I've always known of Kathie Lee Gifford and seen her periodically on tv, but I didn't really know much about her as a person. I enjoyed learning about her personal life, especially how she got her start in the tv industry. As she was the narrator on the audio version, I enjoyed hearing how her deep faith has always played a big part in her life. I didn't think the book was amazing, but definitely enjoyable. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 |

3.5 stars--I liked it but I wasn't wowed. I'm probably not the main target audience. I know who Kathie Lee Gifford is but I haven't followed her or her career. I don't really keep up with celebrities or watch the types of shows she has been famous for. However, I was aware of some of the big news stories she discusses in the book. In this audiobook, I learned much more about her Christian faith and how she has relied on that. I think that her story will resonate for a lot of people, especially Christian women. However, I don't think the title reflects the content very well. In my opinion, she justifies her decisions, whether impulsive or considered, after the fact as being led by her faith, but it didn't feel like that was necessarily cause and effect as much as an underlying belief system. Anyway, I applaud her for writing her book without downplaying her faith since it is so important to her in her life. She narrates the book, which I think was appropriate and pretty well done. She includes poetry (I think, maybe songs?) she has written between chapters, as well as scriptures. I would recommend this for her fans or for Christian readers, but think that other readers might not enjoy it as much. |
First I have to thank NetGalley , Thomas Nelson; W Publishing and Kathie Lee for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. This audiobook, narrated by Kathie Lee herself was a game changer for me! I will be honest and say that I was not a fan of Kathie Lee, I've watched her on TV and thought she was a loud mouthed know it all. But as I learned from reading this book you can't judge a person by their cover, or how tv portrays them. Kathie Lee is a faithful, loving , caring and honest person and it shows when you listen or read this book. I enjoyed her truthful stories about her life and her faith in God during all of it. Having a new found faith I can truly appreciate her insight and found myself nodding along several times in the book. She seems like a true gem and I would love to have a friend like her, not to mention the energy she has! Recommended for those fans of autobiographies, Christian Non-Fiction and celebrity tell alls. I just might have to check out her other books! And movies, and music... whew! |
Before listening to this audiobook I had heard of Kathie Lee Gifford and 'The Today Show' (thanks to the entertainment news shows) but wasn't aware of who she really was. This audiobook, which is narrated by Kathie Lee herself, has given me a glimpse of who she is and what I found inspiring is her positive outlook on life, career and faith despite going through her own fair share of bad experiences. Also, can I just say I fell in love with her voice too....it is so soothing, warm and endearing I really could listen to her for hours! My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Thomas Nelson/ W Publishing and the author Kathie Lee Gifford for the audio-ARC of the book. The book published on 1st December 2020. |
Definitely one of the most inspiring non-fiction books I've read this year. From dreaming to failures to pressures to marital problems to spiritual hope, Kathie covers it all. The bare rawness as she shares her personal life's dreams and struggles encouraged me to hold on to my dreams of writing when things look bleak. And more importantly to trust God during times when we walk through our personal valleys. |

IT’S NEVER TOO LATE was sent to me by Net Galley, free of charge, in exchange for my honest review. Thomas Nelson was the publisher for this Christian memoir by Kathie Lee Gifford. Her foreword was written by Dolly Parton. Both of these lovely ladies are very special to me. I’ve kept up with them since I was young. I followed Kathie Lee on THE REGIS AND KATHIE LEE SHOW (seldom missed an episode). Then, I watched her on THE TODAY SHOW. And, now, I watch all of her films and listen to her music. Of course, I had to listen to the audiobook of her memoir, IT’S NEVER TOO LATE! She is one precious lady. In her memoir, she tells of her childhood in Chesapeake Bay. She tells about how, after a difficult first marriage, she met, fell in love with, and married Frank Gifford, the athlete and, later, sport’s announcer. She tells about how hard his indiscretion was for her and how she was able to forgive him. And, she tells us how difficult it was to lose the love of her life. She tells us the true story about the “sweat shop scandal” that she went through. I love how passionate she spoke of her time with REGIS AND KATHIE LEE, and how she loved Regis and Joy Philbin…how hard it was when he passed, as well. She told us how she came to be on the TODAY SHOW with Hoda Kotbe, and how she became known for her glass of wine on the set each day. She even spoke of why she left after so many years. I loved her quote for the book, “I’m not retiring. I’m retiring”. This was when we learned of her current undertakings as a musician, an actress, and a producer. I promise you, you WANT TO read this book or listen to this audiobook (narrated by Kathie Lee, herself). It is so inspiring!! I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK! |
This is the second book authored by Kathy Lee Gifford that I’ve read. Her books always catch my eye because I know that they’re going to include the role that her faith plays in her life. It read a bit more like a memoir than what I expected, but I enjoyed her stories and the message that she was trying to communicate in each one of them. There were some sweet and poignant moments in the stories, and I appreciated her willingness to share them. Thank you to #netgalley and #thomasnelsonpublishing and #wpublishing for the ALC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. #itsnevertoolate #kathieleegifford #bookstagram |

“What would I do if I could?” It’s Never Too Late by Kathie Lee Gifford 3.5 stars. Now I don’t really know Kathie Lee Gifford. I’m not American and don’t live in the US. I heard her name every now and then in the sitcoms and those celebrity new shows that talk about her but that’s it. Never watched her on tv. So when I saw this audio book on NetGalley, I figured, oh well, why not check it out. She’s entertaining, deeply Christian, very creative, and tells good stories. This is a self-help book and just like the Bible, uses the stories she tells of her experiences as the medium to show the lesson. A real life parable, so to speak. So it was interesting to listen to Kathie Lee narrate her book. At the very least I know more of her now. Though I can’t help but wonder if I’m the right audience for this book. Feels like she is someone my mother would’ve listened to 😂 and not my age group. But hey, learning it’s never too late is a lesson we all need to know and learn. This arc is so late but thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson W Publishing for the copy! It was a nice listen. |
I love how she writes. I read this book in two days and feel blessed by her faith. She has renewed my love of God and how i see him in my life everyday. Thank you for giving us this book to connect deeper with God through your words. |
I spent years watching Regis and Kathie Lee, mainly for Regis as Kathie Lee always felt just too over the top. I thought I'd give this a try as the message of it never being too late really resonates with me. However, I didn't end up enjoying this and sped through most of it. I thought she came across as too dramatic and the extreme inclusion of the Bible and religion weren't for me. I found the inside info on some famous people mild;y interesting but overall this wasn't for me |
While I agree with the basic premise of this book and enjoy the anecdotes about Kathie Lee Gifford's career and celebrity encounters, I found it overall less than satisfying. The concept of changing of your life at any age is an inspiring one, and, as the author points, out, she has done the work. However, as I am sure happens with each of us when relating the story life's story, I found Gifford's retelling of hers to be a bit self-serving. For instance, her first marriage sounds appalling, but I had to wonder as I listened to the audiobook what her ex-husband might have to say if given the chance. It always takes two to make a relationship. I also found myself wondering why someone leaves college with a semester left to go. Gifford indicates that this was God's influence in her life, but I have to wonder how much was God and how much was the will of an immature and impatient young woman. I found Gifford's narration of the audiobook to be smooth and professional, but at times bordering on being on the saccharine. Verdict: Entertaining tidbits enliven Gifford's rendition of her life's events. Full Disclosure--NetGalley and the publisher provided me with a digital ARC of this audiobook. This is my honest review. |
Thank you for providing this for my review. Unfortunatey, this was not for me. I am aware that Kathy Lee was a household name when I was growing up, and I know ky grandmother and mother watched her and believed her to be sincere, but I just dont. I found her stories, while positive and uplifting, to be a bit saccharine for my taste. Its a shame that she has to constantly drip her words with drama, because she otherwise had some good stories to tell, positive messages to relay, and didnt need to put on this audiobook as if she were performing a melodrama on Broadway. Yikes! That sounds so harsh, but its just my honest opinion. I wont be publishing this negative review as I did DNF this audiobook due to the narrator's job coming off as so disgenous and over the top religious. Just couldnt stomach it, but Im sure many who are religious or desensitized to Kathy Lee's ways, may enjoy this. Sadly, I didnt. |
Absolutely fantastic!!! I felt like I was at dinner with a cool aunt listening to all her stories! I loved how Kathie Lee was the narrator & she did a beautiful job telling her story! She’s relatable & I loved getting to know her better through her beautiful words. For an audio book it was a quick & easy listen & I absolutely recommend it! |
Loved this beautiful book! I learned many things about Kathie Lee Gifford and it felt like I was listening to a friend tell her story to me. This is a must read! |
I feel as if I grew up with Kathie Lee Gifford around me since she was on TV, especially on Regis & Kathie Lee - I did not know much more about her so this book was really interesting in learning how she got to Regis & Kathie Lee and then how she moved to Good Morning America & beyond! I enjoyed listening to this book since it was read by Kathie Lee. I was not aware of her religious views and how they would come up throughout many of her life stories. This makes complete sense for her life story, I simply did not expect it in the early chapters. I think this book would be even more appreciated by my mother or somebody who regularly watches her on television. |
I listened to the audiobook and Kathie Lee Gifford does a wonderful job narrating her life story. This book has a little bit of everything family, friends, faith and gossip! |

I have always loved Kathie Lee Gifford. I loved watching her and Hoda every morning. But as I have gotten older, I have liked her less and less. This book kind of solidified this. I felt it read as though she thinks she is better than others. I felt her advice tidbits at the end of the chapters were unnecessary. I am so bummed because I have been anticipating this book since she announced it. |

Good book but as I said in reading the Netgalley copy-too many mentions of famous people. Too much information. Still interesting . |

This is not my normal type of book, but, oh my, how I loved it! When I saw this audiobook on Netgalley, I had to request it. I always loved watching Kathie Lee on the Today Show. She was such a joy to watch. When I saw that she had a new book out, I decided that I needed to know more about her. This book is part memoir and part inspirational self-help. Kathie Lee tells stories about her life and times that she decided to make a change in her life. The whole message of this book, and it's title, is "It's Never Too Late." It's never too late to make a career change, it's never too late to find your path, it's never too late to find love. You experience all of the heartbreak and the elation with Kathie Lee. I loved listening to this book! I had so many emotions while listening. Kathie Lee did an amazing job at the narration. (The only problem I had with the narration was whoever read Dolly's introduction). I know that some people might be turned off by so much reference to Christianity and the Bible in this book. It didn't bother me at all. I am not a devout Christian in any form of the imagination, but I found Kathie Lee's devotion so inspiring. But she also didn't shove it down the reader's throats. She was also very accepting of other religions. I loved how accepting this book is. Overall, I loved this book. I laughed and cried and got chills. So amazing! |
It’s Never Too Late, by Kathie Lee Gifford, is a memoir filled of encouragement, love, and inspirational stories. She looks back at events in her life that challenged and changed her, both professionally and personally. She shares life lessons with empathy and compassion. Kathie Lee was raw and authentic in her stories. I recommend the audio version as Kathie Lee, with her smooth voice, narrates it herself. The pacing is perfect, and her impersonations are hilarious. This book presents her as human, and relying on her faith, she shares the peaks and valleys of her life. She has touched so many people. You will be pleasantly surprised at how many people are referenced in the book! By listening to this book, she touched mine. I looked forward to listening to it and was always left feeling better when I was done. It was certainly inspirational and good for my soul! Thank you NETGALLEY, Kathie Lee Gifford and Thomas Nelson W Publishing for this ARC, in exchange for my honest review. ❤️️ |
