I enjoyed Hide And Seek. It is set locally to where I live which I think always helps my enjoyment of a book. I will be looking at reading further books in this series in the future. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my ARC. |

I really liked the idea for this book but it was just not for me, I found myself putting it down and forgetting about it. |
This was fun and entertaining to read, I felt like I was in the game too! To celebrate Jaime Kydd’s promotion to Detective Sergeant, he plays a murder mystery game with colleagues. All goes well until the game turns real when a body is discovered. The finger is pointed at everyone! Jaime enlists the help of former police detective Michael McLaren because of the nature of the victim’s criminal past. The author did a wonderful job giving voice to each character, making it twisty and suspenseful. I haven't read the books in the series, but plan to do so. Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for a gifted ebook copy. This is my honest review. |
His book was written really well but it just wasn’t for me unfortunately.............................................. |

This is a character driven book with a simple story by an author I have not read before. Perhaps a little more background on the characters would be appreciated and maybe a faster moving story. |
Jaymie Kydd has been promoted to Detective Sergeant, one that's been long in coming. His partner has planned a terrific event ... there are two bodies (mannequins) lying in the back yard. There are clues and evidence, just as in a real murder. All the guests must try to come up with the best scenario in order a win a grand prize. Jamie asks his friend, former police detective Michael McLaren to join the game. When McLaren takes a walk in the backyard, he finds a third body .. only this on is not a mannequin. The victim is actually the brother of the hostess, a man who had a criminal past. Who killed him? How did his body get in the yard with so many people around? Why was he killed? There are plenty of suspects .... his former partner in crime ... an ex-wife with an ax to grind ...or a childhood friend with another motive? The police aren't spending a lot of time looking into this murder...so it's up to McLaren to find who's lying and stop this game of Hide and Seek. This is a well written classic British mystery with twists and turns to keep the reader engaged. The characters are deftly drawn. Although 12th in the series, this one reads easily as a stand alone. The conclusion came at a fast pace and maybe not so surprising. Many thanks to the author /Cousins House / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction.
