Cute and quirky, I enjoyed the story. Had a few issues with the pacing, but all in all a fun read. Looking forward to the author’s next book.

Unfortunately I could not get in to this one. I think my reading tastes are changing. I will update my review if I try and read again.

I DNFed this book because of the voice of the main character. It felt gimicky and honestly annoying. All that I read was predictable. I felt like I knew where the book was going and didn’t care to finish it.

I apologize but I was not able to finish this book. I was in a different headspace at the time of requesting / recieving this book and the time I got it.

Thank you for the ARC of the book. It was a breezy read with light-hearted premise. I however also felt that the writing could have been polished and revised a bit by the editor. There was a lot of unnecessary negativity that also could have been avoided. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the book.

After seeing the rave reviews on this one, I really wanted to love it -- but it's really hard to like a book when nearly all of the characters are immensely unlikable! Lily's "friends" are all terrible to her, and so is her family -- and while Lily does have a few redeeming moments trying to help her friends with wedding-related crises, she's mostly awful to her friends, too (and really awful to her future sister-in-law). I nearly DNFed this but wanted to power through since so many people loved it, but ultimately it just didn't work for me.

This was a unique touch on a familiar story: an unmarried woman who is somehow exposed and the people in her life turn on her. The wedding elements were interesting, though eventually I was frustrated with both Lily, the main character, and everyone else in the story.

One small thing, I found it quite cute that her blog's name is also the title of this book. That was a nice touch.

2.5/5

This is such a fun unique romantic comedy! I love the main character, Lily, her inner snarky monologue, and her desire to be there for her friends and family. Anyone that's had anything to do with a wedding will find something relatable and appreciate the humor and hijinks that occur in the story. If you pick up one romcom this summer it should be this one!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC. The book is a breezy read, with some hilarious and emotional moments. Would recommend it to all my friends.

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me (9%). The first thing that started to irk me was how the exposition was handled—it is straight up a chapter of the character being like "I'm Lily. I work at blah blah place. I have a sister." It felt like a lazy way to introduce the character, and took away any emotion I might have felt by getting to know her in a more active way.

Also, some of the writing/dialogue felt unpolished. (I do have an uncorrected proof, so maybe some of this changed before publication.) For instance, Lily is on the phone with Megan, and she doesn't want Megan to tell her which groomsman Lily went home with the night before, and she says "LALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" This just feels like placeholder dialogue that should've been replaced with something more mature/interesting later.

I think there is just too much telling vs. showing for my taste, based on what I read. There is at least half a chapter, if not a full one, of Lily literally just calculating how much it's going to cost her to be in all of these weddings. On the one hand I think it makes sense for this to be mentioned in a book about being a bridesmaid in 5 weddings—that's a real concern!—but narratively it's not THAT interesting or important.

I've also seen in some other reviews that there is a lot of body shaming and fat phobia in this book, and I'm not interested in reading that.

I think the premise of this book is interesting and fun—seems very 27 Dresses—and that lots of people love it! Sadly it wasn't for me.

This was such a funny and witty read. I was hooked right from the start. This book will have you giggling the whole time. This is the perfect book to read one weekend in the summer. I recommend checking it out!

This book was a tale of wedding planning and friendship, and how wedding planning can be a fraught and stressful experience not just for the bride. Relatable but not a book I'll return to as I found a couple of eyebrow raising moments, and some characters who I really did not enjoy reading.

This story was hilarious, entertaining and so reliable in so many scenes The bradzila was so on spot and I loved how everything was so predictable in the end, at least for me.

Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

For the Love of Friends is a fun and quirky read about the business of weddings. It's a wonderful look at friendship and just what we do to see those we love happy.

DNF at the begging, too many mistakes that would pull me out of the reading. Also I couldn't connect with the story and didn't get to care about the character.

Finding out about this novel was a case of book besherte. A friend from my neighborhood heard about it from a group of Jewish moms in our county on Facebook. (I didn't even know the group existed, but then joined it right away.) She told me about it and I reached out to the author's publicist, who then sent me a copy and connected me with the author for an interview. When I finally got around to reading it, I was more than impressed by this fantastic debut romcom.

I have over a decade on Lily and have only been a bridesmaid once, but she was so relatable that I couldn't help but root for her, even when the people in her life thought she was being awful. She and I both have a sibling who lives in Chicago while we live in the DC area (and I love that the story takes place here). We're both first-born children and Jewish. Also, we both worked at a job for 10 years even though it wasn't what we were meant to be doing, career-wise. I loved Lily's snark and sense of humor. The dialogue and banter was spot-on the entire time. I also found myself messaging the author anytime one of the wicked bridesmaids made me really angry. I had fun learning about the reason why these characters were created to act that way.

This was such a great story that I can't stop recommending! I told my sister that she needs to read it because she's the one who stood up in a lot of weddings. I already can't wait to read Sara Goodman Confino's next book.

Movie casting suggestions:
Lily: Kat Dennings
Alex: James Wolk
Amy: Madison Iseman
Madison: Molly Gordon
Megan: Sheila Vand
Caryn: Amanda Leighton
Lily's grandma: Lainie Kazan

This was an entertaining wedding-filled novel with a character who starts an anonymous blog to vent about the five weddings (over six weeks!) that she's asked to be a part of as a bridesmaid. A fun read!

Loved this book as I’m a sucker for wedding romances. The MC blog posts about the bride and bridesmaids were hilarious. I enjoyed this book from start to finish. I would love to read more from this author.
