DNF. I could not get through too many characters, too detailed narration and gossiping neighbors. I had problems with the writing and lost interest pretty fast. Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher for that ARC, but this read just wasn’t for me. |

Wow, wow, wow! This was well written, fast paced, unputdownable thrill ride! It was completely riveting and written in a manner that had me so tense with the tension melting off the pages! Thrills, chills, twisty turns, and shocks are sure to get you throughout this amazing rollercoaster of a book! Highly? Highly highly recommend! Be sure to clear schedules and do not start before bed time! |
just finished this gem and let me tell you AMAZING! I was on the edge of my seat the entire book and there were so many secrets and twist. I read The Missing Woman in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down. I loved how the book starts with a kidnapping right from the beginning. This book was a fast pace roller coaster and I recommend it to all my thriller loving friends. |
This book is absolutely brilliant! When the town all gathers at their local pool to celebrate the fourth of July, it brings together the women that would usually stay clear of one another. Everyone appears to be enjoying the celebrations, that is - until Sabine goes home to collect something and doesn't return. When her husband goes to find her, he finds the door broken and blood. The whole neighbour hood begin looking for Sabine, and as we begin to meet the other women, many twists and turns come to light. This book had me captivated from the first chapter. The authors writing style really pulls you in and has you hanging on their every word, and as the story progresses you are on the edge of your seat. The end of the book was certainly not what I had expected either, and I love that! It is definitely a thriller that everyone should read. |
On the Fourth of July the town gathers at the pool for celebrations and fireworks. Women from the big house’s and the single women don’t normally mix but today is a day they are all together. Everybody is enjoying the celebrations until Sabine goes home to get something and doesn’t return . Her husband comes to the pool and seeing his wife is not there goes home to find her but when he gets there the door is broken and there is blood. The whole neighbourhood is out looking for Sabine but there is no sign of her. Erica is one of the single mothers with Tish and Amanda . Tish tells Erica the main suspect is her married lover. Amanda is the one keeping them upto date on what’s going on about Sabine. This book kept me reading and I didn’t expect the twist Another great book Thanks NetGalley |
A really enjoyable read with a great twist that I never saw coming! Told by several characters points of view it tells the story of old friends that lost contact after a heated argument but meet again after many years. Without giving to much of the plot away this story follows a friendship through thick and thin and shows what people will do in the name of friendship |
The Missing Woman is a twisty psychological thriller that I couldn’t put down. Sabine is at the local outdoor swimming pool, lazing around waiting for the 4th July fireworks in the evening to start, she is the local politicians wife and has a life of luxury. Sabine nips home to grab a few things for her and her friends but she never returns. Sabine is missing, torn clothing found in the woods behind their house and blood in the house. Residents help the police to search the area but Sabine is not found. Where did she go and who is responsible for this? This book I have to be honest started slowly, the first quarter I did think I couldn’t finish it but kept going and boy am I glad I did. The book is like a different one after the first part, it becomes fast paced and so, so twisty. I didn’t get the right person so that was a plus for me, it led me right down the wrong path. I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review. |
If ever a book should be made into a movie - this is it!! Words cannot describe how much I loved this! It’s not often that a book is so captivating that you almost feel part of the story!! Posh toff Sabine has gone missing - last seen at the local pool! She has the perfect life, with a perfect husband - so who took her? With twists and turns keeping me absolutely on the edge of my seat, my heart is still pounding!! Could not put this down!! Deserves every one of those 5 stars!! |
Thank you Netgalley for an ARC of The Missing Woman, in exchange for an honest review. On the evening of the 4th of July when the community is lounging by the pool and watching fireworks one of their own goes missing. Sabine Miller. is one of the elite forces in the neighborhood but when she heads home early from the festivities and disappears, foul play is suspected, especially when blood and the appearance of a struggle is found at her home. Although they were not friends with the missing woman, Erica and her friends seem to keep getting wrapped up in the investigation. This is a decent thriller/whodunnit where you don't know who is involved in this woman's disappearance and who is to blame. The ending was forced and rushed which ruined a lot of the potential that this story had. It is an okay read, the pace and storytelling is good but the plot is lacking. |
The whole neighbourhood are at the community pool on the 4th July when Sabine, the local politician's wife goes missing. Plenty of twists and turns in this book as everyone in the community falls under suspicion. A great read, I really enjoyed the whole storyline. My first book read by Georgina but won't be my last Received this book from Netgalley and publishers in exchange for an honest review |
Loved this book that is about a disappearance of a politicians wife. Everyone in the town is out on. the night she disappeared. As she was leaving the pool earlier in the day Sabine gave Erica a strange look and dropped a piece of jewelry. Erica the woman trying to get to t the bottom of the mystery is a likable character and she has a lot of mystery surrounding herself too. The timeframe in the story shifts from the time she disappeared back into time before Sabine disappeared. I really enjoy stores where there is a disappearance....ala fictional Dateline. So good and kept me guessing up until the last page. Def recommend. |
It's the fourth of July and the whole town is gathered at the local pool. Green Cove is a mixed community where Sabine and her clique live in mansions, having perfect lives. Erica was envious of their lifestyle until Sabine shoots her a desperate look across the water and suddenly disappears. There’s so many secrets and it gets twisty, this was unputdownable and suspenseful! Thank you to Bookouture, the author, and NetGalley for a gifted copy. This is my honest review. |
Sabine is missing. What happened after she left the pool on the 4th of July? Is she alive or dead? According to a Facebook poll, most of her neighbors think she’s dead. Rest assured, all questions are answered at the end of this book! Definitely a satisfying ending. This was an entertaining read for me that I flew through. Everyone made mistakes, but that didn’t take away from the character’s likability. I especially enjoyed Tish, she was a great character. I was most certainly not expecting any of the twists (and there are a lot). I was truly guessing up until the end. There are a lot of books out like this, and I can’t say specifically without giving away spoilers, but it was still very unexpected and enjoyable! What a wild ride! There was one part, I didn’t particularly enjoy, because it seemed far fetched (hence my 4/5 stars). But I would recommend this book! |
The Missing Woman by Georgina Cross was a suspenseful thriller and I was hooked. There are multiple twists and turns and plenty of possibilities along the way that had me guessing the whole time. While I suspected one two twists, I was surprised by most and it was a really enjoyable book. It hooks you from the very beginning and then it's a constant suspense and tension that builds throughout the book. I read a lot of thrillers so I tend to guess every possible outcome at some point throughout the book. However, this one kept me on my toes. You will be suspecting almost every character of almost every possible crime. That's what happened to me. Cross drops so many little details and red herrings that you start to doubt everyone, how they're involved and what they're hiding. I would have loved an epilogue just because there were a couple of storylines I'd like to see play out. However, the last chapter ends with a bang and had me processing the book as soon as I finished. The characters were interesting, the format and pacing of the book were uniquely done (Facebook posts? Love that.) and the surprises are scattered throughout the book. This town is filled with all sorts of unique people, each with secrets of their own, and I loved that. The book alternated through time in a way I hadn't seen in another book and it was different. However, I think it worked well in this story and gave us enough information to keep us hooked but withheld enough information to keep us surprised. This is definitely a book worth reading and would make the perfect beach/vacation read or just a book for when you need a little escapism. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookotoure and Georgina Cross for an ARC copy in return for an honest review. This book reminded me of ‘Gone Girl’. I struggled with the start of this book but about half way through I started to really enjoy it. This book was gripping, thrilling and even made me do an audible gasp at some of the twists. Perfect for fans of ‘Gone Girl’ and thrillers. |
This was a really good book, it was everything that I expected it to be. It was gripping, with twists and turns and 'ooooh' moments. Would recommend. |
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this copy of The Missing Woman by Georgina Cross. You know a book is good when you audibly gasp at a plot twist. While reading The Missing Woman I audibly gasped several times, the plot twists are that good. Erica lives in a nice neighborhood but not as nice as the nearby Honor's Row, which houses the elite of the elite of Erica's community. Erica has two best friends that live in her part of the community and no real connection to Honors Row or it's residents. When Sabine Miller, Honors Row golden girl, goes missing it shouldn't be a big deal for Erica. Sabine is just another one of the elite, right? Read The Missing Woman to find out the answer to that question and many others that you don't even know you have yet. I really liked The Missing Woman, staying up late on a work night to finish it. I wasn't exaggerating when I said the plot twists made me gasp, I was truly stunned by the twists and turns that Georgina Cross managed to work into The Missing Woman without making it too confusing or outlandish. This is a thriller worth your time, trust me. |
A very interesting read! The story kept me gripped at all times and several times I had to catch my breath because I was gasping. If you love books like Big Little Lies, you will for sure enjoy this one! I can recommend it to anyone who is a fan of domestic thrillers. |
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC. This is another nail biting thriller by Georgina Cross. Just like her previous book, The Stepdaughter, The Missing Woman is perfectly paced and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Sabine Miller has disappeared. All of Sabine’s loved ones and friends are either desperately searching for her, or anxiously awaiting her return. As the mystery unfolds, many suspects come to light. The past is resurrected and facades are shattered. Loyalties are tested, as lives are broken. I grew to care for many of the characters and despise others. Appearances are definitely deceiving in this well crafted, compelling suspenseful thriller! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ |
*thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and Georgina Cross for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review* 2 stars. This was ok. It had moments where it really got my attention but they didn't start to happen until after I was 50% of the way through and even then they were short lived. I think the story was written well, but just wasn't for me. I didn't really care much for the characters and it was too much of a story about friends gossiping and that's not something I'm interested in. By the last 90% I was skim reading because I really wasn't interested but I did want to keep reading to see if it picked up. It didn't. While I wouldn't recommend it, there wasn't anything in it that would make me say, that it's because it was awful. It just wasn't for me and I hope that others out there enjoy it. |
