Lyndi is a female born dragon and knows what’s in store for her. She’s independent, head strong, stubborn, but she still cares.

Levi knows that Lyndi is his from the start. However nothing he does is the right thing. Constantly hitting heads, she feels he’s over bearing and a jerk, he knows she does care for him and is standoffish.

When Levi is called to his kings side and danger closes in they will have to figure out their stuff or be In Danger of losing something special.

It was good and interesting. Like it a lot!

4.5 stars - This was another engrossing read! I love that the heroine, a female born red dragon, who thought she’d only be used as a political pawn gets the opportunity to have such a transformative storyline. This book was different than I expected though. I believe there is still one Phoenix sister yet to be mated, and I was expecting her story next. I’m not complaining, this was a very nice read, just not what I expected.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was another win for me by Abigail Owen. This is the 4th book in the series and the best one so far! I couldn't put it down once I started it, absolutely loved it. Been wanting a book about Levi and Lydia since we met them earlier in the series, wasn't let down at all. Highly recommend this series for anyone that likes Dragon shifter romance.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, voluntarily read and reviewed all opinions are my own.

This one is easily the best book in this series!

It still has the same old feel as the others, pretty much going rogue and defying the alliance, but it also has it’s own feel too.

Lyndi is a female born dragon which means, to society, all she is good for is political moves or helping raise her brothers’ children. Neither are an option for her because she refuses it. It is her life, her fate, and she will do damn well as she pleases.

Levi has known Lyndi for 200 years now and since day 1 he has wanted her. She rebuffed him on that day and has since. Common miscommunication at it’s best. Usually that makes me angry in a story, and while they’ve bickered enough, they don’t truly hold it against each other. They don’t throw it in each other’s faces like other stories would play out.

Levi has been called back to his clan by the new Gold King, Brand Astarot. He has 1 week to convince Lyndi to be his and wait for him to come back to her. Of course there are other powers at play here. The Alaz enforcer team is problem number one. Their leader, Tineen, has taken it upon himself to bring down the Huracan enforcers any way possible. What he doesn’t realize is that the Huracan’s have essentially gone rogue so they think like a rogue. They know how to plan for almost all instances.

I felt like this specific story would change the course of the Dragons and it certainly did that! Lyndi and Levi have great chemistry and Levi is just so swoon worthy!
His intentions seem way more pure than any of the other enforcers which makes this more believable.

I did see the ending coming but in a good way. Mostly one that ensure that happy ending! But what I’m most excited about is Rune’s story! Who doesn’t love an outlaw with a good heart!?

This one wasn't a favorite of mine in the series. Where I didn't mind the political aspects of the other books, this one just had too much for me. I don't know...I just wasn't feeling it here. What I did really like is that the team still treats Finn as the leader. Which was something I was hoping for with how the last book ended.

Levi is being called back by his new king to fight the war going on on the other side of the world. He has a week (I think) to get there. Then there's Lyndi. Being born a female dragon, she always knew that the only value on her life would be a political marriage. But she never would have thought it would be to who comes to claim her. It's these situations that have Levi and Lyndi finally acknowledging their feelings for each other. Feelings that have been misunderstood for over a century. Their first encounter had Levi fleeing because of his dragon's strong desire to claim Lyndi, which left Lyndi thinking that Levi was snubbing her because she was female. So for all of those years both of these two have thought that the other has hated them. When they finally come together, Levi knows exactly what he wants for his future. But Lyndi fights it because she doesn't want to be the one to take Levi away from his true mate. Too bad for her, Levi is determined to get what he wants no matter what. Because of Lyndi's horrid engagement, a plan has to be made in order to protect her and all of the orphans that she has taken in. The consequences of this plan could be disastrous if found out before they get to safety, but it's chance they all have to take.

Adding to the problems of those two is the fact that some other group of dragons is going around starting fires and attacking other dragons all while setting it up to look like it's the Huracan team doing it. As if the team isn't already under enough suspicion. So there's that to deal with too, and the ones behind it really doesn't come as a surprise.

I liked how everything all went down at the end with their enemies. And while one thing that happened with Lyndi was super predictable, another thing wasn't so much and was actually pretty neat.

According the series summary, this should be the last book of this one. Which is really too bad because I would have loved to get a book with Rivin and Keighan. But it also seems like a really odd place to end things with this team.

I really liked the heroine, she’s strong, determined to help the orphans who are rejected by the clans before turning rogues and executed, and without realizing she's made herself a big family with them. After a misunderstanding on the day they first met, she believes Levi despises her for her birth, and she protects herself by being in opposition with him every chance she has. When she learns the American council has decided to mate her with the chief of another enforcers’ team and dismantle her group of orphans, she’s peeved, but she’s not deterred and decides of a plan to help her save her protégés and herself.

Levi is a male alpha hero who, from their first meeting, is attracted to the heroine, but as she’s keeping him at arm’s length he only desires her from afar and tries to protect her – which Lyndi always interprets as a lack of trust in her abilities. As soon as he sees a crack in the heroine’s wall, he acts, and if he’s quite domineering during the love scenes, the rest of the time he respects her skills and her opinion, to Lyndi’s surprise (clearly she never really thought about it because the guy doesn’t seem to force himself to respect her, so he already acted like this before). He’s quickly torn between his duty for his king who called for his help, and his desire to solidify his mating with Lyndi.

Between them the attraction is present but snuffed from their meeting a loooooong time ago, and when they take the leap she’s determined not to yield too much to her attraction because she thinks he’s allowed to wait for his fated mate. The fact she’s dragon-born, and so sterile, has her take decisions “for Levi’s sake” that annoyed me as much as when it’s a hero doing it. She takes a long time to finally accept it, and that irked me a little.

What I especially love with this author is the fact we really the dragons (I won’t fangirl again, but dragon shifters well used that’s hot stuff!). Here there are lots of scenes where characters use their animal form, and several scenes of aerial battle quite gripping. However the plot takes time to really begin, and some points weren’t clear even if I read the other series. But above all big rant: I hate when an author kills a supporting character, whether it’s useful or not (and here it isn’t).
Everyone’s abilities are clearly used and there’s an unexpected twist which intensifies our couple’s HEA, opening the way for characters seen in the other series.

All in all I really liked this novel in spite of the points I noted, and I just have to read the previous volumes before the publication of the next in the parallel series in March 2021.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

This series is always so good that I can't put it down! In the Protector, Levi and Lyndi have been fighting their attraction to each other for over 200 years! How did they manage to hold out??!

When Levi is recalled to his home by his king, he finally decides not to waste any more time - a week!

Lot of drama, romance, and intrigue in this book as they continue to fight the corrupt side of the Alliance and its followers. Things are continually changing from the old "rules" so there a few surprises in this book!

I loved the epilogue where we see Rune and so glad that he is finally getting his story after first appearance seeming like the bad guy to saving the new mates from being cruelly used by other dragons.

So looking forward to the next book!!

FINALLY! This book was a long time coming. We have known Lyndi since the start. She's the adopted mother of a bunch of rambunctious orphan dragon shifters who is channeling her inability to have kids or mate into raising these guys right.

We join the "crew" as they continue to battle their rivals and try to stay under the radar for the Alliance. That is deemed impossible when Levi gets called back to participate in the kings war going on in parallel. It's this news that gets him to act on his undeniable pull towards the prickly Lyndi. This book is different in that attraction is never an issue. It's all about the relationship part that seems impossible to one or both of them.

Of course, nothing is ever easy and there is drama that continues to try pulling the team, Lyndi and Levi, and the orphans apart. Things are changing in their world when it comes to mating and as the Kings accept the changes, it appears the Alliance is living in the past. There's battles, losses, and love peppered throughout this book that made it hard to put down. I'm happy we get a good HEA for the mother of the group and can't wait to see what happens next.

I really enjoyed this book. One thing I appreciate by the author is that you can pick up any of the books in these series and follow it; reading prior stories is an enhancement but not a requirement. Enjoyed the relationship building between Lyndi and Levi, although I would like to read one of these stories as a slow burn rather than steamy. Very curious what happens in the next book! 4.5/5 stars.

THE PROTECTOR is the fourth book in the Fire's Edge series, but some of the characters cross over from the Inferno Rising series. I haven't read any of the previous Fire's Edge stories, but I have read Inferno Rising. This meant I was able to follow the story quite easily although, that being said, I do want to read the others, simply because I loved how Ms. Owen puts together her stories.

Levi has wanted Lyndi since the first time he saw her, much to his confusion. His dragon laid claim to her, even though dragons can only have human mates... can't they? Lyndi is fascinated by the gold dragon and wants to hate him because she knows as a female-born dragon, she can offer him nothing. For two hundred years, these two have been dancing around each other, but now Levi has been ordered to return to the Gold Clan and may never see Lyndi again. This proves just the thing to spur them both on.

This is a fast-paced and intricate book, with plenty going on and not just between Levi and Lyndi. There are orphans, wars, clans, rogues... and not all of it I understood. This is simply my lack of knowledge of the previous books, not any problem with the storytelling of this one.

There was one part where I was glad I hadn't read any of the others because it tore me to pieces anyway. Such a brave green dragon, and I'm not saying more than that!

This was a fantastic read that I thoroughly enjoyed, have no hesitation in recommending, and I really, REALLY want to read the others now. So, if you'll excuse me, I have books to buy... 😁

What can I say about a book that literally embodies everything I love in a PNR? The only thing that comes to mind is, "OMG!" and "I want MORE!". No really. I. Want. MORE!!!!

Ms. Owen has had me salivating over her books ever since I picked up her first dragon shifter novel, and she's still keeping me begging for more. The way she brings these shifter worlds alive, intertwining previous series with the current, has me fantasizing, dreaming that "I" lived within it. I truly wish I was a dragon....or maybe even one of the human mates. It really doesn't matter. I just want "in". LOL

Ok, enough about me....

Levi is the beta enforcer for the Hurricans. He's always been the protector of not only his family, but the humans they vowed to look after. But he's been keeping a secret. A secret that he's held in for 200 years. You heard me. 200 years!!!!!! It finally time to confess, but his timing couldn't be worse. Now, he needs to set things in motion, before it's too late.

Lyndi is a female-born dragon. Ever since she followed her brother and became a "family member" to the Hurricans, she had to prove her worth. What better way than helping all of the orphan shifters, right? Sounds like she's done a pretty good job over the years. Now if she can just prove to herself that she doesn't have feelings for a certain gold dragon...

Nothing like a life changing event to kick start the heart, right? That's exactly what these two are faced with, yet pull together to weather the storm. Just like the other books in this series, there will be twists and turns and lots of feel good moments. Every time I pick up one of these books, I fall deeper in love with these characters....don't make it stop!!!

5/5 stars

Lyndi and Levi's story is finally here and was so sweet, sexy and full of dragon action. Finally, we get to see a female dragon story! First, I loved that this was a slow burn since the characters knew each other for years, but it didn't feel like it since we come in at the turning point. Second, you don't have to wait long for the sexy times with this fated mates story. Lyndi and Levi had good chemistry as well as steamy scenes. I really enjoyed seeing their interactions within the enforcer team and as a new couple. I loved being able to have both points of view from how they met and throughout the story. It really added something more to the romance to know what each character was feeling or thinking. Also, I can't forget to mention all the extra moment's with Lyndi's boys, the young orphaned and rogue dragons. It added another layer of family, feels and togetherness in the story on top of the close ties within the Huracan crew. The story and plot itself was so well done that I couldn't be sure how it would end exactly, other than the happy ever after part. Overall, I loved this female dragon, fated mates story which is my favorite of the Fire's Edge series so far. Lyndi's and Levi's romance was well written and worth the wait. I just hope it won't be the last we see of female dragons in this world. Hint hint. I'd instabuy a spin off female dragon series! But for now, I'll settle for another sexy, fated mated story in this series.

*Thank you so much to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love any story with shifters, but this is my first about dragon shifters. I loved the characters. The world they live in is very complicated but that is what is so fascinating. Now I have to go and read the previous books!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Alls I can say is wow. I was taken on an amazing journey I was pulled in from the first page. The characters were intriguing and captivating. The storyline was creatively written and engaging. Now I’m going to have to go back and start from the beginning I can’t wait. If you love series as much as I do give this one a try.

If you love sexy paranormal romances then Abigail Owen’s latest story will tick all your boxes. Set largely in the present day but in a very different world to the one we are familiar with, this story is filled with lushly coloured dragon shifters that ooze sexuality with their every sleek move.
I loved Levi and Lyndi, the heroes of this tale. Each is strong and powerful in their own right, Levi always ready to protect his clan against danger and Lyndi protecting in her own way as she gathers in orphan shifters and raises them safely.
The story is fast-paced partly because of the strong sexual tension between Levi and Lyndi and partly because of the raging clan wars that provide the second storyline. I found the setting intriguing and was impressed with this author’s imagitation in bringing together all the elements of this other worldly novel to provide a truly entertaining story.

The Protector is the fifth book in Abigail Owen’s Fire’s Edge series and readers finally get Levi and Lyndi’s story. As with previous stories, this one is jam-packed with danger, suspense and swoon-worthy Dragons. A well-written and intense storyline creates an exciting backdrop for this edge of your seat thrill ride, but the author also delves into the is also the importance of strong familial bonds, the impact of Dragon politics, and ongoing war and the strength of character required to navigate all this and still find love. Another fabulous story that is sure to capture the reader’s heart.

This is my first experience with the Fire's Edge series by Abigail Owen. I have all the rest of the books but opted to start here (which is unusual for me. I'm generally a strict "start from book one of a series" girl). Lyndi and Levi blew me away. Both are strong and so into each other but avoided each other for completely different reasons. With the war coming, Levi is called home to his Gold Dragon king and, while the timing stinks, he has to let Lyndi know how he feels. When he discovers she feels the same way, time is running out to convince her that she's his destined mate.

I love the dynamics between Lyndi and Levi. Their relationship is turbulent and Lyndi has a hard time accepting anyone would want her as mate for anything besides a political means. As a female-born shifter, there are many things she can't do that a human-born mate can. This pushes Lyndi away from Levi for hundreds of years. When Levi is called back home and Lyndi directly threatened by the enemy, Levi makes a choice - one that may come back to bite him but as long as Lyndi is safe he throws caution to the wind.

This book is full of action, suspense, and romance. There are several storylines woven throughout the book and the author did a wonderful job threading them around Lyndi and Levi. There isn't a ton a backstory, and of course, I missed everything that lead to The Protector, but I wasn't confused and never really felt lost. I love the author's writing style - this isn't the first novel by Abigail Own I've read (just the first one in this series) and she has become a top favorite. Starting the series from the very beginning will be my next endeavor.

Stayed up all night reading this baby and the fuzzy mind and dark circle under my eyes was worth!

In Abigail Owen's dragon shifter world, female dragons are rare and sterile. They also don't bond like true/fated mates do with other dragons because they don't share their dragon fire.

So our heroine, Lyndi is a female dragon. She thought she'd accepted never mating until she meets Levi, a gold dragon that sets her every nerve on fire. Except that a misunderstanding (and a case of always saying/doing the wrong thing) has Lyndie thinking Levi's rejected her out of hand and starts them both down a long miserable and lonely co-habitation situation :)

Fast forward years later and these two have perfected the haters to lovers vibe pat. They both love to rag on the other while desperately hiding their true feelings for each other. They finally admit to their explosive attraction for each other when the perfect storm of everything that could go wrong does and Levi and Lyndi have to battle not only their mutual enemy but also their own doubts and fears.

The angst was off the charts and I was seriously, emotionally invested in these characters. Every time Lyndi’s vulnerability and fears surfaced my heart squeezed and my eyes got teary. But these were also the moments where Levi shined brightest. This golden boy had a heart as big as Lyndi’s and twice the stubborn determination to claim his one and only *swoon* I fell for both Levi and Lyndi, they are another strong couple to root for.

Seriously this was a great read -this coming from a new reader to this series. I can honestly say, it can be read as a standalone.

I did have two issues that kept me from giving a full 5 star ratings (view spoiler)

Overall, I love this author’s dragon shifters and can’t wait to read Warrior King!!!! Now that we know the truth behind female dragons, I can't wait to find out how Arden and Reid finally deal with their own obstacles and finally get together. I hope it's epic and just as romantic as this one was!

PS that freaking adorable ending?!? Yes, please!!! And THANK YOU!

I was interested in Lyndi's story after knowing her from the other books. Lyndi and Levi are both stubborn and fiercely protective of Lyndi's boys. Enjoyed reading the parts with the orphan boys in them and meeting a new, although unexpected, character. Story was steady paced and had some action to it. Need to see where the story takes everyone in the next book.

“I dare you to be brave enough to love me back.”

My review was also posted on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Goodreads. I will also feature it with a book photo on my Instagram account soon

The Protector by Abigail Owen is the fifth book in the Fire’s Edge series. I did not realize this book was a fifth book in the series, and was given a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I do feel like this book could definitely be read as a stand alone without reading the other books first. The book follows Lyndi Chandali, a rare female born dragon, who has always known she shouldn’t be able to have a true mate or have children. Lyndi has instead thrown herself in to rescuing and protecting orphaned and abandoned dragons a home. It also follows beta enforcer Levi Rowtag, who has always known his job is to fight and to protect. Levi has been attracted to Lyndi since he first laid eyes on her, but Lyndi has always given him vibes that she wanted nothing to do with him. When he realizes that at least part of her feels for him, he won’t stop until she agrees to become his. They have a lot of obstacles to overcome, there is war in the lands and Levi is being called away by his king. And Lyndi is sure that since she is dragon born, she can’t and shouldn’t mate with Levi, as she feels it will hold him back from finding a human true mate and having children.

There was a lot I liked about this book. It was about dragon shifters for one, and that is just an amazing concept to me. I adored how Lyndi cared for her band of orphans and how they cared for her. There were some majorly steamy romance scenes. Overall though I just never felt very connected to these characters. Parts of their relationship seemed too forced to me, and it got kind of old to me that Lyndi kept letting her fear get in the way, while Levi seemed oblivious to why she was pulling away. I give this book 3.5 stars, but I am interested in reading others in the series so I am adding them to my tbr list.
