I received an audiobook copy of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Many thanks to them!

First off: The stories. I loved the vast majority of them, and even the ones I loved less were very well-written. I especially loved learning more about Yuri, considering how important he was in King of Scars. The little bits about Ravkan culture really deepen the lore of the world!

Second: The voice performances. As usual, Lauren Fortgang was great. And Ben Barnes! Wow! He's a really great addition!

I give The Lives of Saints five stars out of five!

I love the book, these stories sound so mystical as they are being read. Such a great book, but Leigh Bardugo always writes amazing books. I cant wait to read more of her books

The Lives of Saints is a collection of short stories by popular author Leigh Bardugo. Each of the stories in this collection are very short and tell the story of a different saint. Most of them are about the origin of a saint but a few of the stories tell of how a saint helped someone who prayed to them. These had a magical quality to them, with a definite fairy tale feel. Each story was a small capsule that immediately captivated.

I read my first Leigh Bardugo book last month and quite enjoyed it. It was[book:Ninth House|43263680] so wasn't even part of the Grishaverse. I am sharing this info for anyone wondering if you can read The Lives of Saints without reading the other Grishaverse books first, and the answer is unequivocally YES.

I listened to the audiobook and it was narrated by multiple narrators (one per story). I quite enjoyed it and it was a fairly quick read at just under an hour and a half. It's a great pick if you are scurrying about doing housework, shopping or even commuting to work.

I feel as though the Grishaverse is the closest we have to something Tolkienian at the moment with its ever expanding world and epic stories. This collection would be a much more readable version of the Silmarillion, in that it goes through the myths that exist within this world. Something that will be fun for readers who are well versed with the stories within this world was that there were mentions of both Alina and Matthias as two of the saints.

But they are far from the only ones who are present in this accounting. We also, now that I think of it, got to meet the patron saint of bees, who is found briefly in the end of the Shadow and Bone trilogy.

Probably this is a collection that doesn't make much sense to people who haven't already got a passing acquaintance with the series. There isn't a lot more to it than these histories and myths, and no cohesive narrative to hold it all together.

A short-story compilation that makes for a smart companion with the Grishaverse. The audiobook narrators were well chosen as a good balance the original Grishaverse and the upcoming adaptation. Unfortunately, if you know how most saints are, well, sainted this does not make for as interesting of a read as you would think it would be.

Beautiful stories and wonderful narration. This is one I would revisit over and over again. I love the added details. While I would rather have a physical copy because of the illustrations, I still loved it immensely

I love the Grishaverse and I cannot even tell you how incredibly excited I am for the upcoming Netflix series. This audiobook gave its listeners such an incredible insight into the lives of the Grishaverse saints. After listening to this book I was immediately ready to jump back into the Grishaverse! I miss being in the world with some of my favorite characters.

Each story was brilliantly told and I highly recommend the audiobook. Anyone who loves the Grishaverse will greatly enjoy these stories.

As a big fan of the Grisha verse I thought this was a great addition to the lore of the world. I love when authors create books with stories that allow you to learn more about the world you’ve come to love throughout many books. While this isn’t necessary to read I order to read the other books, I feel it is a great one to pick up!

I absolutely loved listening to the audiobook and it’s all due to Ben Barnes. He has an extremely soothing voice that I adored. I loved learning about all the different saints and I must say the Starless Saint was my favorite. I’ve already purchased a physical copy to add to my collection. Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to listen to this amazing book!

This is a great re-entry point to the Grishaverse! As I'm eagerly awaiting the tv show and last book in the series, both of which come out this year, I thought this could be a good way to refresh my memory. And while it didn't so much do that, it did remind me that Leigh Bardugo is the KWEEN of atmospheric brutality. Imagine like a 1983787 times more violent version of Aesop's fables and that's what you've got here. This collection is a must for die-hard Grishaverse fans!

I listened to this as an audiobook, and the guy that plays the Darkling narrates the dude saints. He did a great job which bodes well for the tv series! I liked the woman narrator as well.

Anyway, this is not to be missed by folks who can't get enough Grishaverse content.

The Lives of Saints is absolutely a book that I would encourage everyone to immersive read!

There is something quite magical about listening to, while following along with - and studying the gorgeous illustrations - this book. It creates an entire vibe.

This is a fantastic companion to the Shadow & Bone trilogy. Also to note: Ben Barnes , who is in the Netflix series, narrates part of it. He's always easy to listen to. You should have read the trilogy before reading this companion anthology.

Beautiful! Thank you do much to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for this review copy of The Lives of Saints. The narrators of this book did a fantastic job. Lovers of folklore and fairytales would appreciate this little book even if they were not familiar with The Grishaverse. Those of us that are already fans of this world can further appreciate why the characters we love call upon these brave and clever Saints. Bardugo made a wonderful and beautiful companion piece to her Grisha novels with this book.

This one was a lot of fun!

I loved reading about all the different saints and their stories.

I highly recommend this to fans of both series!

This was fun. Not the greatest thing in the world, but fun. The narrators for the audiobook were really great. The stories were quick and easy, I didn’t have to think too hard about any of them. It was the reading equivalent of a nice spring breeze. I got a few of the bigger references to other Grisha characters, but I think a few went over my head because I have yet to read King of Scars and it’s been a long long time since I read the other books. Still, that didn’t really impact my experience with this one, though I do think people who are reeeally into the Grishaverse are going to be the ones who appreciate this the most.

I received this and as an audio galley to listen to for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for giving me access.

This was short and sweet with lots of death. I must say that I enjoyed it more than I anticipated, seeing how I am not a fan of the Grishaverse. I know, the shame.

The Lives of Saints makes me want to give the Grishaverse another go now that I know more about the Saints.

3.5 stars rounded up.

One of my favorite audiobooks of the year - it has everything - great stories, great narrators and acts as a great companion to the Grishaverse series.

I particularly loved that the stories were dark, classic feeling fairytales. There was no Disney style endings to be found in this book. I also loved how clever some of the Saints were and how their story tied into what they were the saint of.

I listened to the audiobook of this title, but would highly recommend purchasing the print edition as well. It contains beautifully drawn pictures in addition to the tales. This is an amazing part of the Greshaverse and a must have for any Leigh B. fan. It would be a wonderful gift. The tales of the Saints are very graphic but each of them contain a moral that teens would respond to and learn from. Five stars!

This is the first audiobook arc courtesy of MacMillian audio through Netgalley, and I was so delighted to be granted permission to read and review Bardugo's book of myths that exist adjacent to her own fictional worlds. I madly loved every myth for every saint herein, and on Bardugo's work alone this rating would have been 5 stars.

Alas, the female narrator for the stories has a very hard almost-lisp on each of her "s" sounds and I kept wincing all the way through at each new word with one in it. After this experience with her for half of the few hours of this novella, I would not pursue listening to other pieces she narrated.

(But I will continue to read everything that is ever published by Bardugo!)
