Such a good book, I would love to read more from this world. I enjoyed the story and the mystery. It was a great journey. Also, I have read a ton of mystery books and didn’t guess this one! It’s neat when a story does that! Great book thank you NetGalley for allowing me the chance to read this.

I thought that this was good! I have seen this author's books around for years and have always wanted to try her work. I thought that this would be the perfect one to start with as soon as I saw it. I was in the mood for a cozy and one involving a witch sounds especially appealing. I found this book to be incredibly entertaining.

Mia has just moved back to Magic Springs and is just about to open a new catering business. She is planning to provide food for a birthday party and the customer is being rather difficult. Things get even worse when the customer is killed and people start pointing the finger at Mia. She still needs to get her building approved to open for business and a local man, Trent, is ready to jump in and help get things done.

I had a great time with this one. There were several different mysteries to solve in this book and they all kept me guessing. I was never quite sure who Mia should trust and who was responsible for the crimes. There was plenty of excitement in this book and times when I wondered if Mia would be able to stay safe. I did think that the paranormal aspects of the story were more toned down than I would have expected but there is a bit sprinkled throughout the story.

Angie Hickman did a fantastic job with the narration. I thought that she did a fantastic job bringing life to Mia's character. I thought that she added a lot of excitement to the story and I liked the variety of voices that she used for the various characters. She has a very pleasant voice, and I found this book easy to listen to for hours at a time. I feel like her narration added to my overall enjoyment of the story.

I would recommend this book to others. I thought that this was a fun cozy mystery with fantastic characters. I definitely plan to read more of Lynn Cahoon's work in the future.

I received a digital review copy of this audiobook from Tantor Audio via NetGalley.

Definitely a great reading and an excellent story. An original take on a witch cozy that makes good sense as well having excellent entertainment value. Mia is a character with depth while at the same time she is very relatable with a wonderful dream and a horrible ex-boyfriend. I enjoyed this so much that I went back and read the novella prequel that leads Mia to her new home and her new business venture. More than one mystery in this story and a very good cliffhanger of an ending. I look forward to checking out the next installment and maybe even getting myself a kitchen witch to look over me while I cook.

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* Wasnt bad, was overall a good cozy mystery, there was small things i didnt care for (mostly when talking about the "young lady" who they also call a teen, childish, and so on, always love the "only immature people have facial piercings" trope, as someone who had them as a teen ive totally never get tired of reading it *super sarcastic btw*.

After losing her long term boyfriend and her job, Mia Malone, a kitchen witch, decided it was time for a fresh start, bringing her to Magic Spring, Idaho. She bought an old school where she lived with her roommate Christina, whom also happens to be the sister of her ex, and started her own catering business called Mias' Morsels. Her grandmother, now close by, had even set her up with her first client, also one of her Grans best friends. Unfortunately, the morning of the event, tragedy struck. The body of her first client was found. On top of that, Mia became the prime suspect. This theory doesn't sit well with Mia, as she now seems to become the next target as things suddenly start to happen to her. With her new friend and possible love interest Trent by her side, Mia is bound and determined to not only prove her innocence, but catch whomever is now suddenly after her. Can Mia get to the bottom of this before she ends up being the next victim? Is there any way her business is going to stand a chance and finally take off despite all the negative hits towards it?
This was an audio book read. I really enjoyed this and the narrator did an excellent job. I really enjoy cozy mysteries and this one was another great read. It was a really fun book and a very easy read. This was my first read by Lynn Cahoon and it most definitely won't be the last! I read this in 2 days because I just had a hard time putting it down! Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book! I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I rate this book ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫

Oh my Goddess-this was a fun book! A magical cozy murder mystery with love and food incorporated in this spellbinding book.. The author has spun a multitude of possible future stories within this story-so I (fingers crossed) hope there are many more additions in the kitchen witch series!

A mixture of witchy magic and murder mystery? Yes, please! This is the first book in a new series, Kitchen Witch Mysteries, and I thought it was so much fun!

Mia has just moved back to her grandmother’s town where people know that there is magic, creating an open and inviting environment, for the most part. At her first job in the new town, someone is murdered and she becomes not only a suspect but also next on the killer’s hit list!

I really liked the town this is set in. It’s fun to have the magic out in the open with lots of witches and warlocks to interact with. I think this will provide an entire series of fun characters to learn about and feature.

There are some wonderful family bonding moments between Mia and her grandmother, and I really enjoyed that relationship. There’s also a wonderful pairing with Mia and her ex-fiance's sister. They have a great relationship.

The plot was exciting, and it kept me on my toes. There are some twists and turns to keep it exciting. There are a few sexy scenes that might be a bit much for a cozy, but it’s very short in duration, and overall was still pretty darn clean.

I had the chance to listen to the audio of this one, and I thought the narrator did a great job! She had a good cadence, and I enjoyed her character voices.

Overall, this was a fun cozy mystery, and I think that it’s going to be a great series! I can’t wait for more!!

I was provided a gifted copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Like cozy mysteries? Well there are several to try to solve. Mia is a Kitchen Witch, which is a good witch. She is fairly new in town, but her grandmother lives here and she is ready to start a new adventure by opening her own catering business. That didn’t start of so well when her obnoxious client is found murder under one of the dining room tables. And this is only one of many more mysteries to figure out. More magical powers, attempted murder, who to trust and the annoying ex-boyfriend returns. That’s just for starter.

Cozy fans will feel right at home with Lynn Cahoon's Kitchen Witch series.

One Poison Pie was a satisfying, stick-to-your-ribs kind of cozy mystery. It checked off everything on my cozy mystery wishlist, but threw in a few fun surprises along the way. I appreciated that every character was well-introduced -- well, right up until the end, where we are left with a few questions to be answered! The mysteries are solved, justice is served, but the book leaves just enough unsaid that there can be plenty of sequels. I didn't guess the killer, but of course, everything clicked into place at the big reveal.

Really, this one had it all. A murder to solve, some side mysteries, a colorful cast of characters, a few laughs, romance, intrigue, and secrets big and small. And food! Can't forget the food. It was an easy to read buffet of everything you'd expect and want in a cozy mystery.

However, it did take a long time for the magic part to gain traction in this story. I actually forgot this was a paranormal cozy until about halfway through. Maybe there will be more magic in the rest of the series, but this first installment was rather light on the paranormal. I'm still not exactly sure what a Kitchen Witch does with her magic, and I don't think Mia does either. Perhaps this is part of a larger universe and I'd have a better grasp of the magical aspect if I had read other books by this author.

The main character wasn't such a great sleuth. She didn't set out to solve mysteries, though; she just kind of fell into it. She's a caterer making a fresh start, after all, not a budding gumshoe! It's not her fault that she got tangled up with Magic Springs' curmudgeonly murder victim -- or is it? I felt that the fact that she missed a lot of big clues actually worked in the book's favor since it allowed the reader to feel cleverer than the main character. Plenty of opportunity to groan, "I told you so!"

This may be a bit of a spoiler, but I'm not sure where this title came from, except that the "One" implies that this is the beginning of a series. There was a brief mention of pie during an event planning scene, but no poison. I also expected Mr. Darcy to play a much larger role, considering his fascinating backstory. Maybe next time.

I listened to the audiobook version. The narrator did a great job with the pacing, but the voices were not always clearly differentiated. This may irritate some readers who rely on the narrator's voice acting.

This was the first book that I've read from this author, and I'm sure it won't be the last. One Poison Pie is comforting and engaging, just like a good cozy mystery is supposed to be.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

One Poison Pie by Lynn Cahoon is book one in paranormal cozy mystery called the Kitchen Witch Mysteries. There is a novella introducing the series which I have not read but it was easy to hop into Mia’s journey understanding her back story through the course of the book. I have never read a paranormal cozy but I liked the hint of magic sprinkled in as character trait. I also loved the characters, especially the relationship of Mia and her Grandmother. The fact that Mia is also close with her ex-finance’s sister adds another layer to the story. Over all the plot was good, but the ending culprit reveal felt a little flat for me personally.

This was my first paranormal cozy and my first read by Lynn Cahoon. I enjoyed it and I’m excited to see where this series goes next and I will be picking up the 0.5 Novella in the meantime!

If you love cozy mysteries with a witchy/paranormal vibe, strong family relationships, and cooking theme I strongly suggest picking this one up!

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an audioARC of this book to read for my honest review.

One Poison Pie by Lynn Cahoon is the first book in the Kitchen Witch Mystery series, and it's off to a great start. I enjoy all of Ms. Cahoon's series, and was excited to read this one too. Mia Malone is a kitchen witch who is starting over in Magic Springs, Idaho where her grandmother lives, and witches and warlocks are accepted. Mia has open a new gourmet dinner delivery business and her ex's sister Christina is helping her out. At Mia's first catering job, they find her client's body. Mia and her grandma are determined to find the truth. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. The characters are delightful. I really like the narrator too, the story was relaxing and easy to listen to. I highly recommend this cozy mystery with a little magic.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Mia is a caterer trying to get her business up and running in Magic Springs when her first client is found murdered the day of her party, with Mia being one of the prime suspects.

I was drawn to this ARC as it had some promise for magic realism. While the book does discuss magic and some small-ish "powers" some characters have, overall magic is not really a thing in this novel. I was hoping for a light, fun read that wouldn't be too deep when I started. Unfortunately, it was too light, and not great fun but it certainly wasn't deep at all.

The characters are fine. The writing was fine. The plot was so thin. This was a close DNF for me, but I ended up finishing it. And was completely disappointed by the ending. The killer and the motive were so ridiculous, I rolled my eyes and cringed; so anticlimactic and disappointing.

At the beginning of the book, I was extremely confused because the author is talking about things that happened to the characters like the reader should know them. I thought I had possibly missed a prologue or a first chapter or perhaps this was actually a second book instead of the first. After I had verified that this was, in fact, the first book in the series, I discovered that there was a novella released before this book that contained all of the pieces I felt I was missing. This is the first series that I have come upon that an author doesn't recap what a reader should know from prior books or novellas in the series, instead the reader must plug along and figure out what is going on. It should have been a forewarning that I wasn't going to succeed in my endeavor for a delightful read.

So, I don't recommend this book. At all. To pretty much anyone.

Please read Chili Cauldron Curse first. I know this says first in a new series, and it is the first full length book in a new series, but reading the novella will really help. I started listening without having read the novella, and found myself not fully enjoying the story. Once I went back I read the novella, the experience was so much better. I really enjoyed learning more about the community and getting a little more depth to the characters. The mystery was well concocted and kept me guessing until the end. I'm not a huge fan of Trent, but I look forward to learning more about him. I hoe there's more than meets the eye, as is implied.

One Poison Pie (Kitchen Witch Mysteries #1) by Lynn Cahoon; Narrated by Angie Hickman; Publisher: Kensington Books/Tantor Audio
****Release Date: January 26, 2021***
Mia returns to Magic Springs ,Idaho in this full length cozy mystery. She has broken with her "bad boyfriend", purchased an old school building to renovate as the base of her new business venture: Mia's Morsels. The freedom to practice her kitchen magic is important to her. Kitchen magic uses food as a healing property, and spells for a warm home environment. Christina and Grans are here, as well as newbies Trent and Jack. Just as Mia seems to be getting her life on track, her Grans dear friend is found dead at her first event--jeopardizing her business and freedom.
The plot twists and turns as the hunt for the killer begins. Lynn Cahoon writes characters I want as friends--that keeps me coming back for more. I really enjoyed this book!
Angie Hickman did a marvelous narration of this book.

Mia Malone is a kitchen witch. She has moved back to her grandmothers hometown to start a catering business in an old school. When her first clients shows up dead and she is a suspect, Mia looks into solving the mystery.
Opinion
The narration was awesome. Having different voices for each character helped keep clear who was talking. And Trent’s voice? Yummy.
The story is definitely a great start for this new cozy mystery series. Gran is endearing. Mia is sweet. Trent (the love interest) is kind yet sexy. Add in a troubled, yet faithful young woman and a ghost and you’ve got a nice crew.
For the plot, there was intrigue as well as every day problems. The story rolls along at a nice pace and keeps you wanting more.
Many thanks to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC of this book.
