A freelance photographer must put down roots.

A dog-training career man must find another path.

Two people who must open their hearts to new experiences and maybe find what they were looking for all along.

Just One Kiss is the second story in the Appletree Cove Romance series by Traci Hall. Our first character that we meet is Grace Sheldon. Grace is a freelance photographer struggling to come up with the money that is owed on her grandmother’s house. She is willing to take almost any temp job to get the funds, but is not willing or wanting to have a full-time position because that will keep her in one place.

Sawyer Rivera is the next character we meet. Sawyer’s life has been blindsided by a temperamental ex-girlfriend and he finds himself needing to regroup and so he moves to Kingston to find what he has forgotten; what he feels he has lost.

The first meeting between Grace and Sawyer was definitely NOT a positive one. One of Sawyer’s dogs in training knocked Grace down and then proceeded to destroy her camera. When they find out that Grace will be working as the receptionist at Sawyer’s dog training facility, the two have to learn how to work together. When Sawyer’s ex-girlfriend reenters Sawyer’s life, will he choose Grace?

This is the story of a man trying to find himself again and a woman who needs help. Do they realize that what they are searching for is right in front of them?

This is a multiple perspective, coworkers to lovers, romance about a freelance photographer Grace Sheldon, who is on the brink of losing her house that she inherited from her grandmother. Grace needs to come up with the 30,000 dollars quick, but in the meantime she has to make due picking up temp jobs. Her next one happens to be for the famous dog trainer, Sawyer Rivera, setting up his new dog training facility. Sawyer, is also the guy she met on the beach several days ago after his dog practically ate her expensive camera and then bailed. The next four weeks are going to be awkward to say the least, especially when Grace can’t stop staring at her new boss.
This book was ok. I found the writing was good. I enjoyed the dog training and the aspect that he is training these dogs for a special purpose and it turned into a really great group effort. It made the story very heartwarming, not to mention all the crazy stuff that happens with a hyper puppy on your hands. Also, if you're looking for a romance story, but without the sex scene, this one would be a good one to pick up. This book has a special needs person and veterans with PTSD represented, which I did like to see. However, I had a couple of issues, one of them being the dynamic of the two main Characters. Grace was very judgmental and quick to anger almost over practically everything Sawyer did without having all the information. At that point Sawyer was jumping hoops to make her feel better, which he really did not do anything wrong. I just did not like this back and forth and it happened a lot. With these two characters I really did not get the romance vibs from them, they just did not seem to connect for me that way, so it was not exciting in the sense that they were going to get together. Overall, this story was ok and it might definitely work for others.
Trigger warnings: PTSD, drug addiction

"She was intriguing, though not his type - a hippie chick. Her not being married erased the guilt of finding her hot."

Sawyer Rivera came to this small town to restart his "brand". A bad relationship has ruined his professional reputation and he's determined to start over. He didn't count on Grace Sheldon.

Grace doesn't know what to think of Sawyer. She's certainly attracted to him. But he's everything she has stayed away from. Rules, structure, material things - what could they possibly have in common? Yet, that doesn't seem to stop her feelings for him.

This was a super cute book! Fun and easy read.

Just One Kiss is the second book in the Appletree Cove series. I read it as a stand-alone and it was easy to read, fast-paced, and entertaining. The main characters had opposite personalities but were perfect for each other. Grace was carefree and artsy whereas Sawyer was focused and organized but they completed each other.
Grace Sheldon was a freelance photographer who moved to the town of Kingston to live with her grandmother who had passed away six months ago. Her grandmother had left her house to Grace but left no money to pay the back taxes on the house. Grace has tried to acquire a loan from the bank, but she has no steady employment history. She discovers her new boss is her handsome new neighbor but needs the money to help save her house.
Sawyer Rivera moved to Kingston to open his new dog training facility, Bark Camp. He had written several books on training dogs and had an option for a TV show. After his ex-girlfriend accused him of cheating to the media, his publicist thought it was a good idea for him to lay low. He decides to move to a small town and build his dog training facility using veterans to help improve his public image. As he settles into his new home, he realizes he wants his show to be about veterans and pairing them up with dogs to help them.

Sawyer and Grace couldn’t be more different. Grace was raised by parents who were hippies and has maintained a lassaiz faire attitude toward life into adulthood. She works as a freelance photographer and takes temporary jobs to fill in her finances as needed.

Sawyer is a celebrity dog trainer who has maintained a regimented work ethic that he learned while serving in the Marines. His reputation was brutalized by a model ex-girlfriend who wasn’t happy when he asked her to move out. He is trying to rehabilitate his image and doesn’t want anything to get in the way.

Despite their many differences, they can’t see to keep their hands off each other, even though Grace is working as a temp for Sawyer’s new business. Can these two possibly find a happily ever after together?

I received a complimentary copy of Just One Kiss in exchange for an honest review. Unfortunately this was not a good fit for me. The storyline with opposites attract was appealing, and I really enjoyed the way Grace and Sawyer met. After that, this book went south very quickly. I didn't feel any type of chemistry between these two. It also felt like the author went back into the 80's with the wording and the thoughts and opinions of Sawyer and Grace. I was just glad to finish this book so I could find something a little faster paced with more chemistry and zing.

Sweet, sassy and completely delightful, readers will have a great big smile on their face while reading Traci Hall’s Just One Kiss.

Grace Sheldon is a free spirit who has always marched to the beat of her own drum. As a freelance photographer, Grace is used to scrimping and saving and she has always managed to work wonders with her very tight budget, however, even somebody as well used to frugality as her cannot possibly manage to find thirty thousand dollars which she desperately needs for the house she has just inherited. Grace needs money and fast and although getting a temp job is not going to give her the cash injection she so desperately needs, she is willing to take whatever she can get. However, on her first day at the office, she quickly realises that she has not stumbled into a typical job and her handsome new boss is certainly anything but average!

Sawyer Rivera has always been sensible and methodical and as far removed from a free spirit as it is possible to get. However, when his career in Seattle imploded and he was left with nothing, Sawyer had had no other choice but to ditch his high powered career and head for a tiny beach town where he planned to open a small dog training facility. Sawyer is looking for an easy and quiet life, however, when Grace walks through his door it becomes abundantly clear that he can kiss serenity goodbye once and for all…even if the more time he spends with Grace, the only thing he finds himself wanting to kiss is her!

Grace – and her pet chickens – has brought some much needed sunshine into his life and heart. The thought of a day spent without her is unthinkable for Sawyer. But with Grace’s temp job about to come to an end, will Sawyer find the courage to tell her how he really feels about her? Is he ready to take a chance on love and life and put his heart on the line? Or is he going to let Grace walk out of his life for good?

A fun, heartwarming and irresistible contemporary romance that sparkles with charm, warmth and wit, Just One Kiss is a lovely read I devoured in one sitting. Traci Hall has written a terrific read with a swoon-worthy hero and a heroine who is absolutely adorable. I loved the banter between the two of them, the zingy humour and the touching romance that kept me gleefully turning the pages.

Traci Hall’s Just One Kiss was the first book of hers I read, but it shall certainly not be my last!

I actually really liked how both Grace and Sawyer annoyed me at times due to their indecisiveness and how I would get frustrated at them especially Grace, the reason I like this is it makes them human and relatable. Both are at a turning point in their lives where what happens next will either cement their life going forward or everything will well fall apart. The attraction they have is undeniable however both try not to act on it as they are working together for the moment at least, but you just never know with these two! Mix in some great friends, a crazy family, supportive brothers (well most of them), cute dogs and and you get a great story with plenty of laughs, eyerolls as well as tension, hope and two people who deserve a happy ever after!

Although this book says that it is part of a series, I found that it could be a stand alone book. Grace is a freelance photographer who has a run in with her neighbor Sawyer, a well known dog trainer. Sawyer is building a dog training facility with the help of his friend and community veterans. Due to being neighbors, Grace and Sawyer continue to run into each other, leading to conversations of awkwardness and quick wit for both parties. I could not wait to see how their relationship might progress. Grace is an independent woman who stays true to her beliefs and fights for those important to her. While reading this book, I felt as if I knew Grace like my own close friend. I did not want it to end.

Thank you Netgalley and Traci Hall for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

3.5***

Grace and Sawyer are a perfect example of opposites attract. He is this rigid, former Marine, stuck to his rules and she is this free spirited, heart in her eyes, artist. But together they balance each other out. Their journey was a short one although special. They were cute and tried to fight their feelings. I think if the book were a little longer, more depth and chemistry could have been found. However, after getting to know Bill, Lottie, the other veterans, Sawyer's brothers, and the adorable Violet, a good base has been set for future stories I would love to read.

Bring dogs into a story and I’m generally a goner and that was certainly the case with Just One Kiss. Golden retriever Bert, who seemed to be almost untrainable at times, certainly stole my heart. The human characters in this story are pretty special too. I loved freelance photographer Grace, who oozes love for Violet, her best friend’s autistic daughter. Her patience and care for Violet shines through but she is just as caring of others in her community. Celebrity dog trainer Sawyer Rivera comes across as a bit of a jerk when he first appears on the page but he redeems himself pretty quickly and it’s soon apparent that this guy is not only good looking but also generous. I loved that he worked with a local veterans group to get his new dog training facility constructed. I also loved the setting on an island in Puget Sound, Washington.
This was a quick read but also an enjoyable one.

I have read several of Traci Hall's books but always written as a team with another author, this was the first time I have read a book just written by this author. This was a fun and lighthearted read, one that doesn't take a lot of deep thinking to keep you guessing what will happen next. Sometimes its nice just to read a simple book like that, because I read so many suspense thrillers its nice to turn to a book that is easy to read without a darkness too it. I am going through so much in my life at the present time, so I needed a quick read that I could just get lost in for a couple hours. I would recommend this book to those looking for a lighthearted read.

I received a copy of a ARC from NetGalley and the publisher and am under no obligation to leave a favorable review, all opinions expressed here are my own.

I love this fun romance novel! Just One Kiss by Traci Hall brings together two very opposite and quite attracted people. First, Sawyer who is on a mission to change his public image ruins Grace's photo on the beach. His out of control, over boisterous dog makes it difficult to get the shot that she wants of this bird she's been watching for weeks so that she can photograph the exact moment the eggs hatch. Of course this wild dog and his handsome owner ruin her shot, and later she finds out that she is scheduled to work for him as a temporary receptionist /secretary in just a couple days. Sparks fly and no matter how they keep it professional, you know there has to be an opportunity for those sparks to lead to a kiss.... eventually.

Grace is a fun woman with a high sense of integrity who grew up in a commune. She is genuine and seems like someone I want for a best friend! Sawyer is opening a new dog obedience training camp to beef up his image and hopefully get the television network to approve his show! He seems to have some shallow sides, but is a good person. Opposites can really make things work or can make things impossible, depends on how things go! I felt that this novel was well written with defined characters, plenty of side characters that make me want to know more about their stories, and the cutest dogs who steal your heart. I really think this book should have come with pictures of all the dogs!

Thank you to NetGalley for this temporary, digital advance review copy for me to read and enjoy. I requested to read this book. My opinions are my own.

I received an advanced copy of this ebook, from the publisher through netgalley, in exchange for an honest review. This book is well written and the characters are described well. I really enjoyed this slow simmering romance between boss and employee. This book is set in Kingston, Washington. It is enjoyable, I absolutely adored Violet's character having Autism representation. I adored every character pretty much. I would highly recommend reading this book to anyone and everyone. This ebook is in stores now for $2.97 (USD).

The blurb intrigued me but once I got to the meaty parts of the story I lost interest and couldn't figure out why the characters should end up together.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book received from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m a huge fan of opposites attract romances. I liked this one but not as much as I wanted to. It was a nice story but it just didn’t enough spark for me.I needed spencer and grace to have more chemistry. There just wasn’t any combustion with them. . Aside from that this was a satisfying read. The story is easy to read and is very smooth flowing. I was looking for more passion in the writing and between both spencer and grace, so that left me a bit disappointed.
