Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy and opportunity to honestly review this book. I'm at a place in my life where I'm saturated with these types of resources around Christmas-time, and honestly, I'm a sucker for trying all of them. But here's what I love about this one. First, I'll state I'm a bit biased, because Josh was an adjunct professor in one of my psychology classes in college, and I've followed him and his wife's work since. But second of all, I love this resource because of its simplicity. It's thorough enough to not be a waste of money, with readings, scripture, questions, and an occasional family activity, yet not excessive in length each day. As a homeschooling mama who's always looking into resources like this, I highly recommend. |
This book’s take on advent is really unique. Each day focuses on a character trait in regards to a person, place or thing that relates to the coming of Jesus. The pictures and illustrations are simple and basic and full of color. Though the illustrations are not my style as I feel like it limits itself to a littler age group—the content is spot on for both my 4 year olds and my 10 year old. (And myself!) There are verses to think about, a prayer, and an activity to do together as a family. I’ve not seen an advent book with such good content for kids as this one. I highly recommend and would get a print version for our family. I received an electronic review copy for the purposes of reviewing and giving ym honest opinion. #netgalley #reviews |
Each day is a Bible character or element, an explanation of how they or it relates to the Christmas story, and questions and an activity to do with that reading. A great devotional for your family to do with small children during advent. |
This book is gorgeous! This would be perfect for families and for Christian classrooms! I’d say ages 3-10 could benefit. I love that there is a daily focus. The stories about the people who are so crucial to the Christmas story are so well done. I love that they’re not too long and written for a child to understand. The family activities & questions are perfect! They’re especially great for busy teachers who want to bring daily Christmas activities and discussions to their classroom. I already visualized copying, printing and displaying the page with the character/place for each day of Advent. I’d love to see this book in print as the illustrations are so nice! |
I really liked this book. It is a great book for kids and families. The pictures are great. They have family activities, to get everyone involved. |
