
Stacy Reid does it again with this new addition to her Sinful Wallflowers series! I loved both the hero and heroine of the novel more than I can say. Maryanne is strong and opinionated; Nicolas is clever and complicated. This story is more than just a romance but also a mystery. Nicolas seeks revenge for the rape of his childhood sweetheart, and that leads him to Maryanne’s brother and Maryanne herself. After the unusual circumstances of their meeting, Nicolas becomes infatuated with a woman determined to ruin herself before marriage to a man she does not love—a man not even bothering to court her! She however is already well aware of Nicolas, a most charming rake. But when their names are linked and plans are compromised, they find each other most unlikely companions and confidants. Truly a story about a couple destined to fall in love. Absolutely well matched! I couldn’t help but fall in love with them both.

This is an ARC for me so there were a surprising number of spelling errors and perhaps autocorrections in the beginning which will hopefully be fixed. I loved the epilogue but I was hoping for more with his family—Reid really keeps us waiting til the end! Nevertheless the happily ever after was perfect. It was a ton of drama so my anxiety was all over the place for a while so I’m glad for a resolution! Highly recommend this for historical romance lovers everywhere!

It could be a bit triggering for rape victims but this is dealt with in the broadest of terms except for a very poetic letter that may be a bit too evocative for the sensitive reader. There is no description of the act itself. HOWEVER, that is not to say there isn’t sex in this book because good lord is it steamy in here or is it just me? Wowzers!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If you like your historical romance with a big dose of a revenge plot then this is the book for you.

Our heroine, Maryann, is a wallflower, at age 23 her options are running out. After becoming betrothed to an odious earl of her parent's choosing she decides to take fate into her own hands and spreads a rumor to ruin herself and hopefully end her betrothal.

Nicholas St. Ives, the Marquess of Rothbury, is the target of Maryann's scheme. He has an agenda of his own, trying to revenge the death of a friend. But after getting to know Maryann (by climbing into her bedroom); he realizes she is special and tries to somehow pull off his revenge plot and love her at the same time.

Thoroughly delicious historical romance.

Stacy Reid is a new to me author. I have read a few of her books over the last few months and have found them to be enjoyable, entertaining books. He main characters are not the same cookie cutter characters you will find in other books. They have substance and depth. I enjoyed this book and couple. They were a delight. Now I would like to read a book about Crispin and his lovely bride.

Stacy Reid does not disappoint! Her Wicked Marquess is a deliciously romantic and captivatingly witty hard to put down book. It is the story of Nicolas St. Ives, the Marquess of Rothbury, who devotes his life to seeing justice is served for harm done to his friend. He comes across Miss MaryAnn Fitzwilliam, a wallflower, that is chatty, opinionated, and looking to be ruined. What do you get when you mix an extremely handsome lord with an understated beauty? It is pure dynamite! I would definitely recommend this book!

I was given this book by Netgalley for an honest review. They in no way influenced my opinions.

5 huge glowing stars

In Her Wicked Marquess a yummy, kind-hearted, loyal and dangerous alpha male marquess meets a daring, bookish, loyal and courageous heroine. Their relationship is a case of opposites attract, but what they find it that they actually have a lot in common.

This historical romance is chock full of ferocity, intrigue, scandal, delicious sexy times and all around goodness. I loved EVERYTHING about it. So much so that I’m about to read it again, from the beginning- truth!
