If you're a domestic thriller fan, grab The Perfect Marriage ASAP. Sarah is a super successful lawyer who tries to balance her career with her marriage. Adam her husband is a writer, but feels like second place to Sarah's career. It's no surprise that he starts cheating but when his mistress ends up dead next to him and he is framed for murder, the surprise is that his wife is willing to represent him.

This book kept me guessing until the last page. Just when I thought I cracked it, everything changed. Fantastic writing and an amazing debut.

The narration of Sarah was great but Adam's narrator left a lot to be desired.

Sarah and Adam have a complicated marriage. To say the least. What appears to be polished and shiny from the outside lacks substance and commitment on the inside. Throw in busy careers, infidelity, competitive personalities and now we're getting somewhere. Throughout the course of this thriller I was sure I'd solved it several times, and the story continued to evolve and by time it concluded it all made sense

I love domestic thrillers and stories about coupes, their secrets and what they claim to be their truths. Sarah is a great lawyer and is trying to be a great wife. Adam is trying to be a great husband but feels like he is put on the back burner to Sarah's career. Adam does that coward thing and has an affair. What could go wrong? It's not like he would get caught because his side girl gets killed - right? Wrong. Now Sarah is stuck trying to defend Adam and the reader doesn't know who to believe. I really enjoyed this book and will recommend it to many others. I think it would be a great book club selection.

Despite my enjoyment of domestic thrillers, I didn't feel a connection with any character in The Perfect Marriage.
At the end of the book, I despised most of the characters. The cops and prosecutors being in a fight with each other and getting away with it horrified me. cheating spouses who do the same thing repeatedly irritated me. The murderer did surprise me. I read this on kindle unlimited because I could not download it on netgalley.

This was an honest review.

I literally just finished this book and I'm still like 🤯😲 This was great! It had me hooked from the beginning and was so fast paced. I couldn't put it down! Well, I actually listened to the audio and I couldn't stop listening! I finished in less than a day! Its told through 2 perspectives, Sara and Adam and I loved that. I loved hearing what each was thinking. The writing was great too! There were so many things that kept me guessing throughout and then the ending!! What?! Mind blown! Loved this book and definitely recommend it to any one looking for a great thriller!! I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from Jeneva, including the books under her pen name, J.R. Adler!

The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose, is a thriller that you won’t be able to stop listening to. As an audiobook, it was very engaging and I couldn’t stop listening. This story explores the marriage of Sarah and Adam. Adam has been accused of murdering his lover and Sarah (a highly successful attorney) has decided to defend him. Right away, the cracks are exposed in their marriage and explored. While Sarah is a highly successful attorney, Adam is a “kept” man with a struggling writing career. There are many credible suspects to the murder that are explored throughout the story line. The events between the characters and the narration kept me listening until the very end. Going back and forth between Adam’s and Sarah’s point of view really kept the story engaging as you had the opportunity to hear thoughts/feelings from each. This book keeps you guessing until the very end. I highly recommend this book and thank NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

4.5 stars
This book was such a roller coaster ride of murder, mystery, and meaning of a perfect marriage. This book was told in the povs of Adam and Sarah Morgan. Adam Morgan is a former successful author, while Sarah Morgan is a successful defense attorney and for all intense and purpose, the breadwinner of the duo! Adam sees his marriage as lacking attention and love from his career driven wife. So he decides to turn to Kelly Summers, a woman, who meets not only his physical, but also inspirational needs. But one morning Kelly Summers is found stabbed to death in the Morgan's lake house and the prime suspect is Adam. As Sarah learns about her husband's affair, she is going to have to set those feeling aside and take on her toughest case yet, her husband's. Who really killed Kelly Summers? What is a marriage without trust from those your suppose to love?
This book was really crazy! This story gripped me from the very first page until the very end. The author did a great job leading the readers layer by layer to the big reveal at the very end. I found myself knowing the identity of Kelly's killing very early on, but how it all played out was very entertaining and well crafted. I will not go into more detail because it would give too much away!
Adam and Sarah seemed to both be responsible for what went wrong in their marriage. The lack of communication was a lot of their issue. The writing was a little troublesome in some places, due to the author's choice of using four letter words unnecessarily. I understand those kinds of words are suppose to fit the character and/or situation, but they felt unnecessary for these characters. The ending was well satisfying and wrapped up well! Overall, I would recommend this book to those who love a good murder mystery. I would like to read more books by this author!

Adam is married to Sarah, to which Adam believes Sarah is just too busy in her own life to make anytime for him. So he does what most already think, he find companionship in someone else. That someone else though is Kelly, who is also married. BUT lucky for Adam, Kelly doesn't live in their home town- she lives where they own a vacation house. PERFECT set up for him; that is until Kelly winds you, you guessed it- dead. Then all of a sudden is Adams head on the chopping block with his wife having to be his lawyer. (If I was Sarah- he'd be in need of a new lawyer... cheat on me, and no chance in hell would I help you with anything.) . Either way the whole time I was thinking everyone was a suspect because the town was just sketchy to me. I also think there was a little (maybe a lot) left to be desired in the way the book led up to the trail and collecting evidence to figure out whodunnit- but there was barely any of the trail itself. Either way it was an enjoyable book to listen to on my way to and from work. Thank you NetGalley.

A very enjoyable domestic thriller filled with lots of twists, turns and surprises. The Perfect Marriage by new to me author Jeneva Rose explores the marriage of a couple who, on the surface, appear to have it all. Attorney Sarah and writer Adam have been married for several years. The reality is Adam is struggling with his career and Sarah is the primary financial contributor to the household, which Adam deeply resents. He resents the time Sarah spends away from him working. Sarah purchases a vacation home for them where Adam goes on the weekends supposedly to clear his head and get some writing done. Instead, he begins an affair with a local girl who is married to one of the sheriff’s deputies.

Everything changes for Adam when the murdered body of his mistress is discovered in the bedroom of the vacation house and Adam is subsequently arrested and charged for the crime. Everything changes for Sarah when she learns about Adam’s arrest and decides to defend him at his trial.

First of all, let me start out with a big BOO HOO for Adam. None of this would have happened if he had just manned up and quit whining about what is missing in his life and instead tried to be a little more appreciative for Sarah carrying the burden. The writing isn’t working for you? How about get off your behind and get a different job? It would be an understatement to say that I found Adam to be less than likable and felt minimal sympathy for him.

As the story progresses and my shock that Sarah is willing to defend him subsides, the question of Adam’s guilt becomes more of an issue as several potential suspects exist which left me wondering if Adam really committed this murder or if he was being set up. Everyone from Kelly’s husband, a creepy stalkerish customer of Kelly’s, to the sheriff himself appeared to have motive and opportunity as well. This story kept me engaged all the way to the end.

In addition to the interesting plot, I thought the characters were well developed and interesting. In addition to Sarah and Adam, there was Adam’s mother who was completely awful to Sarah throughout the entire book. Sarah’s friend Matthew was entertaining and characters from Sarah’s firm brought more depth to the story.

My Final Verdict: I highly recommend this story to fans of the suspense and thriller genres as well as readers who enjoy stories that pull out all the stops to provide the reader with numerous twists that keep the reader in a state of heightened anticipation for what is coming next.

I have mixed feelings about this one.

Things I liked:
- The unique approach to the ending
- In general, Sarah’s character: she was pretty well-developed, interesting, and seemed like an actual human being

Things I Didn’t Like:
- Adam: He was a whiny, entitled jerk & every single time he did or said something I wanted him to stop. He’s literally being charged with murdering his mistress & he’s complaining that his wife, who is defending him, is not acting like herself. Get out of here, you fool. He started off like that & only got worse and worse.
- The characters, especially Adam used described themselves so weirdly. It wasn’t my in a natural way that & it really distracted me from the story as a whole. He would say something along the lines of ‘Then I out on my long, tan coat with matching gloves that I got from my college roommate for Christmas last year.’ It was unnecessary, didn’t serve the story, and wasn’t natural fit a human person to be speaking that way.

Ultimately, I really liked the premise of this & I thought the ending was interesting, but I struggled with the writing style and characters a bit. However, everyone has different aspects of books that are the make or break things, so this might be an awesome read for someone else.

A book that I promise you will NOT guess the ending! I went into this one knowing that and thought I had figured it out. Boy was I wrong! I absolutely loved the voices in this audiobook. I found myself listening to this anytime I could. Fantastic!

At first this appears to be a "typical" mystery. But it quickly dissolves into a very complex story of deceit and strategy. A highly-regarded attorney learns that her writer husband has been arrested for the murder of his mistress. She surprisingly agrees to defend him. He's desperate to find the killer because he knows he didn't do it. And, his meddling mother is making things more difficult. Any number of possible killers exist, and it seems almost insurmountable to discover the real culprit. This book will draw you into a complicated maze where no one is beyond suspicion. A very intriguing read!

This book although had my attention was slow to start. I love the two narrators!! It was an easy, but fantastic listen!! Every time I thought I had it figured out I was definitely proved wrong. Received audiobook via NetGalley for my honest opinion.

The Perfect Marriage gripped me from the start. In this book we follow Sarah, a workaholic attorney and her husband, Adam, a struggling writer during one of the worst moments in their lives. Adam was having an affair with a woman named Kelly. All was well until Kelly was found in Adam and Sarah's lakehouse stabbed to death. Now Adam is being accused of a murder he claims he didn't commit.

I really enjoy thrillers when I can't figure out the ending. I did not see this ending coming. Overall I loved the plot, everything was perfectly paced and I didn't feel there were any parts that slowed down. The author created the perfect amount of twists that it wasn't overwhelming.

As for the characters, I didn't like Adam. He was the perfect character for this role, you wanted to hate him, but you also had that little part in you that felt bad for him. I loved Sarah, she was strong throughout this whole ordeal and stood by Adam regardless.

I read this book as an audiobook. I feel like Neil Hellegers and Teri Schnaubelt gave this book life and perfectly portrayed the roles they were reading.

I was intrigued by the plot and had high expectations for this upon hearing other reviews. What a let down it was. It was still an entertaining read, but with the unreliable characters, unrealistic procedures, and disappointing twists that were obvious, what could have been a great book, just fell flat.
