I know I'm in the minority, but I did not love this book. I accidentally downloaded the audio version, and to be fair, this was my first time listening to an audiobook. I am sure I would have liked it a lot better if I was able to read it, since I get distracted and like to go back and reference sections. The narrators' voices didn't fit what I had in my head, and I actually flinched every time the woman narrating Sarah (the wife) read a man's voice, especially the southern drawl of the Sheriff. I also felt the dialogue was a little cliché in parts, and that the narrator for the husband (Alex) withheld in reading the angry parts. The story was pretty flat throughout, but I did add points for the action and twist at the end.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced reader's copy for review.

The Perfect Marriage review!

Adam’s mistress is found dead in his bed. He swears he didn’t do it. His wife is the only that can save him. Will she do it? This is a solid thriller. It’s a page turner that made me suspect each character at some point. Though, the ending wasn’t a jaw dropper, it was somewhat surprising. I finished in one afternoon because I couldn’t put it down. It also had some steam which is always fun 😆. The characters did drive me insane. Especially Adam’s mother. She was impossible! So prepare to hate literally all the characters! 3/5⭐️

This book, especially as an audioboook, was absolutely fantastic. I typically take pride in being able to guess the ending of a mystery or thriller, but I did NOT see that coming. Seriously, if you are looking for something fresh that will keep you in suspense the entire time, I would highly recommend checking out The Perfect Marriage. The audiobook was also very enjoyable and would definitely listen to something from the narrators again.

This was the perfect book to start the new year! Wow! Loved this domestic thriller and its twists and turns. This was a stellar “who done it” mystery just teeming with suspense. I sped through this audiobook in a day. The audio performance was brilliant with two different narrators representing the two main characters Adam and Sara. The plot alternates between Adam, Sara’s husband suspected of killing his mistress, and Sara, a top notch lawyer representing her husband Adam. Unreliable characters combined with a dynamic plot and layers of deceit made this story a fun and riveting read. A gracious thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for an advanced audio version in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my audiobook. A Perfect Marriage is a twisty domestic thriller that will keep you in suspense until the final twist. Is Adam guilty, or is someone else responsible for the murder? This is one of many questions dominating this puzzling whodunnit. The narration added a level of enjoyment and propelled the story to the breathtaking conclusion. Deception, betrayal and suspicion are perfectly executed as the mystery starts to unravel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. Didn't work for me at all. Not one likeable or redeemable character, unrealistic story and use of legal procedures.

This superior absolutely engrossing book The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose deserves a perfect five stars! Though the story may be your typical domestic thriller. Husband cheats on wife. Husband's mistress is found dead. Husband is the main suspect. Wife defends husband. The wife's job as a defense attorney is taking off while the husband's writing career plummets. Meet the couple Sarah and Adam Morgan. From the outside, it may look like everything seems perfect in the marriage, but from the inside, ugly secrets fester. Their quiet life was disturbed when Adam's lover, Kelly Summers, was found stabbed to death in their second home, a lake house in Virginia. Is Adam capable of killing the woman he is having an affair with whom he claims she loves? Sarah has decided to defend her philandering husband, find out the truth, and possibly, help set him free.

I know, if you were like me, my first reaction is WTF? Why would she do that? I've read so many mystery, thriller, and suspense novels, particularly domestic and psychological thrillers, to know that Sarah has a motive why she decided to defend the husband who cheated on her and destroyed their marriage. I was able to deduce from the beginning who killed Kelly Summers. While some of you might no longer enjoy the book because you easily found that out, in my case, that made me all the more interested in the book. Because for me, it's no longer the whodunit that satisfies me (believe me with all the books, TV shows, and podcasts I've read, listened to, and watched) but the unfolding of the story. It's the HOW and WHY that makes these types of novels interesting. Jeneva Rose did a solid job with how the story unfolded. Each and every scene is important to the events following. Every character has played an important role in the impact of the main and supporting characters on the roles that they play and on how the story progresses and eventually ends.

The book is told through two voices: Sarah and Adam. I appreciated that for the audiobook, the creators had chosen two narrators for a male and female character. Both Teri Schnaubelt and Neil Hellegers have brought Sarah and Adam to life. Their voice matches the characters' persona. Their pronunciation clear. The recording clear. There is not a single moment that I have lost interest while I was listening. I also enjoyed and appreciated immensely how the author had narrated the story and brilliantly chosen whose voice is going to narrate it. There is one chapter where Sarah is doing most of the action but it was Adam's thoughts I am listening to. This is very interesting how the author has written it this way. To me, this is very brilliant and intelligent of the author to do. I guess this is the author's writing signature.

Are you a fan of domestic psychological thriller? Do you enjoy observing or studying human behavior? The interesting relationship between a doting mother and her son? The friendship between women at work. The relationship between the mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law. A husband having an affair and he is in love with the woman he is having an affair with. I guarantee you will devour this book in a day or two. I just started a new career and I'm still in training. I have a lot of modules to learn and study. Despite all of that, I was still able to finish the book in just a couple of days. It's that good. What a great way to start 2021 with a brilliantly written domestic psychological thriller novel!

My sincerest gratitude to NetGalley, publisher Dreamscape Media, and author Jeneva Rose for providing me an advance digital copy of the audiobook. All reviews are voluntary, honest, and my own.

I was sucked into this book immediately, and I couldn't put it down. The story flew by, and I was definitely intrigued to see where it went. There are enough suspects and unlikeable characters that the book keeps you guessing until the end.

The narration was excellent, with just the right inflections and emotion. Each character had distinct voices so it was easy to tell them apart and just sink into the story.

And what a story it was. There are some things that came across as unrealistic regarding the police work and legal process, like autopsy and DNA results coming in overnight or a spouse as defense council. Some of the people's actions and dialog were also forced and unnatural. But it was really easy to overlook those minor things because the story was intriguing and such a great concept. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Many thanks to NetGalley and DreamscapeMedia for an ARC.

Thank you Jeneva Rose, Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the #gifted copy of this audiobook.

Sarah and Adam have a perfect marriage... or do they? Adam’s mistress Kelly turns up dead in their lake home and he’s the last one to see her alive; his only hope at freedom is his top notch criminal defense attorney wife Sarah. Can they figure out who really killed Kelly and set Adam free?

If you’re looking for a thriller that will have you guessing up until the very end, this is an amazing option!! There are some great twists along the way, which will have you scratching you head and trying to solve this case alongside Sarah & Adam. And don’t worry... this isn’t a story you’re likely to solve along the way!

The story is told from the POV of both Sarah & Adam, letting us see into the depth of their feelings and also into the case as it unfolds. This is a fast paced read and will have you hanging on the edge of your seat. Expect the unexpected with this one, especially the fourth into the book you get!!!

𝙰𝚞𝚍𝚒𝚘𝚋𝚘𝚘𝚔 𝚃𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚜: Since this book is told from the POV of both Sarah & Adam, I appreciated that there were two narrators for this story. Each narrator had a clear and easy to listen to voice, which really help bring the personalities of their characters out in the reading of this story.

No, no, nopety, no.

First, I am no pearl clutcher but this book is vulgar. Like cringy vulgar.

And second, it was interesting enough but it has more plot holes than Nana's afghan.

I thank the publisher for gifting me a copy but this one wasn't for me.

YES, JENEVA ROSE - thank you! You have somewhat restored my faith in female authors in the thriller genre! FINALLY, in my last book of 2020, there is a book about a strong female character! Not an unreliable female narrator, not a woman who is a drunk, not a woman who acts so completely stupid that you can't stand it!

This was an interesting story that moved a bit slowly in the beginning and middle, but got much better in the end! Perhaps because it was an audiobook; perhaps it was the story itself? The narration was good and it was engaging. This is absolutely a worthwhile read!

I'm closing out 2020 with the audiobook of The Perfect Marriage, and WOW, this book closes out my reading year with a bang. I cannot believe The Perfect Marriage is Jeneva Rose's debut novel. A wild ride from start to finish, this book is well-paced and very satisfying.

Top defense attorney Sarah Morgan is the best at, and in control of, everything in her life. Her husband Adam, on the other hand, is a struggling author whose mistress is found dead in the bed of Adam and Sarah's lakehouse. Sloppy policework, an overbearing mother-in-law, and betrayal from everyone she trusts won't keep Sarah from defending Adam; after all, Sarah is the best.

Without giving away anything, I'm afraid I can't say much else about the plot. Instead, I will just leave my opinion that The Perfect Marriage is a book domestic thriller lovers will absolutely devour. The audiobook narrators for Sarah and Adam were both easy to understand and easy to listen to. I will admit, I always change the audio speed to speed up the audio.

So, why 4 stars instead of 5 stars? First, a couple of minor frustrations: There are a couple of events in the book that seem unexplained, and I wondered if I missed something, or if the author intended to come back and do something with these events, but then did not. Likewise, I wondered if such a small group of characters really could have so many individuals with anger issues; there are a number of characters who either completely lose their temper or fantasize about taking out their anger in violent ways. More importantly in my rating, there is a significant time jump near the end of the book, and after spending so many detailed hours with the characters, I felt a little cheated by losing so much time with Sarah and Adam when we jump ahead at the end.

A most important note in my rating: I decided to give this book 4 stars instead of 5 stars primarily because of the language and the graphic descriptions. The story is so good; I feel like the plot and characters could have held up without these unnecessary excesses, although I can see that the author probably included some of it to help create the personalities of the characters.

Thank you to NetGalley, Ms. Rose, and Dreamscape media for an opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for my honest review. The Perfect Marriage was published on Dec 29, 2020.

Wow. I feel like I got slapped by that epilogue!

The Perfect Marriage follows a married couple as the husband's mistress is found dead, stabbed multiple times, in their own bed at their second house where Adam spend most of his time. Sarah, his wife is a really good lawyer and even though he's a cheater, she decides to defend him because she doesn't believe he killed Kelly.

At first, it seems like it's not very complex and is pretty straight forward as to "who did it" but the more I listened to this audiobook, the more I suspected everyone. That last chapter killed me as I never saw it happened. You can bet I'm going to remember that ending for a long time! I still don't know how to feel about it but what I know is that I couldn't put down this book and I'm glad I read it. If Jeneva Rose publishes something else, I'll definitely check it out.

(Thank you for letting me read and review an ARC via Netgalley)

Leaving 2020 with a bang with this one! I love a good courtroom drama and this one did not disappoint. Infidelity, murder, multiple suspects, red herrings, prison escapes, this book had it all. It was a very entertaining story. I actually listened to the audiobook when I was working around the house and would read the Kindle version when I could sit down and read. I needed to find out who did it! I have never done that with a book before. The narrators were great and easy to listen to. One of my top books of 2020!

This is a story about betrayal.

I’m torn on how to rate & review this book. On the one hand,I hated all of the characters, and felt both irritated & amused by the blatantly unprofessional conduct displayed... and on the other hand I appreciated the twist at the end. Overall, an okay book.

Thank you so much Netgalley & Dreamscape Media for this advanced LRC!

What would you do if you found out your was in police custody for murdering his mistress? Would you divorce him murder him yourself or defend him as Sarah Morgan does? Sarah and her husband Adam take turns narrating their story in The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose. I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook which featured a voice actor for each of them.

The Perfect Marriage was filled with twists that made me want to continue listening to see how the next played out. I’ve read many of this thriller style and can usually guess how they end, but I was surprised in the end!

Loved this book! Gripped me from the start. Loved the narrators, they did a really good job portraying the characters. Wait until you get to the ending, a twist you won’t see coming! Thank you Dreamscape, Netgalley, and Jeneva Rose for this 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 rating book!

I had been wanting to read The Perfect Marriage every since I saw a ffriend rave about it a few months back. So when I saw the Audiobook pop up on Netgalley I was all over that! Thrillers are my favorite on Audio and this one was soooo good! The book itself was phenomenal, and the narration by Neil Hellegers and Teri Schnaubelt just put it over the top.

This was the most addictive book that I have read/listened to in a while. A lot of thrillers have a wife/husband/murder thing going on, but Jeneva Rose put such a fresh spin on it! I was immediately pulled in and hanging on every twist till the end. I was suspicious of everyone at some point in the book... I love it when I can not see the end coming like I did with this one! Sarah was such a badass, and also a saint for dealing with her witch of a Mother-In-Law with such class like she did. And Adam made for such an unlikeable character, what a creep!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media for my copy of this Audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Adam Morgan has been accused of murdering his mistress. Kelly's body was found in his lake house, hours after he left her side. Adam claims he is innocent, and is now relying on his lawyer to prove it. The only problem is, his wife is his lawyer.
Sarah Morgan is one of the best defense attorneys in Washington. If anyone can clear Adams name, it is her. But how does she separate her feelings of betrayal and love for Adam, from all of the evidence pointing to him as the killer?

I read The Perfect Marriage as an audiobook. Listening to the story told from two narratives, with two performers is always a treat. Both performers did an excellent job as their character, and were completely believable.
The story has everything needed to be a great thriller, but unfortunately didn't thrill me. Hints of police cover up, drugged memory loss, and revenge that all fell flat. Even the big plot twist at the end, which should have blown me away, wasn't shocking.
I had a hard time with Adams character. He is an entitled idiot, which makes him an unrealistic match for Sarah. Sarah is a force, and seems to have always been in charge, so why would she pick such him? It really bugged me. I needed more of a whit match.
Unfortunately this one didn't do it for me.

WOW! What a WILD ride! This Audiobook was exceptional to say the least! It was fast-paced, interesting, suspenseful, and a thriller (my fav genre)! The Perfect Marriage? No no no, not so perfect after all. This story is told in two different perspectives - Sarah (a highly successful criminal attorney) and her husband - Adam (a successful writer). Sarah is shocked when her husband is arrested for a murder …. the murder of his … MISTRESS! Sarah decides to represent Adam and slowly uncovers everything that he has been hiding. This makes it very difficult to defend him, which leads him to be sentenced to the death penalty after serving some time in prison. This books ending shocked me and kept me captivated throughout! The story was very well thought-out and written to say the least, especially all the surprise plot twists at the end! If you haven’t already, I highly recommend picking this one up to read or listen to! Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to review this audiobook.
