The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose just may be the perfect legal thriller. I found myself just sitting in my apartment listening to this audiobook because I absolutely had to know where the story was going. There are immediate twists and turns that kept me guessing. I was never able to figure it out, which is perfect. I hate when I read a thriller and figure it out before the author tells me, but with Rose's novel, everything was a surprise. If you like quick legal thrillers, you MUST add this to your TBR. You'll be thinking about it long after.

Thank you @NetGalley and @Dreamscape_Media for the audio copy of this book!

This was one heck of a debut novel for Jeneva Rose. I saw on here where someone asked her if she would be having any more books coming out and she replied that she has a few just trying to find a publisher to pick them up. Publishers...what are you waiting for? I think Jeneva Rose is the next great thing of reading/writing! You'll want your name to be attached to her!

This book was full of characters! You have a few main characters, but you also have a few sub characters as well. You have your perfect over-worked but majorly successful wife. You have your underworked (or totally non-working) entitled but supposedly supportive husband. You have your gay best friend that says anything, even if it hurts. You have your needy, attached to your hip assistant. You have your angry Sherriff's Deputy. You have your victim...obviously, that doesn't have the prettiest past. You have the annoying mother-in-law who couldn't possibly think her son could or would ever do anything wrong. You have your jealous co-worker who wants everything that you have...see what I mean? It's a great, diverse cast of characters!

So the story begins leading you believe the marriage between Sarah and Adam Morgan is perfect, hense the title The Perfect Marriage, and you hear if from differing, back and forth perspectives of both Sarah and Adam. I really appreciated the story going back and forth between the two so you had a good idea what each one was thinking/feeling.

I started to kind of guess some of the ending...sort of. Well, I'll just say I thought about it while reading, but the very end TOTALLY threw me for a loop! HOLY COW that was some ending! I'll just leave it at that!!

This book was narrated by dual narrators, Neil Hellegers as Aaron and Teri Schnaubelt as Sarah. I think they were a great pair that really helped make the story!

Overall, I CANNOT wait to see what else Jeneva Rose has in store for us! Mark my words...this girls is going to be something BIG!!!!

I would like to offer a HUGE THANK YOU to Netgalley, Jeneva Rose and Dreamscape Media, LLC for providing me with a copy of The Perfect Marriage, which has allowed me to provide you with this honest and unbiased review.

Sarah Morgan is a successful defense attorney and a partner at her firm while her husband, Adam, is a struggling writer. Adam enjoys their lifestyle, but despises Sarah’s work ethics and for the past year Adam has been seeing Kelly Summers. Their lives turn upside down when Adam is arrested for the murder of Kelly, Sarah becomes his attorney and takes on his case. I was quite intrigued & wanted to like this one, but unfortunately it fell flat for me. Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.

THE ENDING OF THIS BOOK!!! Oh man, I did not expect this book to turn out at all how it did. From the beginning something is definitely off, that much is obvious. The twists within really make me want to re-read this one just to see if there is any way I could have picked up any hints. I love stories like this and the narrator was great.

Wow! I did not see that coming!
This was a fast one because I couldn't put it down! I can wait to see what else this author comes up with!

Thanks for NetGalley for letting me read this in return for my honest opinion.

I had high hopes for this one, multiple people told me I would love it, I was sure myself that I’d love it, but, unpopular opinion here, I really didn’t.

The narrators themselves were good but the language in audio form sounded a bit like listening to a soap opera with lots of swearing. Swearing doesn’t normally bother me in a book but it felt like every second sentence here had an F bomb thrown in which just felt excessive and forced.

I felt the clues were probably also easier to pick up in audio than if I’d been reading the book as I guessed two of the twists quite early on which I don’t know if I would have had I been reading.

The ending felt rushed compared to the rest of the book and while good in some ways (I enjoyed the time jump ahead) I felt it was greatly lacking in others. There were a number of plot holes that left me with unanswered questions.

I did enjoy the fact we didn’t find out the main twist until the very end as this kept me listening.

This thriller had so, so much promise but for me it just didn’t hit the mark.

2.5 stars rounded up to 3.

Sarah Morgan is a criminal defense attorney and her husband, Adam, is an author. Seemingly on opposite ends of their career successes, with Sarah being at the top of her game and Adam clearly struggling. Adam feels neglected by Sarah, who is frequently working, and he begins an affair. One morning changes the lives of the Morgan’s forever, as his mistress is found stabbed to death in Adam and Sarah’s bed at their lake house.

A thrilling ride of whodunnit begins keeping you on your toes. Every clue leading you to suspect someone else. Did Adam kill his mistress? Or was he framed? You have to read to the very end to find out!

Thrillers are the best for audiobooks because you are literally hanging on every word. I’d strongly encourage you to take the time and give this book a chance. 5 out of 5 stars.

I was lucky enough to get an audio review copy from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media.

I was so excited to receive this book via Netgalley as an audiobook. I was about five chapters in when the audio file started going wonky and I couldn't get it to stop double playing so I went ahead and bought the Kindle version of the book from Amazon. I ended up staying up super late and finished reading the book in one sitting. The Perfect Marriage is a twisted, yet satisfying read with the most intriguing characters. Sarah Morgan is a high powered defense attorney and is married to Adam, a writer. Adam has been cheating on Sarah with a waitress named Kelly and one day Kelly is found dead at the couple's lake house right after a late-night tryst with Adam.
This book was a complete page-turner. I couldn't wait to find out if Adam killed Kelly or if it was her hotheaded husband Scott. The ending was, in fact, the best part and would actually warrant a rereading of the book knowing what I know of all of the characters now. I associated with the main character Sarah because of her Type-A personality and found that I did not feel bad for Adam at all. A fantastic read for lovers of suspense and mystery.

Thank you to Netgalley, Jeneva Rose, and Dreamscape Media for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3*

Adam Morgan is accused of killing his mistress. His wife defends him in court. Adam Morgan is a complete ass with an awful mother. Many plot holes.

Narrators did a fine job. I only kept listening as I needed something to keep my attention while painting furniture.

I enjoyed the narration in this audiobook. The story however was ultimately disappointing. It started off promising and I was into the premise. I didn’t predict the “twist” but felt it left a lot to be desired. There were so many plot holes and the ending felt rushed.

I enjoyed this story immensely and even though it took me some time to warm up to the Adam Morgan narrator, I enjoyed having the two different narrators. I especially enjoyed the ending. Highly recommend!

Oh my! Almost at a loss for words...Almost!

I was really looking forward to this audio, as domestic thrillers are one of my favorites to lose myself in.

Well this one sadly did not live up to my expectations.

Adam is having an affair. His wife Sarah is too busy at her law firm to have time for him so he looks elsewhere for his companionship. And the woman he falls for just happens to live in the town where Adam and Sarah have a vacation home. Well that’s convenient! Oh yeah, did I mention this woman Kelly also happens to be married!?💁🏻♀️

When Kelly turns up dead, of course Adam is the prime suspect right off the bat. And Sarah needs to step in as his lawyer to save him.

Eeks!😱

I thought the premise sounded terrific and was chomping at the bit to listen to this audio. Unfortunately it just fell far short of my high hopes.

Was it the storyline? Perhaps. I felt no real connection or empathy towards any of the characters.

Could it have been the audio version? Maybe. When I listen to an audiobook I want the narrators to breathe life into the characters and make them real. I didn’t feel that at all.

There are a lot of mixed reviews for this book so I truly hope you enjoy this one more than I did.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an 🎧 To review

Did not see that twisted ending coming! You are drawn into the plot innocent and trusting only to be left satisfied with a shocking conclusion.

The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose

Brief Summary: Sarah is a high powered defense attorney and her husband Adam is a struggling author. When his mistress is found stabbed to death at their lake house, Sarah defends her husband in his murder trial. Told in alternating viewpoints; this thriller will keep you guessing.

Highlights: I don’t give a thriller 5 stars unless I’m stunned at the end. This rating is well deserved. The premise is really unique with some really brilliant twists I didn’t see coming. As you can see from the quotes below, she also writes relatable characters. I am a high achieving female who could appreciate Sarah’s position and some of the relationship dynamics. This stunning debut didn’t get the press or recognition it deserved. I flew through this in less than 48 hours. Trust me thriller enthusiasts; you won’t want to miss this one.

I loved the alternating viewpoints of the audiobook narrative; which really brought Sarah and Adam to life.

Explanation of Rating: 5/5; I would give this one more than five starts if I could. What a stunning debut. Can’t wait for the tv miniseries!

Favorite Quotes: “You don’t get to be the best criminal defense attorney by loving your husband.” “That’s the thing about relationships, you never know what’s going on in them, unless you’re a part of them. Just like no one will ever know what happened between Adam and me. We all have our own truth and everything outside that truth is just a story.” “I always felt like Sarah was taking on the world while I was just struggling to live in it. That’s the woman she wanted to be, a powerhouse, a one-woman show where I just happen to be cast as an extra.”

I found this a very middle-of-the-road mystery, but did like the writer's style and would happily read more of their works in the future!
the audiobook was very well done and the narrators really fell into their roles and did a good job showing the needed emotion for the story being told.

🎧 The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose

This was a wild and entertaining story. Adam finds himself the main suspect in a murder investigation after his mistress is killed in his home. Lucky (or unlucky) for him, his wife Sarah is a top criminal defence lawyer.

I loved this story. There are amazing twists, unexpected character developments and the perfect amount of suspense. I was never sure who I was supposed to be cheering for or who was guilty of what. I thought I knew what was going to happen, but was wrong, and then wrong again, and then gave up guessing and just enjoyed the ride. This is my ideal type of thriller, mysterious and creepy but not terrifying. I highly recommend this one!

Thank you to @netgalley and @dreamscape_media for this audiobook!

If you don’t already follow @jenevaroseauthor you should start. Some people on the internet think this story is based on real life, and her and her husbands reactions are hilarious.

This was an average thriller for me, however audiobook was definitely the way to go. The narration was amazing, and it definitely made me feel far more invested in the plot than I might have otherwise been had I physically read it.

Our main character, Sarah Morgan, works as a defense attorney in Washington DC. Career-wise thing are going great, marriage-wise not so much. Sarah's husband, Adam, is a struggling writer who had always stood in Sarah's professional shadow. As a result Adam begins an affair with Kelly Summers. But when Kelly is found brutally murdered, Sarah has to take on her most challenging case ever...defending her husband. Is Adam guilty? Not guilty? Or is there more to the story?

Great, awesome, keeps you guessing. The end threw me through a loop. Was not expecting it at all. . Loved how they changed between the two narrators.

This book was so much fun! As a lawyer, I really connected with trying to imagine what it would be like to find out your husband was unfaithful, accused of murdering his mistress, and you are your husband’s defense lawyer. Could I, should I... be stoic enough to put aside my own hurt and defend him?! And why does our protagonist decide to do just that?

You will love to hate this cheating ass of a villain. Seriously, there’s nothing redeeming about him at all. He's a shallow, lying, cheating, waif who doesn't contribute anything to the household - with a mommy who still calls him ridiculous names. And that mother in law! Our main character Sarah really does her best to put up her. I'm not sure I could.

Even with the intolerable husband and MIL, you won't be able to put this book down. It gets crazy fast, and everyone makes some very questionable decisions. It's like watching a very fascinating train wreck. This book is so addictive! And the ending - wow! Great job Jeneva! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Thank you to Netgalley for my free audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a classic thriller, you may think you know what happened, but the ending will leave you totally shocked. If you are a die hard thriller reader, this book would be worth a read.

Synopsis; Adam discovers his girlfriend has been brutally murdered in his bed. But the best defense attorney in town is his wife, Sarah! Will she prove his innocence, or will she realize she married a murderer?

I gave this book three stars because I really could not stand the male character. I loved Sarah, but Adam is so insufferable, he really thinks he is the ladies man. The writing contained many swear words and had gratuitous comments about sexual prowess that were really not necessary.
