This book combines so many different story lines and characters who leap through time that all I felt was confused. The author displays an amazing amount of information on the subject matter but the way he allowed it to play out was just not for me. I'm sure it will be found amazing by some readers but again, just not my genre.

i loved the use of Norse mythology, the characters were great and I enjoyed that it wasn't a typical young adult novel, It was an enjoyable read.

I was really intrigued when I read the description for this book, but I found myself being more disappointed than entertained. I felt like the story did have a lot of potential, but it felt clunky and for the first three quarters of the book it felt like a chore to read instead of fun. I felt like the characters fell flat especially Astrid who was supposed to be the center of the story. I honestly couldn’t have cared if the searchers found her and killed her. The ending was much more interesting but I would have liked the other boys to be mentioned. I did like the trippy way things were tied up at the end. Although the defeat of the bad guys was anti-climactic. I’m grateful to the publisher and netgalley for the chance to read and review a copy of this book.

This is from an inexperienced author, and it shows here. This story had potential that didn't pan out. Maybe his next one will be better.

Thanks very much for the review copy!!

This book had much potential. Sadly, the first 75% proved to be very superficial and uninteresting. Astrid was a truly unlikeable character; I was annoyed with her behaviour, her character - anything about her, really. She acted like a little princess and I am not overly fond of characters like hers when reading books.
The last part of the book however, was very good. The mystery of the doorbell, the nordic mythology that had been added to the book... It almost felt as if I was reading two different books for those final 25% and I enjoyed the ending very much.

The story description said that this book would be similar to Divergent and Stranger Things, which is why I was so interested in reading this story. I didn't really get that comparison with what I was reading. Reading the story was a bit confusing for me and it kind of seemed disorganized as if the pacing was off. The characters were kind of interesting but I wasn't that invested in them. Overall, the story was okay but somewhat lackluster for that I was expecting based on the book description.
