Right from the beginning, Pastel Pink captivated me with its interesting narrative. The world-building is a testament to the author's brilliant creativity. I could vividly picture everything and this cover!!!!! So freaking gorgeous! I'm a sucker for character art on the cover and this one is impeccable. Harlow on the cover really helped me develop a clear mind's eye picture of her as well. Having racism hinted at existing within a single race based on colors was interesting and clever. I liked it a lot, not enough for a 5-star read but this was a cute little pallet cleanser.

Nope!
I tried multiple times, starting and stopping but this really isn't for me. The story was a bit slow and bloated. The two story lines, one in a more fantasy setting and the other in our world but from the pov of ghosts didn't really mesh well in my opinion. They could have been interesting stories individually but it was too bulky and confusing to go back and forth. It felt like I was switching between two completely different stories.

Maybe works for someone but not for me

I just didn't care + made up curse words, info dumps, comparing everything to IRL things & dreadlocks on a white girl.

Pretty average sci-fi/fantasy book. This felt more like a set-up for upcoming books rather than a self-contained story of it's own which is kinda a bummer because the concept holds so much potential. I really hope Minty expands on this in future books in the series... unfortunately though I won't know since I'm just not intrigued enough to spend my time finishing the series.
Also, Minty decided to explain away Lucas' actions by saying he's schizophrenic.
A. Massive misrepresentation of a viciously stigmatized mental illness that quite frankly offensive.
B. A lazy writing choice. A cop out really. Instead of giving a character actual motives he was given a stereotype (that doesn't even hold true). Gross.
This is yet another author who could do with some sensitivity readers.
All in all I'd rank this a low 3 stars

This was such an interesting start to a new series. I am a little late reviewing this book.
I loved the characters, and how this world was somewhat twisted, but it all made sense.
I read this in like a day, and that is rare. When I do that it indicates that I like the book.
I loved to learn more in this world, and even if this is a completely new world to me I didn’t find it difficult to follow.

DNF after 5 percent. Not the way I thought this book would go. Writing wasn't for me. I thought the concept of color rank was cool because I've also written a book centering on color caste but the execution for this one just wasnt my jive.

Pastel Pink by Nikki Minty was a wonderful experience and unlike anything I have read in quite a long time. The lore and world-building were so immersive, and the characters were such a joy to follow along with. Harrow/Ruby's feelings were so realistic, and it was so refreshing for the main character to be flawed and difficult. I was rooting for her the entire time, and by the end of the book, I was desperately wishing for the next installment! Also, in a controversial opinion, I loved the color system. I actually broke it all down in a journal to follow along with as I read, and I thought it was loads of fun. I can't wait to see where the author takes this series.

If you're interested in a story that blends our world and one that couldn't be more different, with lovable characters and a plot that will keep you biting your nails until the very end, pick up Pastel Pink. It's easily worth it.

I could not connect with this book at all.

I personally disliked a lot about this one but I will let others make up their own mind as there is definitely an audience for this one. It’s just not me

the cover is what drew me in, it was so magnificently done, the story itself works perfectly and I enjoyed going through this fantasy novel. The characters were interesting and I enjoyed getting to know them.

Thanks so much to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for this eARC!

I was really drawn to this book because of the cover and because of my goal of expanding my reading repertoire beyond my usual fantasy and dystopian reads. This one being a sci-fi definitely fits the bill of diversifying my reads. It started off really normal, but when the storyline got going, it really picked up! The book was really fast paced but I enjoyed the pacing quite well. The groundwork for the series was really well established and I look forward to reading Ruby Red!

I really enjoyed the reincarnation aspect of this story, I thought it was really cool how we flipped back and forth between both worlds. I thought it was a really fun Sci Fi, but it was just too slow paced for me.

Can I just say how much I love the cover? It so stunning. The world the author had created was so realistic and complex and yet it wasn’t at all confusing. The story follows Harlow a reincarnated Pastel Zeek living on Zadok, who was murdered on Earth as Ruby, a human. The story is told from both their perspective and how they intervine.

All in all a great read, hated the fact that it ended on a cliff hanger though. Cant wait to get my hands on the next one now.

The most interesting thing for me about this book were the characters. There was a lot of them but they were well developed. You actually got a chance to care about them and wanting to know more about their life.

This book just wasn't for me. I wasn't a huge fan of the concept, the fantasy vibes, etc. I love the color pink, which is what drew me in at the beginning, but overall I just didn't enjoy the story or characters.

Pastel Pink is about a girl reincarnated on a different planet, but remembers her previous life on Earth - such an interesting concept right from the start! Add in wonderful world building, well developed characters, and of course that gorgeous cover art and it's a great book!

I found myself so intrigued with the planet Zadok that I wanted to travel there myself - definitely a really fun journey! This is perfect for anyone who really loves the sci-fi fantasy genre!

This book is definitely a good effort and a strong indie work. Personally, I struggled to get into the story at no fault to the story itself or the authors writing style. There is definitely room for growth in regards to the writing, but the story is solid and unique. I'd like to see where this series goes and how the author develops as they continue on their storytelling journey.

Pastel Pink is a YA fantasy/sci-fi book. Its cover is so so gorgeous but when I start the book, it somehow leaves me a bit confused. It's still a fun read tho! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC! I can't wait how this story will take in the next books.

I received an eARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

There are some really lovely things about this book including the beautiful cover and the engaging sci-fi/magical realism. I have always been a fan of stories told through multiple points of view, but I can see where maybe it might not gel with some people in this case. I really wish there was more World Building when it came to Zadok and the different people and creatures that live there. And because there are so many characters it is hard to delve too deeply into any of them and their backstories to see why their characters are the way they are outside of things that are talked about just briefly. I think the ending was predictable and it is very easy to see what some of the plot points in the next novel will be from where it leaves off. That being said I will probably still read the second one when it releases to see if we spend more time on Zadok and flesh out the story now that a lot of the Earth storyline should have played itself out.

Real rating 3.5*.

Thank you to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for this ARC for me to read and review.

Pastel pink is about Ruby who was murdered on Earth and is then reborn as Harlow on a planet called Zadok where the world is split into caste’s. She is born as a pastel which in her race is at the bottom. I thought that this idea was pretty unique, the writer also sets up the world well at the beginning so it was easy to grasp the world from the get go. This book is also written from a multiple POV cast and I always enjoy books like that as I like to see what various characters are thinking. There was a lot of suspense as I did like seeing Harlow/Ruby going back to earth, and I’m definitely intrigued about how that is going to be linked/ explained in future books. I look forward to reading the next instalment! Also the cover is super gorgeous and it caught my eye straight away!
