I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a really addictive story – I have loved the other books I have read by this author so when I saw that she had a new release out I jumped at the chance to get my hands on a copy – and it was well worth it!

The characters in this book are well developed and their interaction is brilliant, they are sassy where they need to be, strong and confident – just what I look for in my main characters and love a book I can get my teeth in to.

Gemma’s books are well developed with gritty storylines and this was no different – Gemma is a fabulous storyteller and she really brings the characters to life and I am already looking forward to her next release - it is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!

After completing a 4 year sentence for causing death by dangerous driving Jess Strickland is released from prison on a 6 month probation period. The terms of her probation mean she has to have a fixed address and place of employment. With her sister, Helen refusing to allow her to move back into the family home Jess accepts a bed sit in a converted garage and a job at Brights Laundry arranged by her Probation Officer. Her determination to see out her probation term without event seems to be hindered by her past mistakes and trouble seems to follow her putting her liberty at risk.

I found this to be an enjoyable, easy read. Jess is not as streetwise as she would believe and gets herself into situations that I found myself thinking, no don’t do it! There is a knight in shining armour in the guise of her, boss’ brother, Dan who helps to pull her through.

Many thanks to,NetGalley and the publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is a gritty urban thriller with believable characters and events. Jess is on probation and anxious not return to prison. Forced to work in an industrial laundry, she is pushed into an abusive environment but determined not to be a victim.

This is a suspenseful story with good use of pace. Psychological suspense and vivid crime details draw the reader into Jess' world. The plot has unexpected twists and a dramatic conclusion.

This story has an authentic urban ethos with relatable characters and an absorbing plot.

I received a copy of this book from Boldwood Books via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Bad Girls by Gemma Rogers follows the journey of Jess Strickland when she is released from prison after completing her sentence. She only has six months of probation left until she is free to live her new life anyway she wants to. So when her probation officer Barry manages to get her a job at Bright’s Laundry Service she thinks that it will be easy to keep her nose clean but she discovers that being on the outside is no safer than being in prison.

The story started out really slow but once the pace picked up it got a lot more interesting and I found myself hooked. I found that each character was complex in their own way and I think that the author did a brilliant job at creating them especially the awful ones that I hated.

At times I thought that I knew how the story was going to end but there was always a twist or secret that managed to throw me off course. I never saw the end coming and I really liked how it ended. I would definitely be interested in reading more from this author. This story was filled with revenge, second chances, romance, forgiveness and heartbreak.

This book contains issues such as murder, sexual assault, drug use, violence and suicide.

I recieved an advanced copy for free, and this is my honest opinion.

Another fabulous book by this brilliant lady. I haven't read a bad one yet and this is no exception.
Jess has been released from prison and is working in an industrial launderette, she is trying to get her life back on track but her sleezy boss has other ideas, when tough girl Karla befriends her she has no idea what her motive is and after a horrific experience the two girls are bound together.
A really good book with likeable and unlikable charecters throughout, this book has it all really, friendship, family problems and danger... everything you need to keep you wanting to read more!

I’d like to thank Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Bad Girls’ by Gemma Rogers in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Jess has just been released from Bronzefield Prison following a sentence of four years for dangerous driving. She’s given a job at Bright’s Laundry Service where she meets another ex-prisoner Karla and where her boss Terry expects favours from ‘his’ women. Jess is on probation for six months and will be returned to prison if she doesn’t avoid trouble but when Terry makes unwanted advances she decides she’s had enough of being a victim and takes a stand against him.

This is an excellent thriller, well-written and suspenseful, and one that’s had me gripped from page one. Having read Ms Rogers’ previous books I was looking forward to ‘Bad Girls’ and am so grateful I’ve been allowed to read it. The plot was exciting and kept me enthralled, I felt concern for the characters of Jess and Karla and empathised with their predicament, and found myself thinking about them when I wasn’t able to read. When I reached the final chapters the conclusion was perfect, unexpected but oh so fitting, and I was able to let out a breath of relief although I admit I had to read the final page twice! This thriller is worthy of five stars and I’m so looking forward to the next one.

Jess is fresh out of prison trying to keep on the straight and narrow working at Brights on her probation and soon makes friends with Karla.

After work one night things take a turn for the worse and Jess will do anything to stay of prision.

Who are her friends and who is against her?

This had me reeled in from the first chapter and before I knew it I was half way though, WOW so many ways this book could of gone and kept me on tender hooks all the way to the end.

I could add a lot more but feel it will spoil it for you so do not delay and pick this fantastic read up.

I absolutely loved this one, my favourite from Gemma so far.

Brilliant ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I really enjoyed this book. It tells the story of Jess Strickland as she try’s to get her life back together after being released from prison on probation. Karla one of the girls at the laundry Jess gets a job at seems to want to be friends but things start happening leaving Jess wondering exactly how much of a friend Karla is. There is lots going on in this fast paced thriller I give it 5 stars.

You are immediately pulled into this book from page one. The book begins with a dead body, which Karla and Jess are trying to conceal. The narrative the rewinds and skips forward, in order for the reader to discover how this happened and the nail biting consequences of it.

Fresh out of prison, Jess Strickland has just six months’ probation to serve until she’s free to get on with the life, she left behind 4 years ago.

With few options available, Jess takes a job at Bright’s’, an industrial laundry company alongside other ex-cons, all eager to keep their noses clean.

Here she finds an ally in Karla but soon learns her new boss Terry, is not all he seems.

When Terry ends up dead and with lots of threatening and nasty behaviour being displayed towards her, Jess realises she’s no safer on the outside Jess refuses to be a victim any longer.

How far will she go to avoid going back to prison?

This has truly lived up to its claim of being a thrilling, gripping and dark read that I have devoured. I have been completely lost in this dark world that covers topics including drugs, sex, death and betrayal. This is a fast paced read that you won’t want to put down.

After being on the edge of my seat throughout, I was nervous about the ending and whether it would live up to my high expectations. However, it absolutely delivered. The ending is shocking, unexpected, heart warming, heart breaking and mysterious all rolled into one!

I highly recommend this book to fans of dark, crime or gangland thrillers, and authors such as Emma Tallon and Martina Cole.

Thank you NetGalley, Boldwood Books and Gemma Rogers for the ARC or Bad Girls
What can I say... Wow! Absolutely loved this book, did not want to put it down, would have finished faster but work happened. What a brilliant story about survival, doing what you need to do, keeping your head down, just to get through it. here is my recap of the novel, tried not to give any spoilers
Released from prison and having to work for a creepy scumbag who expects serial favors
Jess spent 4 yrs in jail for murder, she has been released and her sister, who all bit avoids her has found her a bedside to live at while Helen lives in their child hood home looking after their mother. Jess doesn't complain, she just wants to get through her 6 month probation. She meets a new girl, Karla at the industrial laundry where she is working. Jess think Karla is decent but not for long, she is tied to her past and now her present
Jess tries to visit her mother, to be turned away at the door by Helen, and then finds out that in fact her mother is more than happy to see her when she forces her way in to the house
Jess re-acquaints herself with her best friend Ashley, also having assumed Ashley wanted nothing to do with her.
The meat of the story however is what Jess and Karla have to hide after being asked to do sexual favors for Terry, the owner of Brights laundry. Thank goodness for Dan who comes in and has to take over

Full of twists and turns, This is a must read, especially if you have read Gemma's precious books! I didn't want to put this novel down, I didn't want the story to end. The storyline was great, got my interest right away and kept me reading. I can't wait for her next novel!! Keep writing Gemma!

I read this book in one sitting. Jess, the main character, has come out of prison after serving 4 years. She is working in a laundry and quickly becomes friends with Karla. Her employer is sexually abusing and exploiting the girls in his employment. This is a harrowing and very descriptive read, with plenty twists and action to draw the reader in. A quick and easy read. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

After serving time in HMP Bronzefield prison for murder 20 something Jess Strickland is found a job by her case manager Barry in Brights laundry washing the dirty bedding and table cloths of hotels, hospitals, and other establishments.

Having a criminal record she can't get much else. The manager there is a greasy molester called Terry who the girls are all wary of as he calls them into his office exploiting his power to make the girls do him sexual favors.
She pals up with one of the other girls Karla who seems to know more than she lets on and becomes a threat to Jess.
Jess's sister Helen and her mother live together but Helen doesn't want Jess to live at their family home and upset their mother after her stroke whilst Jess was in prison. Jess is reduced to living in a bedsit alone.

This is such a brilliantly gripping story with some descriptions to make you shiver. There were a few times it twisted and made you think you hadn't guessed what the outcome was going to be. Very clever.
Really worth reading and 5 stars.
Thank you, NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

Who can you trust? NO ONE! Jess has just gotten out of prison for a mistake she made long ago. She’s paid the price and is soon to be completely free after her probation. She gets a job working at an industrial laundry company alongside other ex-convicts. Unfortunately, her boss Terry is a horrible person and Jess gets caught up in a situation that could land her back in jail if she’s not careful. Who can she trust?

I was HOOKED on this book.
