I am a new fan of the author and really liked this story.
The chemistry and heat between the two main characters - Mercy and Raphael - is hot and there is also lots of adventure, mystery and danger! A great novel and cannot wait for Gaberial's book!

I have been provided with a review copy of Dancing With Danger from NetGalley for an impartial review. This is the third book in the A Goode Girls Romance series and I just loved getting to reenter this world. I was just drawn into this wonderful story and I just couldn’t get enough of it. It was just so easy to get lost in this great story. I just didn’t want it to end. I just lost myself in and I just couldn’t get enough of these interesting characters. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

I take no joy in negative reviews, however, my reputation means more than getting a free book to read, I buy several hundred dollars a year in books, plus, two hundred with Christmas gift cards. Therefore, I am able to read only those books I enjoy. I don't like Mercy, she is too much of an out of place feminist for me, I like Raphael Sauvauge, and his brother Gabriel, both born into a criminal life, and both willing to risk their lives to climb out of it. The love affair between Mercy and Raphael is too rushed, it feels like pure lust, not love at all. I skip those types of pages. This author is a good writer, I expect more.
Thank you Netgalley!

We met Raphael Sauvageau in the previous Goode Girls book, Nora and Titus’s story when Mercy, Nora and Felicity were trying to steal gold from Raphael and his brother Gabriel. They let the women go extracting a promise that the doctor will perform a surgery at their request but there was definitely chemistry between the two at that meeting!

Mercy Goode is mischievous, outspoken, observant and intelligent, so when a woman she is helping to get out of a bad marriage is found dead of course she is going to investigate. What she doesn’t count on is Raphael Sauvageau, notorious gangster and known lothario being at the murder scene. While trying to solve the murder these two have to face their feelings for one another. For Raphael those feelings are scary, he has spent his life avoiding attachments so the band of mercenaries he leads doesn’t find a weakness in him they can use. Mercy is everything that Raphael doesn’t want. She’s adventurous, inquisitive and kind.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Raphael and Gabriel. Raphael felt such guilt and self loathing for what Gabriel had gone thru that left him scarred, he was willing to sacrifice himself. Gabriel is mysterious but the brains behind their criminal enterprise. While this book centers on them trying to get out of that life, I enjoyed the subterfuge of their gangster life.

As with most of Kerrigan Bryne’s book, Mercy was a strong, independent heroine. I loved that she was smart, knew what she wanted and wasn’t scared of Raphael. That he accepted her as she was, even marveling in her, was perfect.

It all wrapped up neatly and left me wanting to read Felicity and Gabriel’s book. The scarred hero with the timid heroine is usually my favorite.

“Oh, she let justice take it’s course….Because justice, as everyone knew was a woman.”

I read the first chapter of this book and I was hooked. The dynamic between Raphael and Mercy was intriguing and for some reason tender and sexy. I was so curious to know more. The book has a delicious undercurrent of danger and intrigue running throughout that made it a fantastic read. I literally couldn’t put it down once I started reading it. This is not an unusual event when I read books from this author so I am not surprised. I adored Raphael and Mercy and I highly recommend this book. This is book three in "The Goode girls" series but could be read as a standalone book.

I received this ARC from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review*

Dancing with Danger is book 3 in the Goode Girls series, which is a spin-off from the Victorian Rebels series. The story opens with Mercy schooling a constable at a murder scene and it definitely grabbed my attention. I did enjoy a lot about this book, but like the rest so far in this series I am always left wanting a little more. These stories are shorter, this one comes in at 214 pages, and I just find myself wanting more from the characters, plot, and romance.

The hero of this book, Raphael Sayvageau, we met in the previous book in the series (Courting Trouble). He and his brother Gabriel were born into an underground criminal world and at the beginning of this story Raphael is ready to leave it all behind & has a plan for his brother’s future. But when he meets Mercy, his world is kind of thrown for a loop. Raphael is so taken with Mercy, her adventurous spirit and boldness fascinates him and he can’t keep away. They end up both getting arrested since they’re found at the crime scene together and after Raphael escaped, he realizes he can’t stop thinking about Mercy. It is then that he decides to spend one night with Mercy before he gets back to the darker underworld he knows.

I’ve been loving the heroes in this story and I am very intrigued to continue this series, we get hints in this book about Raphael’s brother Gabriel and Mercy’s twin sister Felicity having some chemistry & their book is next! Gabriel is a tortured, scarred hero and I can’t wait to read their romance.

I received an e-ARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest thoughts & review.

Fantastic read. A lovely historical romance, that doesn’t feel like a historical. At times, quite humorous and definitely sexy. And of course, the alpha male hero with a touch of bad boy. What more could you ask for? Read for yourself and enjoy all the magic for yourself, enjoy!

This is another amazing love story that has all the elements that make a Kerrigan Byrne book a must-have!! Her characters are incredible, believable, and are layers deep. Mercy is a beautiful young lady who wants to find who killed her friend and will let nothing stop her, especially a notorious criminal. She is smart, stubborn, and of course beautiful. Raphael Sauvageau is a crime lord who has run afoul of Mercy's stubbornness. He tries to stop her from investigating a murder and gets caught up in an attraction that he has never felt before and at the worst time of his life. The passion sizzles between them, the danger is mind-numbing, the love they find is truly magnificent. Kerrigan is a truly wonderful talent in this genre. I highly recommend her books!!

Kerrigan Byrne writes books I love to read! Mercy Goode is only truly good at one thing: finding mischief wherever she goes. Such as getting arrested at a murder scene with Raphael Sauvageau, a brutally handsome, ruthless smuggler with a dangerous past and a dubious future. The silver-tongued devil doesn’t deserve a lick of her confidence, but she has evidence that he’s not the killer.

She can’t deny that he’s relentlessly wicked. Mercy and Rafe meet quite by accident. Mercy is determined to solve a murder that Rafe has asked her to leave to him. Mercy continues on her quest leaving Rafe no option but to protect her. These two are so perfect for one another. Readers will love this book.

I love Ms. Byrne's writing style. She is very flagrant with her words. She introduces Mercy to us and her description of a young woman who is small and charming until she opens her mouth, is very funny and easy to picture. The scene is set and we know about Mercy before Raphael is introduced, as a sauve, libertine and also a very dangerous gangster. Also easy to imagine with her wonderful descriptions.
The story follows Mercy and Raphael, and both of them find they need to find out, who killed Mathilde. When they meet their's an attraction on both sides. Mercy is drawn to Raphael, and Raphael wants just one night with Mercy before leaving London for good. Loved Raphael and Mercy together!
This was a great read and I'd recommend it to fans of Kerrigan Byrne and historical romance.

Mercy was such a fabulous heroine! Sure of herself and so smart and dedicated to justice for her murdered friend. In a time when women were expected to keep quiet and defer to men in all things, Mercy is a breath of fresh air. I also enjoyed Raphael, who is a very dangerous criminal but is putty in Mercy’s hands. It was also wonderful seeing glimpses into the bond he shares with his brother Gabriel, I wish there had been more of their relationship in the book. I thought the book started wonderfully, got side tracked with sex, and then slowly built back up to wonderful and fast paced and exciting. Overall a lovely book and now I want to read Felicity’s story!

Dancing with Danger written by Kerrigan Byrne is a historical romance novel set in England. It is the third book to the Goode Girls series.

Mercy Goode is intelligent, observant, and opinionated. Nothing detracts her from speaking her mind even if it deters the opposite sex from pursuing a romantic relationship with her.

Raphael Sauvageau is mysterious, loyal, and selfless. Born into a life of criminality with his brother, his goal is to escape it by any means necessary even if the consequence is his death.

Both Mercy and Raphael start off their journey with the murder of someone they were both acquainted with. From then on, a series of encounters occur while they conduct their investigation on the matter. The banter was fun and there is undeniable chemistry between these two characters. However, their love for one another felt slightly rushed since there was not enough interaction to convince me it was anything but attraction. I also felt that Raphael was a complete mystery up until the end.

"It surprised him to find that his hand had found its way inside his suit coat, to rest over his chest. She made the muscles around his lungs squeeze at the same time his heart seemed to double in size and radiate a confounding warmth."

I recommend this book for those who love historical romances with a hint of mystery. It had some unpredictable reveals which I appreciated a lot. Mercy felt like a modern girl living in the wrong time period. Very smart with great investigative skills. Raphael was just the right man to accept all of who she is. Overall a good story, but beware of the instant love.

Fast paced. Delightful characters! Mercy is a young woman way ahead of her time. When she meets Raphael her life changes. They are truly made for each other.

Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Book 3 of the Goode sisters. Blue stocking, clever, witty Mercy catches the eye of Raphael, a gang leader. I loved how Mercy was full of sass and called it how she saw it. Great opening scene showcasing Mercy’s strength and intelligence. Mercy and Raphael have met before briefly in book 2, but it still was instant attraction. I’m not usually a fan of insta- love, however this was done very well. Their banter was fun and the writing really conveyed the fondness Raphael had for Mercy. Usually Byrne’s stories give more background early on, this time the reveal was later. I have to say I prefer it earlier, so I can get a better understanding of the character. Overall, I really enjoyed it, but I’m anxiously awaiting Gabriel’s story. I couldn’t stop thinking the whole time about his chance for love.

Once again, am always a fan of anything Byrne puts out.

My only complaint is that I wanted more angst. I love the slow burn romance and this one felt quick. May just be me.

Other than that, I loved Mercy's character. She's witty and feisty. I love Raphael's broken soul.

Also, can't wait for Gabriel's story. Just putting that into the book universe.

Content Warnings: smut, violence, abuse

Dancing with Danger by Kerrgan Byrne
A Goode Girls Romance #3

This was a delightful short romp of a romance that was exciting, engaging and a wee bit unbelievable but oh so very fun to read!

What I liked:
* Mercy: made me laugh as she sleuthed and tried to be so wise. A good sister, curious, intrigued by Raphael and seemed prone to getting into trouble.
* Raphael: strong, lethal, smart, giving, cunning, and definitely hero material even if a ruthless criminal. He was intrigued by Mercy and found her difficult to resist.
* The romance between Mercy and Raphael – the dance between them was fun to watch.
* Gabriel: I want to know more about him and about his backstory. I am hoping he has a book of his own.
* Felicity: Mercy’s twin but her opposite in temperament, good sister, giving, kind and worth of a book of her own.
* Wondering who Felicity will end up with as there seems to be more than one man as a potential love interest.
* The hints at the back stories of Raphael and Gabriel.
* That one of the plot possibilities was thwarted (whew).
* That there was an eventual HEA for Mercy and Raphael.
* Everything really except…

What I didn’t like:
* DI Trout…for more reasons than one.
* The way Raphael and Gabriel were raised and what they must have suffered.
* Having to wait to find out what will happen next.

NOTE: This can be read without previous books BUT I think having read the previous books might make this easier to understand and perhaps more believable.

I was so excited for this story and see Mercy get her story and finally her revenge but her snarky personality kind of ruined the story for me. Im actually shocked people want tobearound her for long periods. It made me not want to finish the book.

Gritty, but so well written. I loved Mercy. Such a tough but sweet soul.
Raphael is so intriguing and sexy. So alpha.
Mercy is quite the sleuth. Her brother in law warns her to leave the detective work to him.
Raphael has a lot of secrets. This is a shorter novel, but has a lot of action.
I almost thought Raphael had no way out of his underworld crime- boss lifestyle. He's very dedicated to his brother, who has it even worse.
Mercy is one of my favorite KB heroines. I hope that I read more of her and Raphael in future books.
I read this, but want to listen to the audio too.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have loved previous historical romance novels written by this author. She has an uncanny ability to bring characters to life and make you enchanted by their passion for each other. Unfortunately I did not connect with the characters in this novel. It was a world that didn't feel real enough for me. I loved how fierce and independent the heroine was but I felt that the hero was so enamored with her that he found everything she did as adorable and small. He just didn't seem to really value her talents for crime solving.
Entertaining nonetheless.
